Ugh. $50 down the drain. The almond boneless chicken and fried wontons bordered on burned they were so darkly fried. The gravy for the chicken dish had way too much soy in it and was lumpy. The meat in the wontons was tough, and maybe beef? The crab Rangoon was dripping grease. And the color of the pad Thai was a strange pink that was off putting. You can see into the kitchen which was in disarray and dirty, the cook was putting something in the fryer from a container that was not refrigerated. It was a little worrisome. The service was quick but if you are looking for decent Chinese food this is NOT it. The flavors are not there in any way. The fried rice is not fried rice at all just plain white rice that they attempted to add flavoring to. I had the sweet and sour chicken which honestly wasn't terrible but my boyfriend hated his chicken and broccoli. The fried rice was the worst part. I thought this place was pretty great. It was exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. It sounds cliche, but coming from nyc I feel we have pretty good Chinese food... this place reminded me of the quality and taste you get back home. The chicken was really fresh and not chewy and the to-go box was STUFFED. I had a ton of food and excitingly ate it all. The chicken and vegetables was spot on what I needed and I wish I would have ordered more egg rolls. They were perfection. The crab Rangoon's are also really great. I've learned that day 2=leftovers are usually delicious and in this case I wasn't disappointed. I ordered soup and a noodle dish. I ate the soup and chose to wait on the noodle dish. The next day I heated up the noodle dish for lunch and...nice! I suggest ordering a dish to go if you have a particularly busy schedule the next day as an already prepared meal would serve you well. This new Chinese restaurant just opened in Vandercook Lake right on the main drag, McDevitt, right in between Tanfastic & Dollar General, by the Hague intersection. I was excited to see a Chinese place opening up, something different & Vandercook doesn't have much variety. So I went and tried it with my daughter and I was very impressed. You order at the counter and can get it take out or eat there. They are very friendly & it's an open kitchen, you can see in the back so you know the food is fresh. They just totally remodeled it so it is very clean with lots of authentic Chinese decor. There are about 4 or 5 booths & a couple tables. But I had no problem finding a place to sit. We placed our order then sat & the food was cooked in about 10 minutes, It came out fast and hot. I ordered crab rangoon & sweet & sour chicken & both were delicious. My daughter ordered Moo Shu Pork & it was also very tasty. The servings were very big & the prices were reasonable. I ended up taking a lot home. I highly recommend this place. I like to see small, local businesses succeed. I will defintely be back again and will recommend it to all my friends read more

Although it's the only Chinese restaurant in a small town, it menu is pretty vast! The food is solid and they do cater. There is a large dining area which could accommodate a large group and the traditional Chinese dishes are always solid. The dumplings are a highly recommended appetizer! The only down side is, it's often pretty warm in the restaurant, so in the summer it could be a little uncomfortable for dining in. read more

The first time I ordered from here I got the Shrimp with garlic sauce and my husband got the Hunan chicken and we also ordered some crab rangoon's and spring rolls on the side. Everything we ordered was GREAT! This time I ordered the Hunan shrimp and my husband ordered the Hunan triple flavor and we also ordered the Bao Bao platter appetizer Bottom line the food was GREAT and I don't plan on eating anywhere else in town because this place is the winner!!!! Outstanding Chinese food in an ordinary looking restaurant that does a major takeout business. Don't let its looks deceive you--the food here is fabulously good. My garlic chicken is the best I ever ate, filled with vegetables and tender slices of chicken in a tangy, spicy, scrumptious garlic sauce. My wife loved her steamed shrimp and veggies. So good! This restaurant just opened at the end of 2013 and we're already regular customers... I recommend the sesame chicken, lo mein, or chicken with mushrooms. I've never had better rice! The service is friendly and generous. Definitely a much needed addition to the Vandercook lake area. read more
