I've been here a couple of times after games. I can't really figure out when this place is open or closed. They really don't stay open long after games, which sucks. The drink selection is good. The staff is hit or miss - they tend to be a little gruff and unhappy, but if you're not a drunk jerk and you engage them, they tend to become a lot friendlier. It has been a couple years since we had been here. Having a child, it's difficult to get out and do adult things, with or without her. We went to a ballgame the big 20th Anniversary of the World Series Weekend, and we made the effort to come here, and looked forward to it, but we won't be back anytime soon. The place was busy, but it wasn't packed. I bussed my own table to make room for the three of us. ChiSox should be able to handle crowds of people, but not on this day. It took 45 minutes to get our food. Twice they brought out food to us that wasn't ours, but still included the chicken fingers my 6-yr-old wanted, so she had to continue waiting. The nachos used to be sooooo delicious. A mound of chips dusted with some spice, and then heaps of fixings. Not any more. Don't know if they were in a hurry or what. Chips on a baking pan with barely enough fixings. We waited so long for food, we ate what we could, paid the bill, and had to get in the long line for our Hawaiian t-shirt. We weren't the only ones that weren't having a great experience. It wasn't exclusive to our server. We waited so long for our food that we saw fans leave without paying for drinks they had. We saw people just get up and leave. Fans were telling other fans to leave and get food in the ballpark. It was a mess, and worse, a major disappointment. We won't be back for a while. read more

There are two primary reasons why I like the Chicago Sox Bar and Grill: 1. They are located across the street from Sox Park. This means easy access for all fans after the game. 2. They have pictures on the walls depicting huge groups of fans holding wooden clubs in the air as if they're rearing to attack fans from the opposing team.... Yes there was a time when each fan was handed a full sized Louisville Slugger baseball bat upon entry to Sox Park on "fan day." Imagine if this was still done this day and age. We have been here twice and both times the service has been horrible. Both times we had to flag down a server multiple times, especially after waiting for 10 minutes without being greeted at the table. The second time we went it was a few minutes before the game started so they weren't very busy, I was hoping the service would be better, but it wasn't. We still waited 10-15 minutes, no server, had to ask as a busser for help. I would go to a local spot instead like Turtles. The food is overpriced for how average / below average it is. It's okay, better than not being here. This was an attempt to put something in close to the park to make coming to a Sox game a little more inviting. Although, with a little effort you will find pregame food options in the area, just a few blocks away. I can't comment on the full menu, came in as the game we were at was going into extra innings. Thinking there be a few more options than the park, well not so much. Sox park as I like to call it in order to skip all the name changes has elevated their game, there's food and plenty of beer. I'm not a big beer drinker, and seeing that this place is a part of Gibson's I thought there would be some selection of wine, they did have some but it was weak. And what's up with the plastic glasses? I get that if you want to go back to the game plastic would be in order, but can I have a choice please? After game food is limited to what would be light appetizers, although they have beef brisket nachos that looked substantial, I checked them out as they were dropped at another table. Prices looked a little stiff, for instance you could order chips for 5 bucks but had to pay 3 additional for salsa, I think salsa should be included. I considered getting chips with guacamole, that was 4 additional, but I also wanted salsa. So 12 bucks out the door, seems like the rent is a little to high. I'd offer up 10, I know it's just a couple of bucks more, but sometimes you just have to draw a line in the sand. Service was friendly, although the ice water requested was forgotten about. They did get back to ask if we wanted another drink. They're supposed to be open 2 hours past game time, however they were looking at closing up as soon as extra innings was done with. I guess this can be a tough call, it gets late and many people have left. The person I was with had an excellent suggestion, she said maybe give it half an hour so people can get in a last call or finish up what they have. Not so sure about going back, maybe depending on the circumstance, I might check them out pre-game instead. This sports-themed restaurant is now called 'ChiSox Bar & Grill' after having lost its Bacardi sponsorship, but the menu and atmosphere hasn't changed. I came here for the unofficial grand-opening of the "new" place, and all food and drinks were comped because my old man and I have been season's ticket holders for the past decade. So naturally, we dined like kings. Had we been legitimate kings holding unlimited power, however, we would have demanded that the chef be tarred and feathered. .....Okay, maybe that's a tad extreme, but the food was definitely sub-par. Considering the (over)prices, the quality was not good. Keep in mind, everything I ordered was on the house--all patrons that evening drank and dined for free. ~NOMS~ I started with a "roasted" corn on the cob. Late March is not the peak season for corn, and while I could tolerate the lack of yummy juicy corniness, I could NOT deal with the fact that it was served cold. Like, less than room temperature, as if it just came out of the fridge. This glaring oversight cost them a star, at least. It's normally $4. Bleh. I continued on with chopped brisket tacos (three of them, normally priced @ $9, so $3 per taco). They were marginally okay. There are two BBQ sauces on the table so you can slather on as much as needed for the less-than-flavorful dishes. From there, I placed an order for the chicken tenders (@ $9.75) and cheese fries ($7). Tenders were served with buffalo and blue cheese dipping and tasted decent, but the fries were easily the best thing I had that night. Something so simple, yet it outshone everything else. They ran out of jalepeno cheddar bites, which I desperately wanted to sample. Sad face :( ~BOOZES~ A tall boy of IPA (read: good beer, not cheap domestic shit) will run you $8-9. Cocktails are upwards of $10. The margarita I got was STRONG, and while no where close to being worth $11, I'd get one of those before I even considered paying for a beer. ~BOTTOM LINE~ If it weren't for the fact that this "demo night" included everything on their menu at no charge and somewhat-attentive service, this would be 2-star review at best. Yes, it's essentially ballpark food, but that doesn't mean you still can't get a decent meal. The value here is appalling. Point in case: for twenty-five cents shy of ten bucks, you get 5 chicken tenders. That's it. No fries and a side, no combo meal, nothing. Just tenders. Double-you-tee-eff. TL;DR--I ate and drank myself silly for absolutely no cost, and this place still gets 3 stars out of my easy-to-please self. I'll probably wind up coming here to get the pulled pork nachos (without question the best thing they serve), but that's likely all I'll get. What you get for what you're paying is in line with everything else at Sox park, Wrigley, the United Center, Soldier Field.....that's to say, ridiculous. This bar/restaurant is a great addition to Sox Park. My husband especially likes it and whenever we go to a game he requests that we eat here. The space is ample and it is open before and after games. The food menu is not huge, but the food is very good. The bar is large and the drinks are tasty; I'm not a beer drinker but I think the available options are plentiful. What is annoying is that staff scan your ticket upon entering the restaurant and when leaving you actually leave the park and re-enter at Gate 5 (definitely keep track of your ticket!). Overall I definitely recommend that you try this place when you attend a game! read more

