The salon is respectful of your time and does not double and or triple book their stylists so you are able to get in and out within a reasonable amount of time, receive quality service and not feel ignored or rushed. There have been times when stylists have moved on and the front desk staff made every effort to ensure I was paired with a stylist who specialized in working with curly hair. The owners have worked hard to provide an upscale and relaxed experience that is consistent. The salon is clean, calming and soothing without the threat of children / pets destroying the environment. Please be aware before booking your appointment - Salon L is not a daycare center so if you're asked to remove a disruptive situation, please understand the request - as I personally don't want to be forced to endure the pain. I also am a person color and have never faced discrimination or racism while visiting this establishment. That's my two cents...

I walked by and saw Black Women inside and went in to ask about what was offered. The woman I spoke to stated that they do natural curly hair and had products for me. When I made the appointment I verified this again. First, the stylist used a clarifying shampoo which stripped all my moisture. Then she towel dried it, frizzing up my curls. Then she combed them out, which I'm assuming was to trim the ends straight, but this left me with no curls at all. As I said, the shape of the cut was cute. But I had to walk her through the process of re-wetting my hair to bring my curls back, no towel dry, and then tell her to use liberal amount of the curl cream she had. It still wasn't enough. I went home and gave myself a deep conditioning hair mask and put it all the products (about half a jar) to make my curls pretty and bouncy again. I might go back to Karen for a cut but I was really disappointed by the lack of knowledge about curly hair. And I was so excited to find this place previously.

But it was amazingly good in a number of ways:…read more1) First and foremost: the color (roots + highlighting) was really masterfully done - as good as I've had in Paris. 2) The staff were friendly, attentive, and accommodating 3) My stylist was extremely helpful and answered various random questions of mine, like best hairstyle for me for an inaugural ball, even though I'm from out of town and they may never see me again. I had Celia, but I would bet that they are all very capable there. 4) I have a spinal injury and they made me as comfortable as possible at all times without being overly solicitous. It's a physically large salon that has apparently been around a long time. They clearly deserve their success. I would highly recommend it.

While the salon wasn't super busy at 3pm on the Friday of a holiday weekend, there were other customers coming and going. Amanda was great. She listened to what I wanted and gave it to me. She also noticed that my gray roots hadn't absorbed the color as well as the rest of my hair and put some toner on it to help develop the color. Hair came out great, and I loved the color. The cut was great too. I plan to go back in six weeks. I think I found my new regular hair place!

We've had a couple less than stellar cuts, but kids move and things happen. We've also had some good cuts - so I understood why they come so highly recommended. Our son's hairline has a point and not only was it cut off (not the first time), but his entire hairline was raised (and unevenly). I asked for it to "just be cleaned up" and it's summer-cut short... it's a horrible bowl cut in the front instead of his cute part. Worse: We have a family event next weekend and there aren't enough half zips or scarves or hats to cover up this disaster.
