Chrispa's 2 Tacos Carna Asada were very good filled with lots of goodies, very filling and tasty, nice job on the tacos and thank you for substituting the beans for extra rice. The taquitos were crispy and tasty, nice for my 90 year old mother to eat, the guacamole that it comes with was a nice compliment. Small restaurant, locally owned and run, please try them out.

First and foremost, the service was STELLAR! We wanted to stop in and pick up lunch on the way to my in laws house, they were closing at 2pm and we didn't know this as it was our first experience at Chispa's. We called our order in and before we even placed the order, we asked if it was okay since it was so close to closing time. They were so accommodating and they were to happy to take our order for pick up. When we got to the restaurant, they had our order ready! They were all so kind and welcoming. The restaurant was small but perfect to match the vibe and also had a cute outdoor seating area for guests. Conveniently, this spot offers a drive thru as well which is always great for on-the-go! The food. My fiancé and I rated our experience 7.5/10. Here is the rundown... My fiancé ordered the two carne asada taco plate, I ordered the carne asada burrito, and our son ordered the cheese quesadilla. The quesadilla was THE BEST, SO DELICIOUS! Although, I feel a different container would have been better for transporting to retain its shape, heat, and sticking together since they're stacked. The carne asada burrito. It comes with beans and rice and your selection of meat plus up to 3 additional toppings (a few for example are onions and cilantro, grilled onions, pickles onions, avocado, chipotle crema, jalapeños, and more). I chose avocado, pickled onions, and 2 sides of chipotle crema. Highly recommend the sauces on the side so you can control the quantity and ensure the sauce is in each bite throughout. It was delicious. The one flaw....The beans. I was not a fan of the beans. Which is unfortunate because the beans come in the burrito and on all the plates etc. I just found the beans with an off flavor, almost too salty. The color was not pleasant looking either. If these beans were changed, our 7.5 ranking would easily move to an 8.5/9. My fiance ordered the tacos. He really enjoyed the tacos, he opted for onions and cilantro for his toppings with sides of hot salsa. They were really good and it was a perfect portion for lunch. Yet again, the beans on the plate lunch option were not the best. Would we back again? Yes, absolutely. However I would order either the beans on the side or just opt out of them completely. Great lunch spot! Can't wait to try other items at Chispas! I encourage you to give them a try! Fairly inexpensive too! For the three of us, it was $40! Not bad at all! Fresh ingredients, great service!

This place is a gem. I can't believe it took me this long to try it. everything I've had so far is amazing. The rice and beans are delicious. The beef tacos delicious and I really like the egg and potato burrito. I don't think you can go wrong.

Solid place with lots of great options. Was able to walk next door and get drinks to bring over which is a fun little twist. I had the taco plate with carne asada. Great portion size and flavors.

They got me. Sometimes they forget the avo salsa OTS but I still go back, often. Honorable mentions: Chorizo & Egg burrito is a hit for the Kid with cilantro & onion added and avocado salsa on the side... I dig the burrito with veggies, I switch up between refried beans and pinto, add pickled onion, carrots and jalapens and the avocado salsa on it. Civeche Stuffed Papa Breakfast bowl hit a pocket I didn't know existed Carne fries are delicious, I'd stuff 2 orders in if I were physically capable Horchata yum Oj yum yum Quesadilla is massive Birria tacos on Wednesday & Thursday I thoroughly enjoy this place and it is one of maybe 2 other "drive thru" establishments I am willing to drive through. I went for a quick lunch and had some pretty good tacos! Staff was super friendly and they made some pretty quality tacos. Queso and chips were good as well!

We were in town visiting family for Thanksgiving and decided we were tired of the leftovers in the fridge so I yelped breakfast burritos and we chose this place based on the reviews. It certainly did not disappoint!!! I was planning to only eat half of my burrito and save the rest for the next morning but it was too yummy to stop eating! We ordered 1 bacon, 1 steak, and 2 chorizos and everyone was happy with their choice. We ordered at the drive thru window and we did not have to wait long. They came out hot and freshly made. The stickers on the wrappers were a cute touch. I definitely recommend their breakfast burritos and supporting a small business!

Wow I should have been here sooner! The roasted green chiles are delicious and I love them in my bowl of fish/rice/refried beans. Salsa here is hot and spicy. Horchata is tasty and thicker than other place. Outdoor seating is nice and also dog-friendly. They also have drive thru that is wrapped around their building.

Needs more toppings. Too many fries and not enough of the other stuff.

