Overall: Your standard Chinese food take out place! Location: Ok, so I'm going to be honest up front. The location of this place is not the best... The plaza looks like the property owner gave up and left years ago. It's in poor condition and mostly vacant. It basically contains this restaurant, a smoke shop, and a liquor store. It's not a place I'd bring kids. It's just got creepy dark alley vibes. This is not a sit in place. It's a place you grab your food and go. Food: A friend of mine introduced me to this place when I was hanging out at his house one time. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the food is. Especially the boneless spare ribs. They are really good (and I've gotten them a few times now). I'm now a repeat customer of this place, even though the location is terrible. Staff: Friendly! Not much else to say. The interaction is just paying for your food and then handing it to you. Cost: Typical cost for Chinese food. read more

This has got to be the worse chinese food i've ever had in Ct , i was in the area and decided to stop in because it's been years and how dissatisfied and disappointed i am is beyond words. I ordered a half a chicken and the chicken was so dry and hard like if it was cooked 5 times in old grease. The rice was a total no for me it was also super dry i do not recommend it at all read more

China Sea Restaurant - Chinese Near Me - Ansonia, Connecticut

The food I've enjoyed all of these years is gone. I've heard rumblings that in the last year or so, they went downhill and now I've confirmed its true. I used to drive the 20+ min for my favorite American Chinese dish General Tso's Chicken. China sea always made it best. Well after a long day of work and gym I decided to take the drive. I was on a call outside and found it strange that there wasn't a steady flow of traffic in and out like there used to be. Went Inside, service wasn't warm and welcoming like it used to be. Got my food, drove home and ate without taking pics bcuz I knew I had gotten this dish so many times and previously posted pics. First observation was that it the rice looked different. It wasn't the fluffy light fried rice I was used to. It didn't taste good (to me) it had some kind of sauce, maybe soy(?)Incorporated. Yuck. And then the chicken... it was solid from overcooking, but not crispy and there were a lot of smaller bits and pieces, not the delicious chunks that I was used to. The sauce was just okay. Also got fried wontons. The filling was skimpy and they were definitely over fried. They were hard to eat and didn't dip well in the sauce. The sauce was yummy. A positive is that they now offer online ordering! But It really was a waste of $20. And if the food was a little off, I could understand because on occasion every restaurant/chef has a bad night ... but this was like I was eating at a totally different place than the 1 I've enjoyed since my teenage years.... I need the quality back... read more

Best Chinese take out in the Valley! Never had a bad dinner from them .. Always quick and fresh.

As always great food and great service! This is our go-to Chinese spot and faithfully order at least every other week! Have tried others in Ansonia and none of them come even close! Plus they're the best family ever! read more

I love the food from here and would not order Chinese any place else. The prices are good and when the food is delivered it is always hot and delicious. I love the chicken and broccoli, egg roll, and chicken soup with rice the most! read more

This is the best Chinese takeout I've had around the Stratford/Derby area. The service is always fast, and my order has always been correct regardless of if I order for 1 person or 10. read more

Stopped on a whim the other night for dinner.... Overall the food was pretty good. Ordered small ribs, 2 spring rolls & 2 Combination Dinners - General Tso & Roast Pork w. Chinese Vegetable. Received free cheese ragoons because our order was over $35. They do have other options based on the dollar amount you spend, which is a nice perk. The ribs and wings were much better than other Chinese places. As far as the dinners go they were tasty. Even though we got the cheese ragoons for free I would not order them again. They used too many wonton wrappers which caused the ragoons to be chewy and they held a lot grease. I would go back. The place was busy for a Wednesday night very surprised and the staff was friendly. read more

I had ordered honey chicken wings with fries. I loved it I've had it before. This is sweet and sour sauce and the fries are completely soaked in it. I ordered $60 worth of food and this is what mine was. I have always ordered from them and loved their food for many years. This doesn't happen often. And this is my first time complaining or calling them to complain. The girl who answered had a bit of an attitude. The person that came on afterwards who said he made it told me I should have ordered the chicken wings and the fries separate. He didn't even offer a credit. I'm very unhappy about this. It's really a shame. I never had a problem with orders before and had hoped he works have compensated.. lesson learned read more

Place went downhill and I mean fast. There was a time when this place was so good. Not anymore. Beef and broccoli tasted heavily of fish. Called and asked for a replacement and got argued with by the owner. No more. read more

Friendly staff and delicious food. Got the orange chicken with pork fried rice and it was great! Def coming back for more!!!

