This review is based on only the cashew chicken and crab rangoons. I thought the cashew chicken was horrible! I ordered all white meat and I think they gave me a mixture of white and dark meat. A lot of the pieces were chewy and soggy. The sauce was runny and way too heavy on the oyster sauce. However my mom said that the crab Rangoon was the best she has had. The other places in republic are much better for cashew chicken in my opinion. Try China Wok on scenic (republic road) for some really good cashew chicken. read more

Last time I was in here after getting home, I found out I did not have any red sauce for my boneless spareribs. I called up to tell them that they didn't give me any sauce, and they told me they would give me sweet-and-sour sauce, totally different. They pretty much didn't care whether or not, I had any sauce or not. You Used to get really good service and good food here, not anymore. I do not recommend. read more

The crab Rangoon is great! I didn't like any of the other food we tried. The sauces all tasted very processed and almost chemical.

Pretty awful food, especially if you compare it to some of the "Kings" of Chinese in Springfield (China Wok or Hong Kong Inn) IMO. Sauce is watery, expensive for the amount of food you get, "fried rice" is just oiled white rice, will not be returning. read more

Being new to Republic it's been hard to find a new Chinese place. This has been the best we found and we've now tried them all. The food and service were all ok the food was much better than the other places in the area. It was still not great though. I doubt we will return and from now on will only eat Chinese when we are in Springfield. read more

When another Chinese restaurant was closed for the holiday week, we made our way to Republic, Missouri and stumbled upon this diamond in the rough. Even though it's smack dab in the middle of a strip mall with McAllister's on one side and Village Inn on the other, this gem really shines! There is nothing fancy to the interior, the ambience is a bit stark (but quite clean), and the uninspired menu represents all the familiar fare you're likely to find in most other Chinese take-out places in the area. That being said, the fresh food is where they excel. Their CRAB RANGOON's were fresh, crispy, and stuffed to the brim with fluffy clouds of sweet cream cheese. I had the healthier wok sautéed HUNAN CHICKEN in spicy black bean sauce with tons of broccoli, carrots, & mushrooms. It reminds me of a dish I had all the time in England during college! I even asked for extra spicy and could've gone hotter. Based on other Yelpers recommendations, we tried the crispy, lightly battered COCONUT CHICKEN which, I must say, was a stunning departure from the ubiquitous sweet-and-sour order. There was plenty to take home which made for a complete second meal. Therefore, at the low prices, we ate for less than $5 each. So..if you're in the area, try it and let me know if I was simply super starving. It's just that they cooked everything to order (which did take 10 minutes) but that made all the difference in this Chinese take-out experience! read more

This place is great (and I've been to other China King's), but this one is fantastic. Crab Rangoon's are stuffed full. Food is always freshly made (hot). We typically get the beef hunan with black bean sauce (hot) or the Bourbon Chicken. It comes with rice, veggie's and fortune cookie and it's very affordable. I think for the family to eat it was $19...... I love this place and frequent it alot as there are no other quality Chinese places in Republic. Changsha is gross, Diamondhead has made me sick 2 times and I'm not aware of other options. Most of the folks in here are helpful (although some speak broken English). All in all though, they have never flubbed an order-and I'm betting we've ordered carry out at least 15 times from them. read more

One of our "go-to" places for Chinese, service is fast, friendly, family operated, food is priced fairly. We always get the pork or shrimp lo mein with a side of crab rangoon. The dipping sauce is always included but I love them without. read more

So far the best Chinese we have found in republic, the family fun noodle was recommended to me by a worker and it did not disappoint! It's a yellow curry noodle dish with beef, pork, shrimp and chicken. So good! I get it every time now. The crab ragoons have a really nice filling but are always very greasy on the outside. The sweet and sour sauce is a little... Different. I'm not sure what is in it, but it's not my favorite. If they would improve the greasyness and the sauce - 5 stars for sure! read more

DONT EAT HERE IF YOUR WANTING CASHEW CHICKEN. Prices are absolutely ridiculous, portions are smaller than anywhere ive been. Chicken reminds me of the frozen chicken patties that have been thawed in the microwave then over cooked and lastly the cashew sauce was absolutely grotesque, the second I took the lid off the sauce all I could smell is an extremely rich cup of coffee and after trying 5 or 6 bites to give it the benefit of doubt I had a worse opinion of it then the first bite. The food is pretty much always good. The main problem is that they get the orders wrong all the time. At least 1 and 3 times that we order, the order is all mixed up and we have to drive all the way back to have them fix it. We never order anything with outlandish special instructions. It's usually something small like cashew chicken with no cashew nuts. But then we get it home and there's cashew nuts all over it. Or we order coconut chicken and they forget to put the coconut sauce in the bag and we have to go back for the sauce or will be eating dry chicken and rice. It may not seem like a big deal but when you drive all the way into town to pick up your order, drive all the way back home and start dishing it out, and then realize you have to go all the way back into town to have them fix something, it definitely gets extremely frustrating. They are always good about fixing the problem, it just sucks that there's a problem to begin with. I finally told them the last time that I was going to start checking orders before I leave with them because I hate making a second drive into town just so I can eat dinner. This last time that we made an order it was to cashew chicken meals with no cashew nuts, one lemon chicken, and one coconut chicken. When we got home and started pulling everything out of the bag we realize that they gave us to cashew chicken with cashew nuts, no lemon sauce for the lemon chicken, and they put cashew sauce over the coconut chicken meal but included the coconut sauce in the bag. I had to go back for my lemon sauce, for a dry chicken and rice to use with the coconut sauce that we got in the bag, and told them that we would like to free cashew chickens with no nuts for the next time that we ordered since the kids were starving and we went ahead and just had the kids eat Anyway by picking the cashews off of their meal. Like I said, not a ridiculously big deal but extremely inconvenient for sure. Especially when it happens as often as it does. They are the only good Chinese place in Republic as far as I'm concerned so we continue to eat there. But it would be nice if they could get their orders right. read more

This is a great Chinese restaurant. There are clean tables to enjoy your food, or you can get carryout. They can get backed up during busy times. This place wasn't too good with the previous owners, but they are very good now. Prices are very good. Lots of vegetables the way i like it. read more
