This is the cheapest and still delicious Chinese buffet you'll find in the valley, the service is great if you like eating and minding to your own, decor is nothing to write home about, but I still recommend this place, good, cheap food with all the fan favorites of bigger buffets without the crazy price read more

Food is okay but the owner or management is horrible. Food is just okay, nothing special. Prices are a bit high considering the quality of food. Not very clean. More flies in here than at an outdoor taco place. My main complaint is against the owners/management. No matter how full or empty the restaurant is they sit you where they want. Even if we're the only ones in here. And the way the yell at you when you're walking toward a table/booth you want. Next time I'm turning on my google translate to see what the heck they're yelling at us. I'll stick to HEB Chinese food until Lotus Inn opens read more

I went with my family to eat at the China Cafe in McAllen. The vent that was above me where I was sitting was dripping water. I tried to complain to the manager, but she ignored me by pointing to the waitress and signaling if something was wrong with the fan. When we got there we wanted to sit one table behind us, but hostess didn't let us. read more

This is one of the very few authentic Chinese restaurants in the Rio Grande Valley. General Tso's chicken is very good. Chicken lo mein is delicious. Green beans, bean sprouts, and baby bokchoy are out of this world. Its garlic chicken has no flavor. It needs to add some chicken broth to sweeten it a bit. Hot and sour soup is too thick, not authentic. Service is good. The lady owner has no smile. She's like a Chinese robot with a stiff face. In spite of that, I still go there almost every week because the food is good. If I lived next door, I would go there every day, if my health allowed me. read more

Restaurant was very peaceful and clean. Service was provided rapidly and the food was delicious and had diversity of options. Prices were especially reasonable! Will come again. read more

China Cafe - Prices - Chinese Near Me - McAllen, Texas

I've had better and will pay more for higher quality food and less "entertainment". Price: 4 Parking: 4 Service: 4 Food: 3- Selection: 3 Decor: 3 Facility maintenance: 2 Cleanliness: 2 Ambience: 2 My son chose China Café for our family to celebrate his birthday. He likes the crayfish and sushi. We love him but tho rest of us were not impressed. Prices are reasonable: $7.99 for the lunch buffet plus 1.99 for refillable sodas or iced tea; the latter was brewed but not the freshest. Their target clientele is identified by the menu which includes jalapeño chicken, menudo, nopalitos (cactus leaves) pizza, molded "chicken" nuggets, etc. They also offer the usual buffet items that have little meat and lots of salt. Their cheese rangoon was surprisingly good, savory rather than sweet. I tried some sushi which was good. The noodles were very good. The egg foo yung was greasy. The spring rolls were heavy on ginger. The desserts were manhandled by the hands of unattended small children. The building has seen better days and could use a facelift. They also need to get a contract with a good exterminator. This was the unexpected and unwanted entertainment. While we were eating we noticed something flying across the dining room. At first I thought it was a big moth. It attracted the attention of some people from another table too. They got up and followed it to a chair nearby, and loudly announced "es una cucaracha!" (It's a cockroach!") I went to see for myself, and they were right. The server came over and knocked it off the chair. Since it ran towards me, I stomped on it (reminiscent of doing the Mexican hat dance.) The server quickly disposed of it and explained, "they sometimes come in from under the door." Not reassuring. The bathroom was reasonably clean. The server was nice and was great at multitasking. She kept our drinks filled, used plates cleared, and did her best to keep roaches out of sight. I don't think I'll return. read more

Really amazing food, different variety, and great memories for the whole family they even have dessert and a little bit of ice cream. This is a great place to visit and it's not that expensive. read more

The owner is rude and has terrible customer service I would not recommend anyone to eat here. There was also a lot of people coughing.

