Chocolat is a Chocolate Factory in El Paso specializing in chocolate gift baskets. This review is based on a chocolate assortment gift basket I received at home on my Birthday. The delivery man was courteous. My friend who sent me the chocolates said "Chocolat" specified someone needed to answer the door; otherwise, they wouldn't leave the chocolates basket outside. The basket was perfect and beautiful. The assortment of chocolates was gourmet and unique. I enjoyed them all, but my favorites were the giant chocolate-dipped pretzels with different toppings and the rum cake. Chocolat's rum cake was the freshest most rum-rich rum cake I have ever had. Chocolat has a wonderful assortment of chocolates, both individual pieces and pre-made baskets of various sizes. Their sugar-free chocolates taste exactly like other more traditional chocolate candies, but they don't have the added sugar. I can't believe I even have to write this, but after my recent experience at this store I feel like it's my duty to warn others. This place has completely gone downhill since the new owners took over. First of all, the customer service is absolutely terrible. The owners are rude, dismissive, and act like you're bothering them just by being there. I've been a loyal customer for years, but the second I stepped in after the ownership changed, I could immediately feel the difference. The staff seems as miserable as the owners, and it's clear they don't have any real interest in running a quality business. What's even worse is that they lie about their products. They tell everyone that they make their chocolates in-house, but I recently found out that they're actually just buying everything from Asher's Chocolate Co. If you're going to pass off someone else's work as your own, at least have the decency to be honest about it. It's pretty obvious when you recognize Asher's packaging and what they sell. The place is also terribly organized. There's no rhyme or reason to how the products are displayed, and it's impossible to find anything without rummaging through a disorganized mess. I've seen better setups at flea markets. Honestly, there are so many other chocolate shops that actually care about their customers and their product. Save your time and money, and don't waste either on this place. It's a joke at this point, and I'll never be coming back. read more

How about to the point where your dad already tried to open it up before it was time to indulge? Well that's what happened when my mom had the most beautiful chocolate charcuterie spread from Chocolat. This decadent and rich dessert spread would even put Willy Wonka and his crew to shame. My favorite bites were the hand dipped white chocolate covered oreos and the milk chocolate covered dark chocolate cake bites. I kept grabbing one and the crazy part was that didn't include the options of the chocolate covered pretzels, truffle bites, individually wrapped chocolates and cookies, and so much more. There's so much to say about this gem that I'm surprised the last review was so long ago. I visited right before their closing time without realizing and the staff greeted us with kindness and turned back on their display lights. We ordered an assortment of truffles and desserts some of those (nutella, kahlua, raspberry jelly, raspberry cream) and everything we ordered was perfect! A velvety delicious piece of heaven. And the assortment of flavors and options are endless yet everything tasted fresh. If you are looking for a Valentines Day gift or just a little something to indulge, this is your place. Oh! Last month when I went in Chocolate to place my usual holiday order. No one even said hello to me so after waiting awhile and being ignored I left. Because there's no place in all of El Paso that does delicious chocolates as beautifully as Chocolate does, I decided to give it another try today. The new owner was there and could not have been sweeter. She took my order in minutes and we chatted a bit. The employees were delightful as well. Transitions are hard. But the kinks are being worked out and I could not more strongly recommend this lovely business. I sincerely think there is no other place in El Paso or on line that will provide both the presentation as well as the quality for your holiday gifts...or for a treat for yourself! Do not do buisness or advertising for her. She is highly unprofessional and will not hold up her end of the deal. After a year and signed contracts she decided to renig on her end of the deal providing the services that were owed. Many people have called the owner looney, abrasive and rude. The worst customer service over had so far in El Paso. My wife contacted chocolat about purchasing chocolate, and asked for specifics on what type of cacao bean they used. The MANAGER told her "I don't have time to talk to you, there's a line it the door." When I contacted the manager she was ride, defensive, and LIED saying she had asked for my wife's number to call back (side note that never happened.) I cannot tell you how many times I've wanted to go to Chocolat only to realize it's too late. Guys, leave work early and treat yo self! Chocolat is tucked away in a shopping plaza on Mesa in a tiny corner so keep your eyes peeled. My better half surprised me with a trip to Chocolat on Saturday and I walked into tiny shop that was piled high with chocolates and sweets, reminiscent of my days in Germany as a child. I love the whole decor of the store, it's all very cozy and sweet. Oh gosh... and the smells! The smells are amazing. You are just breathing in pure chocolate. Two of the most important things when looking picking up some sweets, selection and price. Their selection is quite vast and range from truffles to cordials to bark to biscotti. And the price is unheard of. We walked away with a bag of biscotti dipped in chocolate, three sea salt dark chocolate caramels, a mango chocolate, a dark cherry cordial, an amaretto chocolate, and whatever else my husband got for $14. I know where I'm buying people's Christmas gifts. If you can't tell by the smells, everything is made by hand. Ask the owner, she'll tell you. And when you bite into the chocolates it taste like a fresh chocolate. I'm still munching on my bag of biscotti, but we finished our bag of chocolates the day we got them. The biscotti are really good and have little pieces of toffee (I think... it's hard to tell because I eat them so quick). I'm a fiend for salted dark chocolate with caramel and their soft caramel coated in dark chocolate is no exception... I scarfed those down first. The mango and amaretto chocolates were truffles and had a little bit of a muted flavor, but in a good way. The entire chocolate tasted like the flavor so I appreciate that it didn't taste like I bit into a mango... instead it tasted like I bit into a chocolate mango. Nice! And the cherry cordial... so much yes! I'm curious to see if they have any other chocolates that are similar in texture and consistency (a burst of smooth flavor on the inside and a thin layer of dark chocolate on the outside). Just delicious and I wouldn't mind getting a box of these for Christmas. Definitely worth a trip for a few chocolates to share or a nice present for someone's birthday or the holidays. The quality is very high and the selection is immense. The environment is so inviting and the owner is such a sweetheart. I went in here thinking this place was an actual homemade chocolate place. Wrong. I think everything is just bought in bulk and resold at their place. The chocolate I bought was old, like it had been sitting on a shelf too long. Reminded me of the chocolate treats one buys for a school find raiser. It also had the dull white look mass produced chocolate gets when it gets warmed up, then cooled down again...meaning the preservative wax is coming off. Kind of overpriced too. read more

The packaging was pretty then we realized the top was covered with loose red glitter. Our car is covered, our house, the strawberries themselves, and fishing glitter off my contact lens was a blast.
