It is nice to see a new Chinese restaurant open so close to home, but after being there twice now I have yet to be impressed. I've tried the Sesame Chicken, the General Tso Chicken, as well as, the pork fried rice and egg rolls. Everything was bland. I'm not sure exactly what it was, but there is very little taste to anything. I was looking for Chinese food tonight...didn't feel like going out so I was reading some Yelp reviews and found China Hut. Placed my order for delivery from the website (Whitehall location) and paid online. It gave a time of delivery and the food arrived on time (about 35 mins.). The food was pretty fresh. We ordered the General Tsos Chicken and Chicken and Broccoli dinners with egg rolls. I got the brown rice and it was a little dry but not too bad. The flavors aren't super strong...didn't seem as salty as Chinese food from other places. The egg rolls were a little greasy but good overall. We'd order from this place again for sure! read more

I believe they sold me a day. old whole fried chicken. It was so dry and old from probably repeatedly being fried. My girlfriend works third shift so we didn't try to eat it until after they were closed. But they said you have to call the same day. I just wanted the $6 or so chicken replaced on a $33 order and they wouldn't do it. How smart to loose a customer paying this on every order for $6 and some change. Just greedy and don't value their customers. The fried chicken was the only thing worth it anyways and they cut corners on that. Really smart business. read more

I walked in to this newly opened Chinese restaurant and was pleasantly surprised to see how clean and open it was. The place is set up to be like a regular, grab and go Chinese restaurant, and the menu looked very typical for what you would expect. The prices were very reasonable, and the staff was friendly. Worth checking out, especially if you work or live near MacArthur Blvd, as they have cafeteria style seating and delivery available. read more

This is my second time ordering from here. This time I ordered online. The process was quickl and simple. Food was delivered earlier than expected which was great. It was hot and fresh. Today's order was crab meat wrap, spring roll and bourbon chicken lunch special. I love bourbon chicken so was hoping it wouldn't disappoint. Very good. If you're a fan of the bourbon chicken you get at the Chinese restaurant in the malls this is way better. Its almost as if they slow roasted the chicken and let the sauce caramelize. Perfect. The Food quality has dropped off. They used to be the best in Whitehall, but once they gained a good reputation they started to cut back way too much. Ended up having to order from a different restaurant.... Do not eat here unless you're trying to get yourself sick. One word to describe my food - spoiled!. Took two bites of my szechuan beef thinking there was only something wrong with the 1st bite. Nope. Ended up spitting out both peices. Took one bite of my boneless spare rib and spit that out too. Having been Happy Garden regulars, we have found a new favorite place! Great selection, easy ordering and pick up, and the food was fantastic! Lots of flavor, and big portions! I ordered two General Tso's Chicken Dinner Combo on June 2 and realized that they had deceptively bulked up each pea-size chicken and enclosed it with a thick covering of cornstarch and flour. I called to find out why their recipe changed for the worse, and the young girl said that it had not but that I should have requested, "all-white meat." What? My problem is not with the food as it is fine. My issue is that after being told my order was big (which I would think would be good for business) it would be a 40 minute wait. That was ok. What was not ok was that I sat in my car in the parking lot (due to virus restrictions) for 50 minutes past my promised time. I ordered at 6:30 and got my meal at 8 p.m. I had guests and we were all starved. Also 8 is too late to eat a big meal. Even if they provided updates it might have been tolerated. I did call in for a status of my order and was told a few more minutes, but it was at least 20 minutes more. Meanwhile all the other cars were gone. Very simply, received that old stale rice that dries out and turns into crumbly rice pellets( best I can describe it). Its the worst. You can squeeze blood out of a stone, before finding a single full sized grain of rice. I can't be the only one who hates paying for fresh Chinese take out only to be extremely disappointed with 12 hr old( or probably even older I'd dare to bet) stale rice bits. I call and very politely begin to state my problem, only to be rudely interrupted. I was told that my order was delivered at 7:20pm and it is now 9:25 pm! I had errands to run after work and was going to eat when I get home. like that's the reason for the trash I received! It was trash old stale rice at 7:20pm, 9:25pm, or even 6:20pm. So they got me for $29. I threw the food in the trash and will NEVER patronize their business again, I suggest everyone else do the same. $29 for some bad fried rice sucks smh. This was our third time ordering from China Hut. First time I walked in I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the place and the food was very good. Second time the food was ok. This last and I mean last time the food was horrible. We ordered spicy beef. All we got was onions and peppers no BEEF. As soon as I walked in the door instead of being greeted with a hello she yelled out my phone number and said extra charge for sweet and sour sauce. Ok ok no need to yell. Stopped after a doctor's appointment in the area. Since it is located in a small strip mall, parking was plentiful. Was very impressed by the cleanliness of the place including the restrooms. Lighting was bright both the result of the artificial from the overhead and natural from the large front windows. Staff was friendly but professional and attentive. It is primarily a takeout establishment so seating is limited to about five tables. The food was excellent, is prepared fresh and portions were generous. Be aware there are no frills that a sit down restaurant may provide. For example, no courtesy fried noodles and dip are provided. If you want something like that you must order. We enjoyed an egg roll and veggie lo mein. They have a large menu to choose from and we plan to return to sample other items. I chose to order from China Hut today because they had really good reviews, but I have to say that my experience was good and bad. Once I got the food and had a chance to eat it, it was really great. However the experience receiving the food was not so good. I placed the order online and paid including a tip. I had scheduled a time to pick up the food later that site first suggested. I arrived 25 minutes later at my designated time, but the food wasn't ready. I continued to wait for another 35 minutes and still had no food. I then ask business about and all they could say is that they were really busy. After watching other people pickup their order, I ask them what time they were scheduled for pickup and they had a time 30 minutes later than my pickup time. I finally received my food an hour and a half later from ordering. If it wasn't for the fact that the food was pretty good once I got it, this would have been a total disappointment. read more