We had the buffalo chicken wrap which came with fries. I love fries. These were terrible. They were strangely chewy unlike anything I've had. The wrap was ok but mostly wrap and not filling. Lol this was a crazy experience. None of us were completely sober which means we're easier to please but damn. So we get to this place around 1230 I think because the game was at 1. We were hungry and this place was inviting so we went across the street and walk in, right past an employee, young guy/prob the host standing at the door. Another group of 4 walks in and sits across from us and within 2 mins had a server come approach them. The host is still standing at the open doors so I'm like hey does a server know we're here? He's like yeah they'll be with you. I'm like ok About 5 mins later a young server comes out like hey sorry didn't know you were here etc etc and asks if he can get us drinks. My friend let's him know she wants a Corona and we're like we're actually ready to order. Then the server who was serving the table across from us (the group that came well after us but served promptly) was like aye man that's my table and they're going back and forth oh you want this table you got it, oh no I got 20 tables already I'm busy unless you need me to get it. I interject and said I actually don't care who's serving me bc I'm ready to eat! So the guy stays with us and gets all of our orders, so another friend orders a Stella and the third orders a mango spritzer (remember this). Food ordered was a brisket sandwich, a philly cheesesteak sandwich, a salad and the chicken adobo tacos. About 10 mins go by and server comes out with and goes "bud light?" And sets it next to friend who ordered mango spritzer and we're like nah friend no one ordered that. He goes oh sorry this is the Stella and sets it next to friend who ordered the Corona. Then brings the cranberry spritzer. My friend goes I ordered mango he goes it is Mango she turns the can around and shows him that it's indeed not Mango. Food is coming to ppl who've waited 20 mins and gets brought to our table we're telling the server it's not ours and he and another employee go back and forth on the numbering of the table. What a show. 20 mins go by from getting drinks and our server is like omg y'all haven't gotten your food? Let me go check. Another 10 mins and our food finally comes out COLD BRUH. I'm pissed. The fries COLD, the brisket WAS PURE FAT on a hamburger bun from the 99 cent store. But even on a roll!! The grilled onions I added weren't even grilled! 1/10 My friend got 2 tacos that was also luke warm in flour tortillas. 2 tacos for 10$. Waste. 3/10 Friend ordered salad and Corona 5/10 Friend ordered cheesesteak and Stella 6/10. Service 2/10 Ambience 1/10 Terrible. This bar is conveniently located across from the field so we decided to get some drinks here before the game. I was with two other people and for the first round we each got a different drink. One margarita, one tequila and water, and one tequila and sprite. The drinks weren't strong so we ordered another round of the same thing but the bartender mixed up our drinks and handed us all tequila sprites. The bar was busy so we didn't make a fuss about it. We had another friend join us so we moved to a table. Ordered two rounds of tequila shots and waited for the check before we went to the game. They charged us for patron when we definitely knew it was Jose Cuervo. Again, they were really busy so we let it be. Unlike others, we had no problem with the people at the door or our server. Ashley, our server, was very attentive. We did not wait long for her to appear to take out drink order, bring those drinks, and kept frequently checking to see if we were ready to order. The menu is not extensive, but has the expected appetizers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, and burgers. It was tasty ~ not the best I have ever had, but faaaaaaaaaaaaaar from the worst. Just a couple of things that I found totally annoying. First: the noise level was outrageously loud. Yelling across the table did not even work. Turn down the volume. Second: we sat on the second level. So what's with the open doors to the comfort stations? People are eating up here. Most unappetizing. This was my first time here. It was opening night. Where to start. It was free parking which is a huge plus. When we arrived there was someone at the door to greet us. I love the friendly environment. So this place has two levels & of course we went to the second level. TVs everywhere you turn (sports bar). It was crowded. There were only a few drinks to pick from which was fine b/c the margarita was extremely good & strong. Big PLUS. Overall the menu had some good food on there. I ordered the turkey burger which was excellent. The main reason I gave this place 3 stars is b/c I had to send my turkey burger back twice. The first time I didn't have any fries & then the second time I didn't have any cheese (I asked for cheese which was on the first burger but then forgot about the second one). A pleasant surprise and would rate it 3 and 1/2 stars. Seasoned chips with nice salsa and great guacamole started us off. My husband had the 3 filet medallion sliders for $15 and they were very good and tender. Served with fries. I ordered the shrimp po boy. Having been to New Orleans over 35 times I know that there are none better. But I was feeling nostalgic amid our upcoming trip to Mardi Gras. It wasn't awful. 5 decent shrimp, lettuce, tomato and seasoned mayo. The problem is always the bread. This was decent but not quite right. Came here a few hours before going to my first White Sox game. Really wish I chose someplace else. It is right across from the stadium so its a less than 5 minute walk from the restaurant to the ballpark which is pretty good but its the only place outside the stadium from what I can tell. Food- The food is way overpriced for the amount you get. I got the sliders and it was literally subpar meat on subpar slider buns. It came with fries which were better than the sliders but still pretty awful and not something I would want to eat again. Drinks- The drinks are fine but really overpriced. I think it was $8 for a Bud Light?! I mean I get you are right by the stadium but still those are insane prices. Service- I cant really complain about the service. I was able to find a seat at the bar and I didn't really interact with the staff much. It did take a while to flag down the bartender so I could close out at the end. All in all, I would avoid this place. Food is better in the ballpark. Drinks are maybe a dollar cheaper inside. Not worth it in my opinion. I will not be back. read more

