This was the absolute best Chinese take out I have had in a long time. I ordered the shrimp with broccoli combo and it came with an egg roll and I ordered a wonton soup. The egg roll was delicious and the wonton soup was simply amazing. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I asked for lite sauce for the shrimp and broccoli and they liked it in. hands-down, the worst Chinese takeout I've ever had in Wilmington. The eggrolls were too thick and dry, and the pepper steak felt like there was hair as a coding. The onions and peppers were not cooked, and the sauce was off. I even ordered wonton soup, but that tasted watered down. Go somewhere else! read more

The other evening, we decided on getting some Chinese food to appease the complex cravings our family was having. After running through suggestions, we settled on ordering from China Wok for the first time. Our son loves General Tso's Chicken so we ordered that for him but upgraded to pork fried rice. My wife had the pepper steak with steamed rice and I ordered the Mongolian Beef with pork fried rice. Without going into crazy details about a simple takeout Chinese dinner, it met expectations. I'm not a big fan of yellow fried rice but I didn't think it tasted terrible. Our son? He wasn't a fan of the rice at all but did enjoy the General Tso's chicken, itself. My wife's pepper steak was hot and tender, rice was steamed well and she had zero complaints. The Mongolian Beef was also on the same level as hers with flavorful slices of beef, fresh veggies and served hot. I ordered this dish with medium spice but couldn't taste much heat so if I order this again, I will be ordering it as full-blown "spicy". It's good Chinese food and is right in line with pricing of similar restaurants. Nothing to rave about, but nothing bad either. I have been ordering delivery & pick up from here, for at least 17 years and the food has been classic mediocre American Chinese. With the extra attitude the owner gives, it's as if he's doing you(the customer) a favor. I arrived today to place my regular order of Shrimp fried rice to be made with white rice, not that god awful yellow rice. Been ordering this with extra egg for over a decade and now they say they don't do that anymore. Laughing & giving me the eye... I explained who I was and how piss poor they're customer service is. The son said it was beyond his control, I said your dad standing there looking. His dad looked at me like what?? Take it or leave it. I left it to never return and share one of the worst experiences ever. Save your money & blood pressure and go to Jade Garden in Castle Hayne... they always accommodate with a smile. Food was ok service was ok. I didnt notice it last time I ordered food from here because my husband is the one who went and picked it up. The entire shopping center is covered in spiders. I dont mean one or two or even 4 or 5. I mean COVERED! They are on the chairs and benches outside, above the door, near the door handle....everywhere. My husband is working in another business on the other end of the plaza and I've taken the broom to the spiders on that end. But the amount of spiders on that end do not compare with the ones near the Chinese Restaurant. I'll eat from there again but I wont be picking it up till they do something about the spiders! It's difficult, if not impossible, to find great Chinese food in Wilmington. There are a few fusion places, like Indochine, that are pretty decent. China Wok is our neighborhood Chinese Delivery option. The food is mediocre at best and no, the staff doesn't smile, but they do deliver when you don't want to go out. The delivery drivers are always kind. The food is not consistent, sometimes it surprises you at how good it is, and then the next time, the egg rolls may be dripping with grease. My favorite is the Shrimp Egg Foo Yung. Not quite sure what to make of the yellow fried rice?? Eating in is like the worst experience ever. read more

I'm not saying it's the best Chinese I've ever had, but they do earn a solid 4 star! The chicken wings on shrimp fried rice, wonton soup, and egg rolls are my favorite. We usually order this and an entree (for two of us) and it's plenty. We've had about everything on the menu and haven't had a bad meal. read more

They are the rudest, I've never had a positive experience with these people. Anytime me or someone else calls them they always have an attitude and we all can feel them rolling their eyes over the phone. They are constantly saying they don't deliver, but the day before they do deliver to us. Either you deliver or you don't (having drivers not available at the time is a different story). The food is only mediocre at best. They said crab rangoon and fried cream cheese wontons were the same thing when they are not. What if someone had a shell fish allergy? Ordered delivery - first of all, I don't even usually do delivery in general, but it was a rainy night, etc. Delivery took 2 hours, with no help whatsoever when I called at multiple points in that time to see how much longer it was going to be. "I don't know." We lived a total of 5 miles away. When you wait that long, pay $26 for food you know is going to be mediocre at best anyway, and then, have the food not even be mediocre, but bad, yeah, that sums it up to 1 star. Decent food but the service is poor. We wanted to find a nice chinese place that delivered. We live 3 miles away from the store. We ordered 3 times and tipped the drivers well. Despite the reviews on here, I have never received poor service from them! I have been coming to this family owned business for as long as I remember - perhaps 13 or 14 years - and their food has been consistently amazing. They really do work hard every single day to try to maintain their business and their family. I would definitely recommend China Wok to anyone around the community, you won't regret it! My family have been eating here for several years.we order take out and delivery all the time so today we call for delivery and we are told they will not deliver to us anymore because we don't tip every time.mind you we live about two blocks away and most of the time they just walk to our house. as of today we are done with them.
