After posting in a Yelp discussion board regarding an affordable massage location, Mary T. told me about Chiropractical Solutions & Massage. I was a bit skeptical at first based on all their deals and offers---Groupons, Yelp Deals, webpage and newsletter discounts.... How could an amazing massage be marked down at such a great price??! $80 for two 55 minute massages seemed too good to be true. I submitted an appointment request on a Sunday evening and heard back from them over the phone that Monday morning. Before I knew it, I had an appointment that same day. I met with Dr. Wiesz who was very friendly and easy-going. I explained to him that I had already been seeing a chiropractor for 2 years but was experiencing muscle aches in my shoulders and neck due to many childhood years of gymnastics, horrible posture, chiropractical adjustments, and cervical traction. Not to mention being an intensive care nurse requiring strain moving patients and documenting a lot on the computer. Dr. Wiesz performed an assessment while taking his time and being very open to hearing everything I had to say. He taught me several exercises to do throughout the day that do not look silly while working and do not require any equipment or gym membership. After my physical, I was introduced to Andrea. From a quick glance, she didn't seem like she had it in her to provide the deep tissue massage I had requested...but damn was I wrong! She explained everything clearly, was willing to change pressure as needed, and very intelligent. I truly believe she has x-ray vision because she knows her anatomy and what muscle she's working instantaneously. She hit the right places where I was in pain that would reproduce the discomfort which was indescribable on my paperwork. Pure talent! Another plus is that they accept insurance and are willing to look into your plan without anything being done on the patient's behalf. My only two snuffs would be that the building is hidden off Belmont between Ravenswood and Paulina leaving it difficult to be found. I walked past it two times---Oops. There is free street parking (some time restrictions, so beware), but no need to park more than two blocks away. One minor complaint is that I don't find the space to be super welcoming or "healing." Purchased a Groupon for "One 55-minute massage with a health consultation and deep heat therapy" on 10/29. I was able to schedule my appointment for the same day I purchased the Groupon (red flag). The office seemed a bit creepy (not just because Halloween was coming up) and I felt the energy was off (red flag +). The receptionist had health/snack bars for sale all over her desk, which seemed cluttered and was not appealing at all. I was brought back to the massage room, which was cold and uninviting. No smell good. No dimly lit light. Zero ambiance. Prior to the start of the massage, I specifically told the massage therapist that I wanted her to focus on upper back, shoulders & neck only. However, throughout the massage I had to remind her several times. In addition, she often used 1 hand and I had to continually ask her to please use both hands. Her reply..."I sometimes use 1 hand to keep them both from getting tired." Really??!! I cannot believe she even had the nerve to give that as an excuse. WOW! After spending barely any time on my neck, toward the end of the massage on the creaky wooden table, I had to tell her that I only want attention given to my neck for the remainder of the massage. She then proceeded to rationalize why she was focusing on other areas in addition to schooling me on her knowledge of kinesiology in a very condescending manner. Girl, bye!!! You do not know how to communicate. You do not listen. AND your skills are substandard. You should be ashamed to call yourself a massage therapist! God. Just got out of the worst massage of my life. Like bottom of the barrel. Granted, I've only had like 12 massages in my life, so I'm sure there's worse, but this is my new "low bar" lol. The words "uncomfortable", "dirty", "uneven", "painful" should never be associated with the massage but this was an "all of the above for me". All I wanted was a relaxing massage, focusing on my upper back, where I have fairly consistent tension and pain. I was grateful that they were accommodating to me being 5-10 minutes late, but that's as far as the "pros" go. I was lead to a room resembling of a shady, side of the road, Mexican motel type space with hospital style lighting. The man that lead me in had a CLEAR hand injury, with bandages all up his arm. I thought "Oh well maybe they'll dim the lights, turn on candles. Oh there's no way he's massaging me, he's injured..." NOPE. Lights stayed on, this dude was also to be my crippled masseuse. He told me to undress as Id like and he'd be back. I pull back the covers of the massage bed and find FILTH with an accompanying odor. I called the guy in to show me and he told me "oh those are normal massage oil stains" referring to the 12in