Order: chicken al Pastor bowl, green salsa, cheese, guacamole, lettuce, corn, brown rice, queso.
    Michelle F.

I rarely write reviews but I was so shocked by my experience tonight that I had to. If I could give zero stars I would. My recent visit was a nightmare of appalling service, unsanitary conditions, and blatant disrespect from the management. Upon arriving promptly for my pickup order, I found myself waiting for about 10-15 minutes while walk-in customers effortlessly received their meals. The discrepancy in service between walk-ins and online orders was baffling and raised the question: why bother ordering ahead if the service isn't expedited? When I finally approached the register to inquire about my order, the staff member seemed indifferent, disappearing to the back only to return with my bag as if it had been forgotten. To compound matters, our order was missing the chips we had paid for, setting a disconcerting tone from the outset. The store's lack of cleanliness only exacerbated the situation. Tables and counters were smeared with food remnants, and even the presence of toilet paper strewn about the halls added to the overall sense of neglect. Upon unpacking our burrito bowls at home, the extent of the incompetence became painfully clear. Grease and food residue coated the containers, indicating a shocking lack of hygiene in food preparation. Both orders were woefully incorrect and bowls were maybe half-full - zero meat in the chicken pastor and steak bowl I ordered, absent guacamole, the wrong beans and a scarcity of other essential ingredients. My mother's bowl suffered the same fate, devoid of meat and overloaded with sour cream she never even asked for. I have had countless burrito bowls at a variety of different chipotle stores and sure, orders aren't always 100% accurate, but never have I ever felt this grossed out and I'd rather not to eat a bowl of cold lettuce and sour cream. Efforts to address these issues were met with further disappointment. Attempts to contact the store for a refund were met with silence. After trying to call 3-4 times, we ended up needing to physically go back to the store in order to inquire for our refund. Upon returning to the store in person, we were met with a dismissive manager who not only demonstrated a shocking lack of knowledge about the company's own refund procedures, he outright refused to provide his name, proceeding to turn his back and shut the door behind him. We saw people we knew in line, told them about what just happened, and that's when the manager came back out, told us we needed to leave and called US disrespectful which was nothing short of disgraceful for anyone working in customer service... From the negligent staff to the deplorable cleanliness standards and the disrespectful behavior of the management, it is abundantly clear that this branch has utterly failed in providing even the most basic standards of service and should be shut down.

This is the worst chipotle service I have ever received. Absolutely terrible experience. My burrito was so badly wrapped it fell apart the second I picked it up--complete mess. To make it worse, the employee who made it seemed completely out of it, possibly high, and actually cursed at my friend when we asked a simple question. Totally unprofessional and unacceptable. Won't be coming back.

    Bad service

I've had several re-occurring incidents at this chipotle now. As a weekly customer, I've grown increasingly frustrated with the portions. In spite of the 2% price increase, when I order a chicken bowl, is a scoop of chicken too much to ask for? I wish luck and future prosperity to the incoming Lake Zurich location. Kildeer location is killing my calories!#nevercomingback

Service is not good. Doesn't matter if it's busy, you can still give good service. Waited 30 minutes for a pick up order as 20 customers went through line and got their food right away. What's the point of ordering pickup and prepaying if I have to wait in restaurant longer than normal in house customers. Ridiculous. Bring this up to employee and only get a measly sorry. They need to fix this problem fast. It's fast food. I coulda went to Hacienda and sat and got my food faster and better. Remind me to go to Taco Bell next time. This bowl cold meat is cold. I would like a refund for my meal.

Super friendly staff. Portions are always solid, food consistent and delicious. They were extra nice to my son today. My go to local store.