Dont go here. They lie to customers namely the owner. I placed an order and when he gave me total it was a bit more. He said he raised prices 1 year ago but my last order less than 2 months ago did not reflect. Could have made me a lengthy customer a one time good will gesture. He does not value good customers. Stay away. Many others to choose from. Spend elsewhere. read more

Just moved to the area. Tried all others and this is the best Chinese restaurant. I only order here now. Delicious and on time for delivery. Thank you. read more

Beat Chinese food I have had in along time. They didn't short on flavor and had some great selections I have never seen before. We enjoyed the orange beef (similar to General Taos's chicken), boneless spare ribs, lo mein, beef and baby corn. The fried dumpling was the only thing that wasn't my favorite. It was a little doughy for my liking. We will be coming back. read more

Ordered boneless spare ribs with pork fried rice. Found fly in rice, disgusting. When I went to pick up the food, seen workers in kitchen not wearing masks and coughing. THIS PLACE DOES NOT CARE FOR HEALTH OF OTHERS read more

Posting this on behalf of my dad that doesn't use the internet. lol. He wanted a quick lunch on his way home from our house. He stopped by here a little after they opened and ordered chicken chow mein. He said it was tasteless and actually threw it out. He said he will not be returning. read more

Today I was just wishing for a Chinese food meal....the kind you found on your plate many years ago. China Sea is just that place! most Chinese restaurants specialize in its own ethnic background, so it may not be too easy to pinpoint. The review on Yelp says it delivers, so I called in an order. A very short time later my food appeared. As I enjoyed my food I realized that this is what I had been craving. I would imagine that if you are a "super senior" you will feel as I do. Happy egg fu young, happy wonton soup, happy egg rolls, and on and on into the past. It's found at The China Sea in Ansonia, Ct. read more

For many years we always had a good experience with this restaurant. The last tone we ordered, the order was messed up. After 5 attempted calls, it was finally resolved. Gave them another chance. First thing said," order to be delivered " get a call when are you picking up your order. All done!!! They will NEVER get our business again!!! read more

I really wanted to hate the food from China Sea because I have always been a China Garden fan. But tonight I couldn't leave to pickup the food because I take care of my 2 elderly parents and can't leave them alone. So I had to find somewhere else to go and so I got online and checked out the Chinese food in my area. I was not cooking tonight so...I decided to give China Sea a try. I also read on "Next Door" that China Sea was highly recommended. Wow, I LOVED it. The free crab rangoons (thank you so much) were so creamy and had a great crab flavor. I was truly worried about the boneless spareribs because those are my favorite, but they were better than CG's theirs are usually burnt and tough. But CS's were not fatty and they were very tender and a lot of meat too. The roasted pork fried rice and house special lo mein where really good and loved the garlic sauce on the broccoli. I will definitely go back. The only thing that I thought was just okay were the roasted pork egg rolls but I can live with that! Again, thanks for the free crab rangoons that were awesome! read more

This is one of my two favorite Chinese restaurants in the world. I've been Lucky enough to try Chinese foods from tons of major cities but I I've going home to the Sea. I love the wonton soup, egg rolls, steamed dumplings chicken fried rice, sweet sour chicken, chicken with garlic sauce. All yummy. Everyone there is so friendly, they treat you like family. By far the best American based Chinese food in the valley They are a small family shop so if they say they can't deliver it's because they'd rather not short change people on quality and it's worth the pick up trip The generals chicken and Fried chicken wings are the best I've ever had G Soltis read more

Only part of are order was delivered after spending $50 and waiting over an hour. Wife calls and spoke with some guy with a bad attitude and he says wah you wan me to do bout it!? He said your going to have to wait at least 30 minutes. After going back and forth a little bit my wife says this is the last time we will order from you. His response was good. Their food isn't bad but we won't give them our business ever again. They have no customer service skills and i don't speak chinese. Delivery guy seemed nice but he gets tips. read more

Always friendly service. They were recently robbed (or someone attempted to rob them) we happened to call while it was happening and they said "we have situation, we call you back" and you know what, two hours later they called us back and apologized. Wether it's perfect food or not, that's respect. They had nothing to apologize for, but their care for their customers speaks volumes. Good people is all I can say. read more

The pork fried rice is really good, the portions are big as well. The chicken wings and French fries are fantastic.

I had a house full of unexpected guests and took a chance. I had heard that it was good but it was better than I anticipated. Everything seemed to be cooked fresh. The chicken and rice soup was delicious, my husband said that the beef with orange was good but not the best he'd ever had. Brother in law said the beef with curry was excellent. The pork fried rice was so good, not greasy at all. All in all very happy with my choice of restaurant. Next time I will have to get the donuts, heard they are so yummy and the are still warm. read more