When looking at the map of the US Cellular field area, there is a lack of pre-gaming facilities. ChiSox it was for drinks and food before the game. It took a while to find a waitress. Then a while longer to obtain drinks. Then much longer to get our food. Then another 20 minutes to pay the bill. I ordered a $13 chopped salad advertising sunflower seeds, a few other healthy toppings,and bacon. Even though the salad did arrive chopped, the toppings were lacking and the dressing was incorrect (ranch, instead of raspberry vinaigrette). I got the attention of our waitress and discussed the dressing situation. She guaranteed the chef put on the correct dressing, even though the color, texture and later taste proved otherwise. At that point, I put the fork in, and argued no more. I just wanted to eventually get to the baseball game next door. I love the food here but let's face it. The service sucks. I've been coming here for years because it's basically part of the stadium and the food is good like I've said. But every single time I've come in here, we wait 15 minutes before someone even acknowledges us. Another 10 just to get water and add more time to take our order then the food comes out so fast. It's hard to find your server when you actually need something. Most of the time they are standing near the kitchen chatting with other servers. Some of them are rude and dont look like they want to be there and others are friendly. But every single one of them have no idea what's going on in the place! One server will tell us one thing and another one says something different. One server says we get our discount another says it's not allowed. One server says we can use a coupon another says we can't. Have a meeting get your stories straight before open or before new staff begins their shift. read more

