This is seriously great Chinese food. They don't do delivery anymore since Covid, but that doesn't stop ME! The owner, May, is so incredibly kind and always get the order right even if we modify things. The portions are better than average. The food is definitely always fresh & I think made in-house. They used to have dine-in, but stopped that even before Covid and the quality is even better than before, which was hard to beat! I always get the steamed pork dumplings, an order of egg rolls (which contains two, & I think are the best egg rolls I've ever had, ,not kidding & I'm from NY lol) Also have had the combo chicken broccoli platter which comes w an egg roll & pork fried rice. Excellent! Nothing is too greasy or salty. Ok it's the only Chinese place on Big Pine Key but that is NOT the reason I'm blowing up this spot. Drove 30 minutes to pick up and 30 minutes home. One hour of my day. Ordered General Taos chicken. Opened the bag at home and got Orange chicken instead. Called the restaurant. Gave them my order #. Girl tells me "Orange chicken and General Taos chicken are exactly the same". I am quoting her. I politely told her no they weren't. I wanted spicy not sweet. Apparently it's exactly the same pre-fab chicken with an extra spice thrown it. Anyway, she takes my phone number and says they will replace the order next time. Ok. Whatever. I don't care. Not driving another hour. Here's the kicker. An HOUR later she calls me back to tell me her cook says he didn't make any orange chicken and now she wants to argue with me about it. Basically calling me a liar. Really??? Please keep your replacement dinner. Apparently they would rather have no repeat customers than to admit any fault. BTW, this was our first time ordering here since COVID. (and our last) They have changed the packaging of the takeout boxes. No more styrofoam. SMALL plastic boxes now and you get about 1/2 the portion size as pre-COVID. The prices have increased as well. Off the list. Never again. read more

The portions were generous. The egg rolls were extremely greasy. It filled the pouch it came in (we had it delivered) was filled with oil. That's disgusting. Since there aren't many options in the lower keys for delivery food, we ordered delivery tonight for dinner. The general tso's chicken had a good flavor but was a bit tough. The crab Rangoon had minimal crab and the egg rolls were average. The food was almost cold upon delivery and the most frustrating part was that I specifically asked for extra soy sauce packets and a couple of the other sauces and the bag had 2 mustards, 2 duck sauces and no soy. The positives are that they deliver ($5 fee, $15 minimum) and it is he only Chinese that I know of in the area. Maybe a better experience next time dining in? read more

They served me some fried rice with a bug in it. It was part of a dinner and I had company so we had 2 dinners. After my guest ran out sick just from the thought I brought it to their attention. Granted that can happen at any restaurant. But they lost because they wanted to take the side of rice off my bill. I get the sweet and sour chicken every time I go and it's always fresh and hot. The business brings new people in every year who speak very little English but by the time they leave, they speak great English. My guess is people from China come here to work for a year to learn English then go back to China and I am happy to help and support them! This place gives you a tasty meal at a reasonable price. Of course like all restaurants they are better at something's than others. ( egg foo young not so great, was soggy). The stir fry is the way to go. I am thankful for China Garden It's taken care of my Chinese cravings for 16 years and there's a lot to say about that. I do not chance eating at any other Chinese Restaurant because I have gluten intolerance - I order stir fry without the soy sauce just a white sauce and never noodles. Also always steamed rice instead of brown fried cause that has soy sauce "which has wheat gluten in it". If I go when they first open there's less chance of cross contamination . Don't let it's location in a shopping center fool you, this place serves some of the best Chinese we have found anywhere in the country.
