I would say it's time for an update! My hubby and I stopped in for burrito bowls, because it is my #1 pregnancy craving! Let's be honest, not only during pregnancy lol! I ordered the Burrito Bowl with carnitas, white rice, black beans, fajita veggies, cheese, guacamole, a little sour cream, roasted chili-corn salsa, fresh tomato salsa and romaine lettuce. It was an amazing combination that deserves 5/5 stars, I would highly recommend ordering my go-to!! We also tried most of the flavors of their Organic drinks and would personally recommend the addicting, oh so flavorful Organic Watermelon Limeade(not pictured)! I would HIGHLY recommend this convenient location, located in a great shopping center! We'll be back soon, when I'm having another craving! Not to mention my handsome brown eyes loves Chipotle just as much as I do! SYOY! :-) *Song used for video: Lofi Study by FASSounds Site: https://pixabay.com/music/lofi-study-112191/

The actual color of my guacamole on 8/21/2025.

Guacamole still suffering after all these years. Skip the guacamole if you're expecting bright green. I did a review seven years ago and it's still the same color - almost black. I took a fork and dipped into it to see if maybe it was just the top - nope - it's all dark. I love chipotle but I'd skip the extra cost of guacamole because they just can't seem to make it correctly at this location.

My order

Horrible experience. $18 for one quesadilla and small guacamole/no chips and $2 tip. The order was missing three items, and had been tampered with. Called them, and only got useless AI suggestions to go online with comments.

Yuck - wish we had a Rabbit or a Chicken.

I'm pretty sure the training you receive when you onboard at the restaurant informs you which parts of the lettuce go in the customer bowl and which parts go in what Rachael Ray calls the garbage bowl. This is the core. We don't eat that part. Off to TikTok to learn to make these bowls at home and not waste money any more on people who don't care about their jobs or reputations.

This Chipotle has an amazing staff that always serves me with a smile even when handling extremely high amounts of in store customers and online orders. I come here about 2 times a week. Today I came in on April 14th at 9:30pm and saw two female employees that always give me top quality customer service with a smile. I couldn't help but hear one of them needed a break and I asked about it and learned that someone called in sick and someone else quit even though they were scheduled. These women are warriors and had a positive attitude despite incredibly difficult circumstances. I hope upper management reads this and gives them the compensation they deserve. If you have to do the work of absent workers then you should be paid extra for the extra work. It would be a huge detriment to lose these quality workers because they are who run this store with class at night. Also even though they were understaffed the burrito was delicious.

Hearty, flavorful, and comforting, just like a good homemade Mexican soup should be. I've also enjoyed their wet burrito smothered in green sauce, a tamale without the red sauce on top, and a side of tamalito, a delicious sweet tamale! The perfect little treat to round out the meal. Everything is packed with flavor and keeps this hungry dino coming back for more! Now, this dino has traveled and experienced Casa Bonita in Colorado, and I'd call El Tapatío Citrus Heights' own little version! It's nowhere near as big or elaborate, but it has that same fun, immersive atmosphere. The colorful Mexican decor gives the place so much character, making you feel like you've been transported straight to Mexico. Pair that with authentic food, and you've got a dining experience that's more than just a meal! Rex Tip: Come hungry on weekend mornings because they offer a Mexican breakfast buffet! There are so many delicious, authentic dishes to choose from, including freshly handmade tortillas! Just be prepared for a line because this place is popular, and for good reason. We've happily waited our turn because the food is absolutely worth it! A little taste of Mexico right here in Citrus Heights that's definitely worth digging into! 5 ROARS from Focusaurus Rex!

As you enter the restaurant, it has the Mexican feel with dark wood accents tile floor, Mexican paintings, the staff had nice looking black uniforms with red ties looking very professional. We ate outside on the patio, which is beautiful and was much quieter. They started us off with chips, salsa, and a bean dip, which is fabulous. It was so good that was almost lunch itself. I ordered a Carnitas burrito. The flavor was good. I will say it had a different flavor than other Carnitas that I've had at different Mexican restaurants. I also had it wet so it was smothered with enchilada sauce. The enchilada sauce was also different as it was chunky. All very good. The burrito is quite large. I was able to take it home and got two more meals out of it. Brunch is still going on while we were there so my wife ended up getting the French toast which came with three huge slices and looked and taste delicious as well. The bad It took almost 30 minutes for the soup appetizer to arrive and another 25 minutes for the Carnitas. I had to ask for silverware and someone from the table behind me finally got up, went to the server area and got their own silverware. After finishing my drink I wasn't asked for a refill, and had to stop another server just to get some napkins. When the food was dropped off I asked for lime and never received it. The couple in front waited so long for the server to get them to go boxes that they too went to the server area and rummaged around until they found to go containers.

You're greeted with a welcoming environment featuring pan dulce, a little grocery store next door, and an extensive menu. The bar area was pretty busy too with many customers watching a game, fun! The cashier was friendly and had some candies for customers by the register--really tasty watermelon chili candy! We ordered the super burrito with chorizo and the pozole and while we waited we enjoyed the chips and salsa bar. I like that they have avocado salsa available, it's the best. Everything came out in a timely manner and was accompanied by real cane sugar mexican sodas in glass bottles. The pozole was quite yummy! This isn't a dish that is typically made well in restaurants but theirs was fairly good with the exception of a lot of bones but that is also typically expected with pozole. If left without the option to make it at home, Valencia's pozole may just be the next best option. The super burrito was just perfect. Absolutely satisfying and tasty. It's huge too so you can very easily get two meals out of it. I look forward to trying more of their menu, I'd definitely come back!

Unfortunately, our last three visits have been consistently disappointing, and we've decided we won't be returning. About a year ago, the manager (or possibly the owner) was always present. He was professional, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about both the customers and the quality of the business. Since we stopped seeing him, we've noticed a significant decline. We always order two Yucatán chicken salads. More often than not, the salads have had very little chicken. On one visit, the salad was completely drenched in an overpowering vinegar dressing, making it difficult to enjoy. More concerning, after each of our last three meals, both my husband and I became queasy within a few hours and experienced stomach issues that sent us running to the bathroom. After the third occurrence, we realized it was no longer a coincidence and made the difficult decision to stop eating here. It's disappointing because this used to be one of our favorite restaurants. We hope management takes these concerns seriously and works to restore the quality and consistency that made this place so enjoyable in the past.

The prices felt high for the quality and portions received. I ordered a carne asada burrito (rice, beans, meat, Pico, cheese) for $14.50. While the burrito was large, it was mostly rice and beans, and the carne asada itself was disappointing. The texture was closer to ground beef than the grilled steak flavor and consistency I was expecting. My husband ordered the three street taco plate with rice and beans for $16.50, choosing carne asada, al pastor, and carnitas. He had similar thoughts about the carne asada, and felt that both the al pastor and carnitas lacked seasoning and overall flavor. He also purchased a canned soda for $2.50, which added to what already felt like a pricey meal. I understand that restaurant costs have increased over the years, and I don't mind paying more when the food quality matches the price. However, between the lack of air conditioning, the mid food, and the overall value, we didn't feel the experience justified the cost. The service was friendly, which we appreciated, but with so many other local Mexican restaurants offering more flavorful food at similar price points, we don't see ourselves returning.
