We went on vacation with my husband and two kids and I'm super picky with Chinese food and I eat only from one certain place back home and I wanted to try from China Max so we ordered shrimp fried rice and chicken wings and fried shrimp as well let me tell you it was delicious and I fell in love. Everything is made to perfection the way I like it. It was so good we ordered twice more before we left and on top of that my husband was so happy that they had homemade iced tea he bought 12 to take back home. Had a taste for chicken wings and shrimp fried rice. I was a bit skeptical because I'm use to getting that combo from the "hood." Usually Chinese restaurants in the suburbs disappoint me. Not this one! It was fresh and the chicken had that taste of being cooked in "seasoned oil" ( if you're a true fried Chinese food fan you know what I mean!). My rating used to be higher for this place when the old owners still ran it. However, ever since they got new owners the food hurts my stomach. I don't know what they're doing differently to the food or dare I say it, using MSG? And the pain in my stomach is like a very tight, bloated feeling. Out of the 2 Chinese restaurants in Atco that I am aware of, this one is the best. Food is always hot and on point. Prices are reasonable and the service is great. I can't say I don't like this restaurant. But I can't flat out recommend it to you. Let me explain. This place has good food and the food is the most important part of a restaurant. I usually get the noodles, but there's quite a lot here and plenty of variety. The people who work there are pretty nice. Not very nice. Pretty nice. You can usually see the kids doing homework or playing around. It's cute. Anyway, I think it's great if it's night and you don't have a meal planned. Although, be warned there's this Chinese food stench throughout the room that's sometimes smelling good and sometimes smelling not-so-good. But the worst thing the restaurant has going for it is certainly the wait time. Seriously, have something to do because it can take a while. While definitely not insultingly long, it can take a while to get some food in your tummy. I don't think too high or too low about it, but I'd say it's worth trying out. read more

Tonight was our first night trying this place and we were not disappointed. We got free rice, egg rolls, and fortune cookies with our order and I even got a free calendar. The shrimp was a good size and the beef in my beef and green beans dish was nicely sliced and had a good texture. I am, definitely, come back to this place. read more

Hey lived in atco for 7 years this chinese restaurant was my go to place for take out food, the first 5 years of going to China max in atco was exceptional the food was always cooked to perfection the prices were reasonable the service was quick and on time if the female who took you order whether in person or by phone if she said 15 minutes it took exactly just 15 minutes from start to finish i loved going here on a consistent basis at least 4 times a week always treated with great customer service as well then for some reason over the last few years there food was beginning to show signs of being poorly made heavy grease filled rice all the time that smelled rancid appetizers and entrees i have ordered that was rushed because the food below subpar at best and taste less or dishes that were over cooked or smell of being cooked in old fryer oil that was not changed in days everything else stay the same except for the food and a slight creeping increase in prices over the years now i wouldn't think about going back to China max because it once great overall experience of reasonable great chinese food has diminish into a disappointment of what it once was read more