I took a booth and was given an extensive menu. The server offered chips and salsa. I was brought a small basket with about 10-12 large chips and a small shallow dish of watery commercial grade salsa in the basket with a tablespoon in it. Not having been given any additional plate, I guess I was expected to spoon the salsa onto the chips over the basket, because the dish was too shallow to dip a chip into other than the very tip of each chip. I ordered what I usually order at most Mexican food joints - taco dinner al pastor with onions and cilantro no cheese on anything including the beans. Service was prompt. The beans had cheese on them which I returned, and a dish came back without cheese, except when I took my first fork full, there was a strand of cheese left. The cook had just lifted the cheese off the original dish instead of replating the beans. The rice was formed into a perfect half moon shape on the quite large square plate. That is usually a signal to me that the restaurant is into portion control, as the aesthetics as can be seen from the photo attached make the rice look like a small amount. There was little flavor in the rice but something I did not expect - a slight fish flavor in the rice. Every fork full (only a fork and napkin provided - I guess the spoon from the salsa can be used as double duty) tasted like fish. That was a big minus. Either they use a fish base as part of the rice cooking process, or the cook used the pot for fish and didn't wash the pot prior to cooking rice in it. Or he was using a spoon that he was using for fish as well. Either way, I don't find fish flavored rice appealing. The beans were not puree and also contained whole beans, but were bland. I ordered the tacos with corn tortillas because I like the tortillas a little crispy, but these were somewhat soft. The al pastor meat has plenty of sauce and was minced. The meat sauce was very average in flavor, hardly any spice. Maybe the meat needed salt, but it sure needed something. There were two squirt tubes for sauce on the table, one green and one red. I tried the green sauce, it was too creamy, wasn't spicy and didn't do anything for the tacos. I finally used the remainder of the red salsa from the chips. I was given a few tiny wedges of lime (probably sliced also for the bar drinks) for three tacos, another indication of portion control over focus. I took a photo of this meal, not for reviews, but to show my girlfriend who was out of town what I was eating since she hadn't been here either. So I looked at the photo before leaving, and I then noticed that there were NO onions on the tacos despite asking for onions and cilantro. The kitchen wasn't slammed, so I just chalked it off to further inattentiveness by the cook despite the server's instructions. That may have added to the lack of flavor of the tacos, but it was really the al pastor sauce and seasoning that didn't cut it. All in all, I was disappointed in the meal. I didn't go to my regular place just to give this place a try. It seems the ball was dropped at every turn for this very simple staple meal at a Mexican restaurant. I would give this place a 4 out of 10 for the reasons given above. I wouldn't go again. The food was not terrible, but lacking in flavor, and the cook was obviously not into what he was doing. There are other places close by where the food is superior to theirs.

I'm a big fan of this concept with comfortable seating in a spacious restaurant, plenty of parking,…read moregreat presentation, friendly service, and attractive decor. Compared to similar restaurants in this space, I prefer to go here with friends for its generally quieter atmosphere and overall vibe. Maybe the biggest complaint here is that the food preparation can be a bit inconsistent between dishes, and between different meat types. That is, that the output can range from delicious to somewhat average (and sometimes overcooked), depending on what you order. For example the birria was super flavorful and served with very crisp tacos and a delicious consomme, but the cilantro-lime rice and refried beans felt like an afterthought. The smoked pork belly quesadillas had a great flavor and just about the right amount of fattiness that was short of perfection due to the pork being overcooked. The tres leches cake also had a great creaminess and flavor to it, but parts of the cake weren't really soaked in the milk at all, which created an inconsistent experience - depending on where I took the bite. On everything I tried though, the presentation was excellent and there were enough great things about each dish to overcome some of the shortfalls. Overall though, I feel with improved execution on ensuring that all elements of the dishes are equally good in terms of texture and flavor -- there's a lot to love about Ancho & Agave. But even in its current state, it's still an enjoyable spot to take a group of friends for tasty food in an impressive looking spot.

When we told our name for our reservation we were told it was going to be about 10 more minutes- even though the restaurant was half full. I was super confused because the entire bar was open and there were at least 10-12 open tables. The person checking us in goes "what you've never had that happen before?" - referring to having to wait for a table - SO incredibly off-putting and condescending. I told her she was being rude and she got defensive and giving us all these excuses- that the kitchen was backed up, etc. We immediately walked out. We were fine with the waiting but the way this employee handled things was insane. The way this should have been handled, and how it's handled in hundreds of other restaurants we've been to is: offer to sit us at the bar or ask if we want to get seated and then tell us there's a back up. or even say "I'm so sorry" Like at least show SOME hospitality. I emailed the location to say all of the above, and they did offer to send us something in the mail, but I will not be accepting. As soon as I stepped into the small establishment, which had postage signage that eating in the shop was unavailable at this time, I was warmly greeted. I had a slight panic because I didn't see tamales on the digital menu, but I shared with the gentleman behind the counter what I was looking for and he immediately checked the stock and told me he had only pork left, but in 4 different sauces. I ended up getting 6 in green sauce and 6 in red sauce. The flavors were really good! I like spicy so they were very enjoyable for me. The ratio of masa to filling was good. They retained their shape better as the days went on of me eating leftovers versus when I ate two boiling lava hot out of the bag.
