In the meantime, I took mental track of all of my favorite places for food, and this one made the top of my list. Literally, I drove all the way from Ventura for one of their sandwiches and planned the rest of my day based on that! I ordered Papa's Combo,and it was sandwich heaven! Just an FYI, Betteravia has become a litany of signals and traffic. Case in point for turnover, is the bank that closed then became Black Bear Diner at corner of Miller. Now it's Huckleberry's (with locations in Pismo and Fresno?). If you use Miller as your access point, you are better off. By the fact that this place is still thriving is a good testament to its service and food!

The trash cans inside the dining room were overflowing, which really stood out to me. I've been to many In-N-Out locations throughout Orange County and Los Angeles County, and I've honestly never seen one this messy. The women's restroom was clean, but my brother-in-law said the men's restroom was in pretty rough shape. The food was good as always, but my cheeseburger was disappointing. The lettuce was so pale yellow it was almost white, and it looked far from fresh. I've never had an In-N-Out burger with lettuce like that before, so I ended up removing it. Maybe it was because we visited around 11:00 p.m., or maybe it's just this particular location, but the overall experience didn't meet the high standards I've always associated with In-N-Out. The food itself was still good, but the cleanliness, restroom conditions, and lack of attention to detail really missed the mark. Because of those issues, I'm giving this location 2 stars. I hope this was just an off night, because In-N-Out is usually known for much better hospitality and consistency.

I went in to get Double Char Burgers (really good 5/5) and apologize to the G.M. (Larissa) because on my previous visit I thought there had been a problem with my order. I was (though I rarely am) WRONG, yet I was absolutely insistent that the problem existed. Much to my chagrin (which I only found out after talking with my Spouse later that evening) Larissa was correct and to resolve the issue she gave me a "Char-card". Well today, I went in to apologize (sincerely), look her in the face and tell her "I'm sorry, you were right, I was wrong" and to give her the free "Char-card" back. Unfortunately she didn't come-in until for several hours...BUT FORTUNATELY...her District Manager (Juan) was there and so I unburdened myself to him. I explained that Larissa treated me with much respect, she never raised her voice...and believe me, I really truly thought I was in the right so I was insistent, yet after actively listening to me (even though she KNEW I was wrong ), she gave me the card (GOD, I felt so guilty until I tried to return it today) to resolve the issue. I told the D.M. that Larissa always treats me "right" when I am there and he has a really honorable G.M. in charge of the Santa Maria Habit Burger & Grill. Larissa gives everyone great customer service...ALWAYS. So this is my "public" declaration of now unburdened shame and high praises for the Santa Maria Habit Burger & Grill, not only for having great offerings, but a G.M. that always puts her patrons first! Today (as on previous visits) this location truly earned another "highly recommend" 5 Star Review!

My kids and I arrived a little before 11:30 lunch rush and ordered at kiosk. Our food came out promptly but my salad had eggs which were frozen (visible ice around the yolk) and the cherry tomato was soft, while the avocado which looked a little brown/oxidized. All in all, it fell below the mark. There is only one person working the register and helping people with to go containers/food issues/pick ups, etc and they are clearly short staffed during lunch peak. If you need anything, you have to stand around for a while. They refused to give me a to go container for my club sandwich, stating that they could only provide a paper bag. It was evident that cashier simply wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible and had no desire to resolve my simple request. I can't recommend coming here during lunch rush.
