Chini's Burritos is a small "Mom and Pop" Mexican food restaurant in Coral Springs. We've been eating here for many years. The food is exactly the same as it was when they opened. Always good quality and portion sizes. You can't go wrong with their burritos. I'm partial to the salsa verde version, but you can get salsa rojo or "Christmas" if you ask. The guacamole is home made as are the tamales. My wife loves the tostadas and my daughter always gets the quesadilla. They are super nice and always accommodating. I have lived in Coral Springs for 12 years, but I have never been, to my detriment, to this small casual Mexican restaurant that has been here for 23 years. The owners, Chini and Neri Enriquez, hail originally from Chiapas, Mexico, the southernmost state in the country, adjoining Guatemala. The menu is very curated compared to other taquerias locally, and the majority of the customers are Americans. Burritos and Tacos are the focus, but they also have stuff like chilaquiles and serve fish tacos (which most places locally do not). I ordered breakfast, huevos a la ranchera, and an order of tamales rajas (3). I tried to order the eggs with chorizo, but sra. Enriquez insisted I order it correctly -- on the side -- so I wasn't going to question that. All the ingredients for the food here are sourced from their family businesses in Chicago, including the chorizo and the tortillas made in Chicago, so everything tastes a bit different from stuff locally. The chorizo is excellent but oily, and you'll want to suck that up with tortillas. Rajas also were very good, with queso fresco and poblano chiles in it. Nicely seasoned. While the food itself is not spicy, they will offer you some of their homemade chile de arbol sauce, which is explosively hot (to me, anyway) so I encourage you to try that, and don't dump it on unless you know what you are doing. This place is snuggled right next to the walk off of university and royal palm in the heart of Coral Springs. This is within Broward county limits and it's on the left hand side place going northbound and right hand side plaza going southbound. The customer service is beyond genuinely kind, and they have so many incredible options. Just the smell once you open the door will have your tummy begging you for all there food. They were quick and gave extra extras and had a fridge full of drink options. I have been coming to Chini's since they opened 10+ years ago. We come to Florida every 4-5 weeks and I always come here and get the original steak burrito. We have NOTHING like this in Massachusetts and I get cravings for it every time I am in the area. The original burrito is stuffed with tasty homemade pinto beans, Mexican cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream. Wrapped in a large flour tortilla. They've started to add rice as well as that is more of a California burrito , but I prefer it with just the beans which is Texas style. What makes it special is the steak is tender, and even though it does not have sauce on top (that is the wet burrito) it is so incredible moist and flavorful with the marinated steak, tomatoes, lettuce and sour cream - add the 2 sauces ( I mix them) to make it AWESOME. It was $9.99 before COVID, now it is $11.99 but still totally worth it. Chini makes her own green (cilantro and onion) salsa and red (very hot peppery) salsa. I hate cilantro, so scoop out the cilantro leaves and add some red and mix - they are awesome together. Then I add it sparingly to my burrito. I usually cut it in half and hold it still in it's foil wrapper. Again, what flavor!!!! I have tried the shredded chicken tacos plate, with the rice and beans and the quesadilla with shredded chicken. The shredded chicken is full of flavor, having simmered all day and very moist. The rice and beans are good too, but it's always been the steak burrito for me - where everything is together! It is a small family restaurant so if you are looking frozen margaritas and staff in hats, this is not the place for you. This is like being in Mexico and stopping in a small restaurant to have authentic Mexican food. I first came here about 4 years ago and thought the burrito was pretty solid but didn't go back until someone heavily recommended their tacos. I had three carne asada tacos and they were excellent. Tasted completely authentic. Generous amount of protein and pricing was fair. I went back today and had a larger order. I ordered 6 carne asada tacos, this time they didn't taste as fresh and they weren't as generous with the protein portion. I'll let it slide because of the shrimp tacos, which were phenomenal. 3 empanadas which were decent. I'll go back soon and try the wet burrito once again. Overall nice spot. read more

