We split their better than anyone else's (even mine) breaded tenderloin sandwich, fried mushrooms (homemade) and later will polish off a piece of homemade carrot cake. The tenderloin was freshly hand battered, as were the mushrooms. The batter was crispy and light, and enrobed a nice thick piece of tenderloin. If you are a tenderloin fan like we are, you gotta try it. Big enough for both of us with some leftover for later. Our takeout bag included salt, ketchup, and plastic ware. What I didn't expect is the bread and butter that they also included! I knew from reading the reviews that every table gets this bread service. I was very impressed that they included it in takeout. We will be back soon, and I hope to try other menu items. But that tenderloin is sooo good, it will definitely be a struggle to order anything else.

We looked at the menu and we all decided to get the same thing, the breaded pork tenderloin sandwich. I had the sandwich with onion rings and coleslaw. The tenderloin comes on a bun with pickles, tomato, onion, and mayo. I asked them to leave the mayo off of mine and they did. I chose to put mustard on mine and it was on the table along with ketchup. They have Pepsi products and I ordered a Dr. Pepper. My husband had the fries with his tenderloin. They were incredibly quick on getting the meal out to us. Everything was piping hot! Our waitress was good about checking on us and refilling drinks. Also they have bread service and we had fresh hot bread with soft butter prior to getting our meal. My tenderloin was meaty and pretty good, hubby thought it had too much breading. Coleslaw was ok. Onion rings were good. Someone came over to our table to ask if we would like one of their homemade desserts, I am assuming he was the manager. My friends took home a piece of carrot cake and they said it was good. The other offerings they had on this evening were peach cobbler, blackberry cobbler, and a couple different cheesecakes. Overall it was good and we decided we would go back again to try something different on the menu.

The restaurant could really use a good deep cleaning and a little more attention overall. We arrived about 40 minutes before their afternoon closure, and the welcome wasn't exactly warm. The chicken and shrimp were tough and hard to chew, and the rice tasted reheated. The jalapeño tempura was very good and definitely the highlight of the meal. The crab rangoons had good flavor and a nice crunch, but they were extremely greasy, very sweet, and had very little filling. There's potential here, but right now, they have some work to do. A little more pride in the cleanliness, food preparation, and overall customer experience could make a big difference.

The cafe is located in the converted historic ROM Webber furniture factory. The Big Four cafe name honors the railroad line that used to pass through town. Courtney, our server, was friendly and attentive. She kept water filled and checked on us frequently. Food came out quickly. I had the Herb and Garlic Chopped salad, which was beautifully plated, fresh and delicious. Romaine, tomatoes, onions were topped with cheese and avocado. The garlicky vinaigrette dressing was tangy. I I also had a cup of the Texas Chili, which was topped with cheese and jalapeño slices. The beef was tender and the soup base slightly spicy. My husband had the Cuban Press (at Courtney's recommendation) and it was tasty and hearty. The sandwich was made using Indiana ham, slowed cooked pork and melted cheese. He said his sandwich was an easy 5 stars. Don't miss the beer battered onion rings which are fresh made and delicious. (I stole a couple of his rings.) There are roomy restrooms with changing tables. Free parking is available in front of the building. Worth a visit.

I am somewhat familiar with the cuisine, and I had to stop myself from ordering everything here in order to increase my familiarity. Additionally, they are big tempeh makers and while it wasn't overly clear in writing, they made it clear that most of their menu items can be done vegan. They don't mess around in hitting all of the major taste notes (sweet, savory, sour, salty, umami). Starting with a ginger tea and a spring roll, I was already wowed. That tea had a tremendous kick and just enough sweetness and came with a lemongrass stalk for added flavor. My spring roll had a nice mix of noodles and veggies and was delicious. A side of fermented cabbage was complimentary; it was fine and probably healthy. My main dish was a mee goreng, stir-fried noodles. This dish is sort of like ramen in that you can get cheap mee goreng in a package (it's all the rage in Australia) and it's satisfying junk food, but the elevated restaurant version is much better. The version here is incredibly savory; no one uses fried onions better than Indonesians. Some sort of Asian greens added variety to my dish. They had a little storefront and I took a jar of tempeh in chili sauce. Their hours are somewhat limited and I'm not often in the area, but if I am I will definitely come back. Indonesian cuisine has not really penetrated the U.S. much, but this place had a lovely family atmosphere and the food, even if you are unfamiliar, is very easy to like.
