I miss living near Downtown Orlando for all the Asian restaurants. This side of Clermont is still growing and after trying a few other places here China Gourmet is my go to whenever the cravings hit! 4 Stars - reserving a star for next trip. The service was quick! We were checking out the businesses in the small shopping center and we happened on in to this place. It has an extensive menu. If all their items are as good as the ones we ordered, it's going to be great! We ordered a lunch special of General Tsao's Chicken and rice and an order of Mongolian Beef with rice ToGo. We got our meal home within 15 minutes and it was still piping hot. Love that. The Mongolian Beef was delicious and spicy - which we loved! The General Tsao's was also scrumptious! We were very excited to have this local find added to our list of favorites. Hoping our future orders meet the same high bar that is now set! Note: a few tables are inside. It's been a long time since I reviewed this one. Still a wonderful place with consistently good food. They are a family run business and after coming here for 10+ years I can say the food is still the same. I tend to special order things and they always deliver. I have never had a bad meal here and have tried many different items on the menu. They always know who I am when I call in and I get friendly greetings from multiple workers. I always get fried rice with no onions and a usually a chicken dish. I like mine spicy and tasty. The egg rolls are quite good and I like the boneless ribs on occasion. Prices have gone up over the years but portion sizes have remained consistent. If you are looking for good Asian food in the area I find this one better than any of the others I have tried for carryout. If you haven't stopped in recently, they seem to be reopening the dining room finally. read more

Would easily be five stars, but their deliveries are handled through Door Dash, and I'd much rather give their own employee a large tip as opposed to third party delivery fees. That said, their food is decent, I can say that after trying four of their dishes. Fried dumplings are excellent, their Lo-mein is above average. Came here because our hotel is close by and it was the highest rated spot so we decided to check it out. Ordered takeout and we were in and out in about 10/15 minutes. I ordered the sesame chicken for my kids and for myself the Mongolian chicken. Everything was actually really good AND flavorful! Typically takeout Chinese is very greasy my entree was yummy with a hint of spice/heat I ate it all! I tasted the sesame chicken it was sweet and delicious as well and not overcooking. Only downside was the fried rice wasn't really fried looked and tasted like white rice with a splash of soy sauce. Definitely check out this spot! read more

Our family was in town to visit the amusement parks. We were looking for a quick place to get some to go food. Found this place and glad we did. Very easy to order and took about 15 min to for them to cook the food and hand it to us to go. Food is not sitting around so you will have to give them time to cook it. Flavors were good and we didn't have any complaints. I don't remember what the inside looked like so I cant comment on that. We noticed a lot of food delivery people coming and going so they must be doing pretty well. Also means the food turn over is good. Two stars because they seem to be using fresher ingredients and not overcooking everything but the food is extremely bland. There's no seasoning or flavor. You have to salt your food a little bit. The peas in the pork fried rice felt freeze-dried. The sweet and sour chicken is gross. The batter is very bland. You should marinate the chicken or something. No flavor. So if I was to go solely on taste, I'd rate the location 5 stars! And DoorDash did a quick job of delivering our food on a holiday! However I'd be remorseful if I didn't say anything about what I found in my food. On my second serving I found a pebble. At first I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt thinking it was a large chunk of pepper, but it was in fact a very small rock. Luckily I was able to catch it before I chewed it or ingested it. That said, I'm really satisfied with China Gourmet, I think it's pretty good. All the stuff I like to eat I think they make well. Now I do want to point out that my review is based off of Florida Chinese places, I think some people try to compare a lot of places down here to places up north, so of course you're going to be disappointed. I appreciate that (most of the time) their food isn't overly greasy. Chicken on a stick is great. The crab Rangoon is good, potstickers are good. Most of the time the chicken in their dishes isn't over cooked and tough like jerky. They've had a few hiccups as the hot and sour soup had starch lumps in it and the mushu can be very soupy and too sweet and the pancakes are flavorless so I usually throw those out. Recently the chicken/pork fried rice has been lacking on egg, meat and veggies. It's been mostly rice. It is average for a Chinese hole-in-the -wall takeout. This used to bey regular Chinese take out and I continued to make a special stop even when they lost all neighboring businesses however I am officially done with them. I ordered my dinner sweet and sour pork while waiting a tall girl with long hair was walking up and down the food line while running her hands through her hair it was Disgusting. I really enjoy there food, due to a medical condition chinees food is one of the few foods I can enjoy when eating out so I have had my share. I am not crazy about the fried rice which is why they didn't get a 5 start from me, but there low mien and chow mien are my favorite and the crab rangoon is also one of my favs!!! read more

I'm sorry to say this place is not as good as it was when it first opened just last year. Cost cutting measures and a lack of care in the kitchen have yielded several mediocre meals for us. Chinese vegetables now seem to consist of LOTS of celery with a few carrot cubes, slivers of flavorless onion and baby corn pieces thrown in. Not quite the same as bok choi, water chestnuts or other traditional ingredients. Flavor is still definitely on the bland side no matter what we've ordered these past few months. Meats are covered in sauces or thick fried dough but still very tough and dry. Some sauces aren't even mixed properly, leaving unsavory globs in your mouth. Even worse, some of our meals have been burnt and definitely taste that way, as well. We can hope they improve their game here, but until we get word that they have, we probably won't be back for more. read more