CUSTOMERS BEWARE!!! Spend your hard earned money elsewhere!!! I've been eating Chini's Burritos for 8 years. Understand that the food tastes good but the quality of the way ingredients are kept and used in the kitchen is sometimes sketchy: cannot confirm 100% but seems like they may reuse other food that is returned by customers . Additionally, HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. The service provided is with an "I don't care" attitude!!! Workers complain to customers about wanting to go home and how annoyed they are to be there 2 hours before closing. Last time I was there, the lady at the front spent the entire time I was waiting for my food complaining about being there. Lastly, they changed their closing hours from 9pm to 8pm; there's no issue with that except for the fact that after 7pm the workers REFUSE to answer the phone for orders and sometimes they even CLOSE and LOCK the doors as early as 7:20pm when their closing time is at 8pm. COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING! PLEASE HIRE NEW STAFF THAT CARES ABOUT QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE. I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately the food is just ok. I ordered the fish tacos platter with rice and beans and the rice had a somewhat stale texture without much flavor and the beans were bland. The first fish taco I unwrapped (pictured) was under seasoned. The second taco had a bit more flavor but not in a lip smacking way. I also had hot salsa which was average. The service is ok as well, just basic service. I was the only seated customer in the restaurant the entire time and shared it was my first time there. The food was really good; I did a takeout. The only disappointing thing was the menu pricing. Both on the overhead, as well as the menu that was presented to me were not what I was charged. The gentleman at the front said "oh the prices have changed". I find it interesting that when the bill came, it didn't match anything that was presented in the store. What a big disappointment. First let me say that Mexican food is one of my favorites. I; every so often, look for a New Mexican restaurant to try. I found chi is burritos on Yelp so, I decided to give it a try. After a 20 min drive, I had arrived. As soon as I entered I noticed an empty restaurant with dirty tables, I figured I had arrived after a rushed of customers. I approached the register and an older gentleman who later I found out was the owner greeted me and asked what would I order. I asked for a few minutes while i checked the menu on the wall. I order a drink $2.25 on the wall menu and $3.00 when I placed the order ( after 2 years with Biden I am kind of used for prices to go up like that due to inflation) and for $0.25 I did not bother questioning it and, a burrito $13.00 which I thought was some what high of a price. I figured it will come with chips, salsa, pico de Gallo... boy I was wrong.. this was a plain burrito served on a to go box with nothing else, I get more at Taco Bell for $6.00. I must mention that after placing my order I went to wash my hands and noticed that the restroom needed a lot of attention. While I sat down it was clear to me that the chai's had not been cleaned ever. The back of the every chair has more grime build up than wood. So, if you are the kind of person that prefers to eat at a clean restaurant, this one is not for you, as far as price versus quantity neither. The food is nothing special either. If the owner does not care about the cleanliness that his/her customers will see when they come in to his restaurant, much less is he/she going to care about the areas you don't see. I read tons of amazing reviews about this place so hubby and I decided to try. Walking in, the place is small, and homey. You walk up to the counter and order, then sit and wait. There are a few full dishes, but everything seems to be a la carte. I got the chicken taco platter and guacamole and chips. I can't remember what hubby had. I was expecting to be wowed, truly, but I wasn't. The chicken tacos were alright, but not the authentic experience I wanted. Chicken was shredded, and not seasoned all that well. Forget about spicy, it needed more salt! Rice was yellow (a plus), but a bit hard, like it had been sitting there a while, the refried beans were good. Our guacamole was freshly made, and it was good, but I had to add a bit more salt and lime juice. Salt I understand, it's a taste thing, but the lime should have been on point. I hadn't had Salsa Fiesta's guacamole at this point, but if I had, I'd have been extremely disappointed. Price, my dish was about $10 and the guacamole about $6 which is not bad at all for University Dr, but I wasn't entirely satisfied with the meal. It just needed something. Maybe my expectations were too high. I find that when I read tons of reviews before hand this seems to be the case. Would I be back? Maybe to try one of their famous burritos, but I wouldn't become a regular. read more
