It was great that the skin had been removed and cod was fresh, but we weren't keen on the soggy bottoms. The portion was smaller than expected. Chips were thinner but tasted fine. They're at the pricier end for this type of food - slightly more than Harry Ramsden's - but you're paying for the location. We booked ahead for a group of 10. It's always a worry being responsible for a big group but I need not have worried: they had our booking, seated us immediately and took our orders within 10 minutes. Service was speedy though one order came late. But it was sorted straight away without any quibbles. The waiters were incredibly charming throughout. The food itself: those with fish did extremely well - generous portions, freshly cooked: one of our party had the largest portion of plaice I've ever seen. Pies also went down very well. The portions of chips (classic, thick, oddly-shaped chip-shop style) could have been a little more generous for the price, and two veggie sausages were disappointing.