One of the newer additions to 35th and Shields, ChiSox Bar and Grill gives ballpark patrons a spot to either pregame or post game with a two story restaurant filled with American/Chicago classics such as hot dogs, polishes, burgers, wings, wraps and more. And also, a huge bar to bring it all together makes this the go- to spot when you're spending the day at the ballpark. There's patio seating both in front and in the rear of the restaurant, and there are also some fun games to play if you're with a good group of people such as bags, huge connect 4, and more. Decent priced food, overpriced beer (sorry, guys), and average service is still worth the trip down here, because let's face it, the food there is much better than our north side 'rivals'. read more

As far as convenience, this is pretty much ideal in terms of being close to Guaranteed Rate Field. But I have to say I was not super terribly impressed. We had a large group and had basically a private event, but they didn't have a 100% private space for us. So while we had a good number of tables for our group, we were also intermingled with other guests (who I am sure found this incredibly annoying) and we were upstairs by the bathrooms, so there were constantly people we didn't know coming through our area. Also, the food was mediocre. It was buffet style of course and the logistics were a nightmare. We had a line of people snaking around the whole room waiting to get food and it took forever to get through the line. Beverage service was slow to the point that we had people just going to the bar. So if you just need a beer or a quick bite, it'll be fine. But I wouldn't go expecting fine dining and I might say you'd be better off just buying a dog at the park. read more

Came here before a sox game ofcourse. Fyi I'm a Cubs fan, and say what u want but wrigleys pre and post game environment is on another level . Besides tailgating this seems the the closet spot to grab a beer and some grub. The place is beautiful, modern clean, cool. Not cheap, no deals, but good food and fun atmosphere. One thing I don't get is they didn't play the sox game when we were there? They were playing the masters on every tv? That just doesn't make sense to me. I am giving this place 4 stars, because this place has really changed since it was Bacardi at the Park. The menu was curated and designed by the Gibson's restaurant group, and they definitely have some unique and delicious options for ballpark food. Walking in, the bar is pretty big and spacious, with a sit in bar circling all the way around the middle area where the bartenders make the drinks, and then tables scattered around that. There are also outdoor seating areas in the front, and in the back lining 35th street. Our waiter was very nice and friendly and my brother and I both ordered Chisox Mules (moscow mules). They were pricey at 10$, but I mean, you're grabbing a drink at a ballpark so what do you expect? I'd rather pay 10$ for a well made cocktail than 7 or 8$ for a bud-light. My brother got the pulled pork sandwich and I got the buffalo chicken wrap. The prices are pretty much the same as you would expect from a regular restaurant. The pulled pork sandwich was 9.75, and they have burgers for 11$. They offer wines for 6$ and have a more than reasonable children's menu with items for 3$ and 4$. The portion sizes are fair and the food was good. Both our sandwiches came with a side of fries and coleslaw. I would definitely come back here to eat and drink before a Sox game if I'm not tailgating, as the prices are somewhat cheaper than inside the Cell, you can actually sit and enjoy your meal, and they have different menu items if you want something besides nachos or a hot dog. read more

Still trying to figure out what does waitresses do? After you sit yourself and wait for about 5 minutes. They'll come by and take your drink order, then when they come back to deliver your drinks. You have to stop them before they leave so you can order your food. Food doesn't take long, but they do not deliver your food. Someone in the kitchen does. You see all the girls at the bar mingling and not worried about their customers. You have to be more then cute to be a decent waitress. With that said, atmosphere is great, food is OK.