This place is owned by Los Olivos royalty and is so bomb. It is healthy, affordable, and delicious. I am on Keto and they make me Keto friendly meals all the time. They have this hot salsa that is so yummy. Everything is so fresh and the people are very friendly. I call ahead and go pick it up at the drive through. I can't recommend this place enough. It is such a good addition to the neighborhood. read more

When you go in, the decor is clean and simple. The lady behind the counter was amazing! Very patient and walked us through the ordering. The menu ordering is similar to Chipotle. You choose between tacos, salad, bowls, Quesadilla, burrito or tostadas and then choose the protein. It's extra $ for carne asada, shrimp and fish. My friend and I got a bowl with extra meat. The chicken and pastor were good but the Carne Asada was AMAZING! The green chilies were also phenomenal and the guacamole fresh. We were torn on the value. Was great quality but even with us spending an extra $4-5 each for the little bit of extra meat, still didn't have that much volume. Total was just over $30 for 2 small bowls and a side of chips with guacamole. Yes, better quality but Chipotle is still a better for value! Would go back just for the carne asada. read more

New to the area this restaurant is filling a niche for fresh fast healthier Mexican food. Today I had the carne asada street tacos, the carne asada was surprisingly good, proper flavor, not overly salted and had a nice char which added to the texture, the coleslaw was fresh and finely chopped, and included the right amount of cilantro and onions to not overpower the other flavors. Note that at least for me the salsa served on the side while good is bit spicy, next time I'll be sure to ask for mild salsa. read more

If you're looking for fresh and authentic Mexican food, this family-owned place is bar none! The Flautas a la Mexicana is a hidden gem! If their employees read this review, they probably know who I am ;-). Shrimp street tacos (so tasty) and the House salad (loaded with goodies) are also memorable favorites. The citrus green tea could be upgraded to a better vendor/brand, but otherwise, this place is my go-to 2 to 3 times per week. Great service from window to kitchen! 5 stars. read more

I have been wanting to try Chiapa's for a while, but I've gone TWICE and it's been closed. Their hours on google and Maps said they were open, but then I arrived and they were closed. Disappointing. I just noticed this new place near me and figured I'd try it as I'm a huge Mexican food fan. I got a crane asada and pastor taco, rice, beans, elote/corn in a cup and chips and salsa. The price was reasonable, I spent under $20, and the tacos were okay. Pastor was super flavorful and my favorite and the carne just tasted like a carne you'd get at a 24hr drive thru. Beans and rice were ehhh, nothing special, kind of bland. The corn. The corn was not edible and I wanted it to be sooo bad. The corn was undercooked and it was in a cup with straight watery liquid with some half melted cheese that didn't melt at all and got gummy. I tried draining it and it came with a side of hot sauce and limes, I mixed it all up and I couldn't even take a bite. It was just way too watery and didn't taste at all like elote. I would line to try a burrito next time and hopefully it can save this place for me, but I'd rather go to Oscars right down the street and get better quality and better priced Mexican food. read more

First time here and it didn't disappoint. Man that ceviche is the best I've ever had. Wife said the same thing. All the tacos were amazing too. My son loved the carne asada quesadilla and my daughter loved the chicken tenders. I'd even order those as well. Tenders tasted fresh and not frozen like other places do for the kids as an after thought. We'll be going back often. read more

I am so shocked at these reviews . We have been three times. The first time, it was delicious. We ordered the same food in both the second and third visits. The bean and cheese burrito barely had any cheese and when you picked it up, the beans ran out the bottom. They were incredibly watery, on top of having a very small amount of cheese. We Also ordered a chicken tostada and a side of retried beans and cheese. The chicken tostada had very little chicken in it and the beans, which were sooo runny, had a very minuscule amount of cheese on them. Clearly, times are not easy, understandably so. However, I suspect they are trying to make their food go further at less expense to them. It was very disappointing, especially after being excited on the first visit. Neither I, nor any of my family or friends, will be enjoying Chispas anytime soon. read more

We stopped in for the first time today for breakfast. The bacon & egg burrito was the best I've ever had. I asked if I could also order a Pastor Burrito with egg as well. Would be 5 stars for dinner/lunch. I'm Hispanic and make killer refried beans. This place treats beans and rice with Mucho respect. That is da sign of great Mexican the Burritos for dinner were amazing. Roasted green chilies Yes please. But the breakfast burrito when came for breakfast. Very bland. Ultra Gringo. Cost more than LOS Fav. You got to bring the favors in breakfast burritos in AZ. This is the land of great breakfast burritos. Add some salsa, Cilantro maybe some beans. I'm a sucker for a place that has tacos and Sonoran dogs (DOGOS!!) so I've been wanting to try this place. However, sad to say it didn't live up to MY expectations. The tacos were drowned in toppings which took away the taste of the meat. The pastor, which they list as the favorite, is in fact the one that tasted the best out of all tacos. If you tend to get a combination of different tacos, i recommend adding more pastor to your ratio especially because the carne asada is extra (???). The hot dog was okay, tasty even, but the main ingredient of a Sonoran dog is the bun and the bun was non-existent and soggy. The one thing I throughly enjoyed about this place is the aesthetic. Not only do I love food I also enjoy restaurant concepts and decor. It's tough to open a restaurant because just like many other ventures, you have to set yourself apart from others, now add a pandemic to the mix... I'd applaud Chispas for pulling all this off nicely. Earlier, notice how I said "my expectations". That means I'm not discrediting the higher ratings for Chispas. Everyone has different likes and dislikes when it comes to tacos, if they loved the food, chances are you might too! Just like any of my reviews I'd never tell you NOT to try a place. Regardless if I didn't like it, Chispas is worth your time. read more

I've been want it to try this place for a while and I'm so glad I did. My new favorite spot! The staff was so nice and attentive. Pollo asado tacos were so good everything was so flavorful and tasted so fresh. the portions were perfect and they have vegetarian options which is awesome too. Also the horchata is DELICIOUS!!! This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic.