radius yellow circle in the middle of the sheet. I pointed at the clear dirt in the folds. He told me it was clean. I refused to get in and he finally changed the sheets. I've been doing laundry for a long time folks, oxyclean takes out oil stains, bleach takes out dirt stains. These were not stains or they're just washing with tepid water, idk which is worse. I got fresh sheets with no apology and I myself flipped the pillow sheet over since my trust level was gone at this point. I kept most of my clothes on sans my shirt cause I was grossed out. Come in the massage. Which took in the place of monk-like SILENCE. The only sounds were my masseuse's BREATH near my horrified face (SO AWKWARD) and the gossip of the staff right outside the door. Classy. The massage was also not what I was lead to believe. It was 90% acupressure. Also 90% performed BY HIS ONLY WORKING HAND. Dude, seriously, this made me pissed for him! Give the man short term disability! He clearly can't do his job with one hand, he's a f*king masseuse! Maybe his working hand was trying to overcompensate for the other, cause I was in pain for at least half of the massage. I said audible "ow"s about once every 90 seconds since he refused to massage and just dig in with his working fingers as deep as he could into my back. I have never had a deep tissue massage, guys, but i has a bunch of SAVAGE massages in Thailand where I got stepped on, swung around and cracked, and never have I said "ow" more than today. Think Chandler when he found out Monica blew at massages. That was me today. What did I do the whole massage? Think of other things I would rather be doing lol. Netflix. Drinking. Working out. Getting punched in the face, among a few others. Lastly the Groupon I bought said some type of "heat therapy," which I got because my pinched nerve feels better after heat compresses. No heat therapy, but honestly I was so tense after the massage I didn't even want to complain. With the level of service they provided, I would have just expected the masseuse to grab a "hot hands" with his working limb and push it against my pinched nerve. Maybe I've been a princess my whole life and most massages suck like this one. But I'd rather keep being a princess than get a massage as bad as this one again. They have an amazing deal that if you get a 55 min massage within 30 days of your last massage, it is only $49* (normally $90). I don't know about you, but at that price I can absolutely budget in a monthly massage! Also, if you sign up for their newsletter you have the opportunity to purchase a 2 massages for $80 deal. I enjoy the weekly newsletter email. Emails for appointments or with questions are answered quickly. Great doctor, easy to work with and takes as much time as you need to get you to understand the consultation and what methods he'd like to use in rehabilitating your bones. My rock star insurance does not cover initial visits until after I spend a certain amount of money. Thankfully the sessions I've had with Dr Wiesz have been affordable and within a few visits I have started to walk better and have less times of pain. At visits we'd work through some exercises I can do at home or seated at work to make sure that I'm always correct as well as regular therapy. My peers have noticed that I walk straighter now and all of this I owe to Dr Weisz. He's a mild mannered guy, really tall and pleasant to speak with. Anytime you spend any money on therapy or massages at the clinic, within thirty days you can receive a discount on your next massage. It's a great deal if you think about it and the massage lasts 60 minutes. He's got a few massage therapists both male and female. The office is a newer modern type of office; massage rooms satisfy the feeling of having a massage. Reminding you that this is a Dr's office and not a uber trendy salon so don't expect the lavish touches you may get at a salon parlor. The only happy ending is a satisfying deep tissue massage and getting a great discount on the next massage. Somewhere around $40 or $45 dollars for the next massage. I first heard about them via a Groupon for 2 one-hour massages for $60 and the 2 massages could be used by you or a friend. I scheduled and got an appointment within a few days and they allowed my relative to use the other massage on a different day. Obviously this deal is to create new customers for the practice, but the Dr isn't all about creating a customer. Consultation time matters on how much talking you do with the Dr. If you're there for the massage and haven't any serious back issues just say so or indicate that to him. $60 for two 1 hour massages! come on, you could listen to the man speak. Am I the only one who didn't like this place?! I came here with the Groupon deal and was ready to find my new location for regular massages. Before moving to Chicago, I got massages once a week (I know, I had to spoil myself with something). So, I thought this would be a great place to try. The guy who