Chicken tasted like fish, rice tasted like they never cleaned the pan. took the food back and had an argument with the owner about giving our money back constantly was telling me it's chicken not fish and I told him I know it's not fish it's chicken that taste like fish. I just would like my money back argued for a few more minutes. Finally gave me partial of my payment back. read more

Food was okay! Service was kinda rushed. As you half to order before you sit down. The ambiance was completely empty. No one was there on a Friday night. @6:30 $51 for the three dishes and 3 sodas. Pretty expensive and the food was a 4 between 1-10 They don't have good drink options. Water. Coke. Fanta orange. Husband and wife set up. Their two kids in the kitchen watching videos. read more

China Chef - a variety of chinese food on a table - Chinese Near Me - Jackson, Michigan

The service was quick but if you are looking for decent Chinese food this is NOT it. The flavors are not there in any way. The fried rice is not fried rice at all just plain white rice that they attempted to add flavoring to. I had the sweet and sour chicken which honestly wasn't terrible but my boyfriend hated his chicken and broccoli. The fried rice was the worst part. If you're looking for something decent skip here and try to find somewhere else. read more

Ugh. $50 down the drain. The almond boneless chicken and fried wontons bordered on burned they were so darkly fried. The gravy for the chicken dish had way too much soy in it and was lumpy. The meat in the wontons was tough, and maybe beef? The crab Rangoon was dripping grease. And the color of the pad Thai was a strange pink that was off putting. You can see into the kitchen which was in disarray and dirty, the cook was putting something in the fryer from a container that was not refrigerated. It was a little worrisome. The white rice was good. read more

I thought this place was pretty great. It was exactly what I was expecting and hoping for. It sounds cliche, but coming from nyc I feel we have pretty good Chinese food... this place reminded me of the quality and taste you get back home. The chicken was really fresh and not chewy and the to-go box was STUFFED. I had a ton of food and excitingly ate it all. The chicken and vegetables was spot on what I needed and I wish I would have ordered more egg rolls. They were perfection. The crab Rangoon's are also really great. It seems like anything you get is pretty solid here. Glad I stopped by this little joint. read more

China Chef - Chicken and vegetables - Chinese Near Me - Jackson, Michigan

This is our first time eating at this place we have lived hear for 17 years I'm not sure we will go back. The fried potstickers were good the steamed ones were ok The shrimp egg role was good but way over cooked The crab Rangoon was just ok The chicken moo goo gai pan was just ok The fried rice we couldn't eat it smelled and tasted terrible As you can see we ordered all our favorites to see if it was going to be our new favorite place and unfortunately not The place was very clean, the person who waited on my was very friendly and professional, while I was waiting lots of customers came and went with their orders so apparently they do a pretty good business. read more

Crab Rangoon so delicious!! Ordered the shrimp & mushroom dinner with fried rice. Leftovers were just as good.

Let me first say, I was pleasantly surprised! I am stuck at home quarantining until my test results are back so I reluctantly went through DoorDash and ordered from China Chef simply because it's close. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was delicious! There was plenty of chicken and a good variety of vegetables. Even my Dasher Nicole was awesome. read more

The best place for Chinese in Jackson!! So much food for the price. People are always friendly and the crab rangoons are to die for!

I've learned that day 2=leftovers are usually delicious and in this case I wasn't disappointed. I ordered soup and a noodle dish. I ate the soup and chose to wait on the noodle dish. The next day I heated up the noodle dish for lunch and...nice! I suggest ordering a dish to go if you have a particularly busy schedule the next day as an already prepared meal would serve you well. Happy I did! read more

This new Chinese restaurant just opened in Vandercook Lake right on the main drag, McDevitt, right in between Tanfastic & Dollar General, by the Hague intersection. I was excited to see a Chinese place opening up, something different & Vandercook doesn't have much variety. So I went and tried it with my daughter and I was very impressed. You order at the counter and can get it take out or eat there. They are very friendly & it's an open kitchen, you can see in the back so you know the food is fresh. They just totally remodeled it so it is very clean with lots of authentic Chinese decor. There are about 4 or 5 booths & a couple tables. But I had no problem finding a place to sit. We placed our order then sat & the food was cooked in about 10 minutes, It came out fast and hot. I ordered crab rangoon & sweet & sour chicken & both were delicious. My daughter ordered Moo Shu Pork & it was also very tasty. The servings were very big & the prices were reasonable. I ended up taking a lot home. I highly recommend this place. I like to see small, local businesses succeed. I will defintely be back again and will recommend it to all my friends read more

A good way to force your customers to eat in their car. Heat your dining room to a balmy 56 degrees when it's 20 degrees outside. I understand it's warm around the wok dude but turn on the heat. read more

Best Chinese in Jackson the food is always hot and fresh, quantity is good as well. Forget the rest and go here.

Although it's the only Chinese restaurant in a small town, it menu is pretty vast! The food is solid and they do cater. There is a large dining area which could accommodate a large group and the traditional Chinese dishes are always solid. The dumplings are a highly recommended appetizer! The only down side is, it's often pretty warm in the restaurant, so in the summer it could be a little uncomfortable for dining in. read more

I have tried a few different Chinese restaurants in the Jackson area and this is by far the best. The first time I ordered from here I got the Shrimp with garlic sauce and my husband got the Hunan chicken and we also ordered some crab rangoon's and spring rolls on the side. Everything we ordered was GREAT! This time I ordered the Hunan shrimp and my husband ordered the Hunan triple flavor and we also ordered the Bao Bao platter appetizer Bottom line the food was GREAT and I don't plan on eating anywhere else in town because this place is the winner!!!! Try it, you won't be disappointed. read more

Outstanding Chinese food in an ordinary looking restaurant that does a major takeout business. Don't let its looks deceive you--the food here is fabulously good. My garlic chicken is the best I ever ate, filled with vegetables and tender slices of chicken in a tangy, spicy, scrumptious garlic sauce. My wife loved her steamed shrimp and veggies. If you are anywhere nearby, don't miss it! read more

So good! This restaurant just opened at the end of 2013 and we're already regular customers... I recommend the sesame chicken, lo mein, or chicken with mushrooms. I've never had better rice! The service is friendly and generous. Definitely a much needed addition to the Vandercook lake area. read more
