Anything from Beef & Broccoli, Egg Fu Young, Cashew Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, or Pork Lo Main were just mediocre. Our food was pretty good, especially the Sweet and sour chicken. The egg rolls were nice except very little meat in them. My Pork Egg Foo Young was nice except the pork was really chewy, kind of like it was defrosted and reheated. The sauce was delicious and so was the Egg pattie. read more

I'm not a huge fan of China Kitchen. It's not terrible, but I'm never in love with what I get. Their sauces are bland and watery. I prefer Rice Wok on Plainfield or First Wok or Three Happiness on Alpine. SUMMARY: There are better options, but the food was fine. We ordered: - Szechuan pork - Pork fried rice Total: $16.01 after tax The rice was better than a lot of the terrible buffet fried rice around here, where it's just normal rice with some veggies tossed in. But it's not as good as Beijing Kitchen (my top spot so far) or Chopstick House. Szechuan pork was slightly sweet with a water sauce, and way too many veggies (mainly carrots) instead of meat. It's not like they completely ripped me off with the amount of meat, but the other locations mentioned above both gave more meat in their pork dishes. This place also didn't toss in napkins or sauces, and I didn't see any duck sauce sitting out to be grabbed. Long story short, I was not thrilled with this place. It's certainly edible, and I don't have any real complaints, per se. My complaint is that, while it's good food, it's not good relative to other options. We won't be coming here again, but it's edible and has reasonable prices. It just can't compete with other Grand Rapids options. read more

Stopped in today for 2 lunch specials and it was very good. $4.75 is decent price for a large entree with deep fried crab rangoon and generous helping of steamed or fried rice. They have open kitchen and my order was cooked while I waited. Cashew chicken and sweet and sour chicken were very good and my family will be back. This place was great! At first my husband and I were kind of unsure of it when we walked in, it's not dirty or anything was just one couple in there enjoying their food. We walked up the counter and the employee greeted us well, she was very nice! The menu is your standard American Chinese food; sesame chicken, general tso's chicken, sweet and sour chicken, egg yoo pho, pork mooshu and so on. Their prices are what is awesome! Only $4.95 for lunch for rice, meat, a few pieces of broccoli and 2 crab ragoons! They plate it very well and let me tell you what, that sweet and sour sauce for the crab ragoons was AMAZING! (Turns our they home make it!) The rice was just OK but when you add the sauce from your sesame chicken or sweet and sour sauce it gets better. The sauce on the sesame chicken was SO good. Not your average American Chinese sesame chicken flavor, it was much richer and thicker in the sweet and then nutty sesame flavor. My husband got the general tso's chicken and I will warn, at this place they stick true to the spice of it, it wasn't blow you away spicy but it had a kick. He also really enjoyed this dish. Overall, if you want a GOOD American Chinese food for a good price, lunch or dinner, I highly recommend this place! It's just a little tricky to get to, you have to make sure you're looking around back right next to the lake off of Northland DR to see it. Enjoy it! read more