did my massage was very nice and he did explain that I'm tight on one side of my body due to me sitting at a desk all day and moving a mouse. His focus, fortunately, was that side. So far so good...until...the scratching or whatever the *h-e-double hockeysticks* he did to me next. For some reason he went up and down my spine and did something to it. All I know is that I had scratches up and down my spine (I mean, scratched and scabbed over). This was definitely not what I expected when I went. Plus, the kinks never seemed to get out, since he was trying all this fancy stuff... I did give him two tries (since that's what my Groupon called for), but even after mentioning the scratching hurt, it was the same thing. This place is fantastic! I found out about ChiroPractical through Groupon (2 1-hour massages for $60? Can't beat that!). Dr. Weisz was very welcoming and we chatted for a few minutes as part of my consultation. He was didn't pressure at all - I simply explained my aches and pains and we talked about how massage and/or adjustments could help. The massages I've gotten (I've had four overall, so far) have helped with my neck and shoulder pain tremendously. James was able to target the areas I was having problems the pain has greatly diminished. I think the best part about ChiroPractical is that they really focus on your personal health and the pain that is bothering you, unlike getting a massage at a spa where it's simply about relaxation. I'm going to Florida next month to visit family, and they golf. Not wanting to waste time in the heat learning how to hold a club and swing and all of that good stuff, I had my step-dad take me to the driving range to practice. For some reason, I decided to sleep on my sofa that night and woke up unable to move. My back was jacked to the point where it hurt to stand, hurt to walk and stairs were my new enemy. She's great. Very sweet, very conscious of the pressure she's applying and picking up on my reactions and most importantly, made me feel comfortable. I don't do massages. I have been going to see Dr. Weisz for years and am amazed at how knowledgeable he is about treating my spinal condition. When I am in a lot of pain, he knows just how to treat it and I leave his office feeling so much better. Got a massage deal here through Groupon (2 1-hour massages for $60!) and was pleased enough that I'm hoping to continue with massages here once or twice a month if I can. James was my therapist and did a stellar job, starting the massages with light pressure and easing into deeper, more therapeutic techniques. For my first appointment I got a full body massage which was very good but went way too fast, so for my second appointment I asked him to focus on a specific area, in my case on the shoulders and upper back, which was much needed. James made me feel comfortable and let me know if he was going to use a technique that would be more intense and/or temporarily uncomfortable, but which ultimately led to more muscle relaxation. He checked in with me throughout the massage to make sure I was comfortable and gave succinct explanations of what he was doing. Educational and relaxing at the same time! Called for a same day appointment. Asked if my insurance covered my appointment and was told "it's Saturday we cannot check on the co-pay" fair enough so I came in. Came in and said they checked in the insurance ( not sure how if they are closed on Saturday) and my appointment was going to be $70. More than twice the price of every other place I tried. Was told the doctor could "talk to me" about the insurance. What does that even mean? Sounds like they don't take insurance. I was initially weary when i went in for my first massage today for shoulder pain with James and first short consult with Dr. W. With a long history of sports related injuries, I had seen my share of MDs and DCs, and extremely weary of both. I wish this clinic existed 20 years ago when I first experienced back pain, anyway, I had my consult with Dr. W, and first massage with James. James was excellent, probably the best massage I had in a very long time, now that I have found this clinic I won't have to go to spas for deep tissue massages that have generally been hit or miss. This clinic caught my attention because of its emphasis on massage therapy, the only modality that seems to work for me for my stiff muscles from prior experiences. Besides the quality of the massage, the price is outstanding, in fact lower than massage prices in health spas I have gone to. Outstanding service and clinic !!!! read more

