I put this chip shop on my 'to do' list based on Gemma's review and am I ever glad I did. We arrived in Hove about mid-afternoon and went exploring. I had been looking forward to having fish and chips in paper my entire trip and this was going to be my moment!
My husband, not being much of a fish man, opted for a burger whilst I remained true to my plan of having the cod. The two guys running the place were extremely personable and made us feel welcome. The restaurant is small and only seats about 10 so I'm sure that most of their business is takeaway.
Much to my dismay, the beaches along this stretch of the English Channel are rock beaches and not sand so, being not properly equipped, we chose to find a bench along the boardwalk to have our supper.
The fish was fantastic... the burger, not so much. Apparently they had deep fried the burger in the same oil that was used for the fish and my poor husband did not enjoy his meal at all. I, on the other hand, relished in my selection and offered up a grateful 'thank-you' to my fellow Yelper.
I would definitely recommend this chippy for those looking for fresh, well cooked fish and chips! It really hit the spot! read more