I had a group deal for here, so I went to try it out. The doctor was very nice, and my massage was excellent. I'm only taking off a star because the receptionist did not make me feel very welcomed. There was barely a hello when I entered. She didn't look at me at all. When I tried to ask questions as I left, she was pretty unresponsive. When I asked if I could see the massage therapist before I left (I was trying to give her a tip), she said "she's in the back somewhere." I started to go back on my own when it was clear the receptionist wasn't going to go, but the doctor was treating someone in the back, and I didn't feel comfortable walking through. I just think the service from the doctor and massage therapist didn't match the service at entry and leaving (and normally you get the opposite experience!). Sadly, I left without giving a tip or having a chance to thank her-- and she really deserved it. That being said, I definitely will consider going back. The girl that did my massage was so rough and super fast I'm not sure she was aware of any muscle tension at all. I got the Groupon Now to go here last week and was pleased, but probably wouldn't go back again. They were very nice and allowed me to get a message for the Groupon price the day after the Groupon Now was offered and after the Groupon Now was already sold out, so that was a super pleasant surprise. My deep tissue massage wasn't the best I've ever had (Richard, Massage America, NY, I miss you.) but it definitely relieved the worst of my symptoms. The masseuse did give me some insight as to what may have been causing symptoms and taught me some at home tricks to get rid of my shoulder pain, but she seemed reluctant to use a ton of pressure. I travel a lot for work and had some sciatica pains which is awful when you're stuck on a plane and can't move. Dr. Weisz talked through what treatments would help and how long he suggested I would need to come in. His office team got everything cleared with my insurance as well and after a few weeks the pain was gone. I went here about two years ago for what was advertised as a discount massage, which I desperately needed at the time and was anticipating the week leading up to my appointment. It was a massage at a chiropractic office, which I thought was a great idea. I've preferred massage over chiropractic, but I was willing to give them both a try. When I arrived, I was greeted by Dr. Weisz who was going to do a consultation with me first. That day in particular, I was in terrible pain with my neck muscles and was very much looking forward to getting all the kinks out. Dr. Weisz did a consult with me for about 45 minutes. I shared with him about my pain, thinking that it was just a step before receiving my much needed massage. I could barely move my left arm, the pain was that bad. I have experienced this pain since 2000 and I know that I just need a massage in order to get the muscles to relax. Instead of helping me or correcting the problem, he talked to me non-stop about all the chiropractic work that I could have done, or how I could buy some of the supplements that he sells. I was impatiently thinking this was just a step before my massage. Once he was done talking to me, I found out that after his attempt to sell me to come see him for chiropractic work, I was not going to be getting a massage that day. It turns out that the massage therapist wasn't even in. I would have to schedule a separate time to come in to see her. Turns out, the discount massage was in part, just a ploy to get people in to see the chiropractor. I understand that he wants to grow a business, but there is an ethical and unethical way to do so. I'm a patient without insurance. Do you really think I'm going to see a chiropractor at a couple hundred dollars a session when I KNOW that a massage suits me just fine?! I was very turned off by this experience and still very much in pain, and terribly inconvenienced for the time that I specifically took off from work in order to get my much needed massage. Because I'm a massage whore, I went to ChiroPractical Solutions for the cheap introductory massage ($35/1hr!) thinking I would just take advantage of the deal and probably not go back. However, I had such a great experience that I decided to go back for a second massage--and had an even better experience! My first visit Dr. Weisz was friendly and thorough but only kept me in the consultation for about 10 min and NEVER pressured me to buy anything--which I loved. My second visit Dr. W. was sitting in the reception area and as soon as I walked in he greeted me by name--which was totally impressive to me considering I'd only been there once and that was 2 weeks prior. Each visit, Liz was my massage therapist and she was great (and very accommodating). I have been so satisfied with my first 2 visits that I made a 3rd massage appt. AND sent an email to all my friends recommending it. AND writing this review. I have been using Dr. Weisz as my chiropractor for a few months now and couldn't be happier with the service I receive. I started going for neck and lower back pain and my life has almost been pain free since. The office is always pleasant, and the atmosphere there is very serene. They are always flexible with there schedule and are warm and friendly. I was very skeptical about seeing a chiropractor but am glad I decided to go with an open mind.