There's nothing special about the restaurant. It's your typical Chinese buffet. I will give say this it's nice to see that the food is in small portions which means you get fresh food when it runs out. They have a sushi bar but I wasn't really surprised they all the rolls tasted the same. Maybe it's just me but some of their chicken was very salty. Had fruit for dessert but it was hard and not juicy. Service was good staff seem to be nice and attentive. Restaurant it self was well kept just a suggestion when you go wash your hands be careful because the water pressure is hard and you can get wet. read more

They charger you with drinks all the time even if f you drink water. I see one of the main complaints from people for years is the people in the check out especially the woman owner are rude and don't even tell you thank you for coming. You ask her a question about the bill and all she says is yea, yes, yes, yes, and nodding her head and never answer your question. The food is decent. But, the price isn't. read more

I think its terrible service they are racist to black people i dont like it and the owners are not nice and they need to be more diversified because if they treat all darker skin people who are minorities that are people of color bad than no one should go there i think they need better customer service there read more

we love this place . my family and I have been coming to china cafe for the last 12 years and the food is always on point with flavor and hot. the owners are super awesome , they go above and beyond for their customers . we never go anywhere else but here when we want Chinese. the crab legs on weekends is a must try!! read more

It's a Wednesday evening before church and me my brother and my dad went to this place. I had very low expectations of this place and it did not go well. The chicken was really hard. The sweet-and-sour tasted really bad. The lo mein aftertaste was horrible. The service was nice and we didn't have any complaints. The one thing I will say is the honey chicken was the best that I've had everything else was just trash. No good do not recommend coming here. read more

Five adults went for the buffet one afternoon. Got pinky toe nail inside coconut macaroons. When showed to the owner they were first quiet, and they said they will take the macaroons out of the buffet station. Then while paying, they said some customers kids might have put It! AaRestaurant staff wear gloves in the kitchen so it could be the customers - who touch everything! How bizarre! i told them I won't pay for the buffet they said they could probaboy give a dollar off! and made pay as well! read more

The owner was rude when we wanted to switch tables. Because of the people that were coughing. Didn't make any of the people wear a mask that were coughing. I ended up getting sick from the food. read more

Rude service, love the food but the lady "cashier" don't even say thank you she mad dog you they should be happy we choose this place every weekend . I won't be going back they should really work on customer service read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Food that was supposed to be hot was cold (breaded, meats) food that was supposed to be cold was warm (cheese cake, sushi). The prices are what they are but they decided that my 8year old (normal size kid) didn't qualify for their kids prices. So they charged him as an adult and charged the card with no regrets. The part that surprised me was as I was explaining this to the guy behind the counter (no English) he just charged it and went about his day. The phrase of the day is customer service, and you will not find it here. Go to the Grand China Buffet in Pharr. They are better lit, have better food and better prices. read more

The husband is the chef and wife keeps on eye on the food! They are a good team! Because the food is fresh, hot and if your have a complaint they will resolve it.Lot's of seafood! Mussels, shrimp boiled, stir fry, salmon, fish, crap legs, sushi all kind of rolls. The prices are fair. Our server was busy but was very alert.:-) read more

Food is really hard, some items taste as if they were just de thawed. Service is awful, as the oriental associates do not speak or understand English, or Spanish. Impossible to communicate with the, express suggestions, or raise any complaint. Oriental staff will not allow patrons to practice any type of COVID protective measures. We had stayed away for three years due to food quality changes. We were unable to bring it to their attention back then, and are still unable to do so now. We will once again stop using this establishment. Just giving everyone a heads up; price is moderate, unfortunately everything else is subpar. read more

My family and I were out during the weekend when we decide to go eat we had never tried this place but we were game. We arrived about 20 minutes till closing and as we tried to walk in, an Asian woman blocked the doorway and rudely told us they were closed, waved us off and locked the door. If you're anything like I am, the service is just as important as the food. I will never return to this location. And anyone who asks, will hear this story. read more

Roach was found on my friend's plate, waitress was very nice apologizing and suggested we talk to the owner on our way out... Owner told us we still had to pay or she would call the police. Food is horrible if your used to a dirty place and rude service. Then this is the place for you.

This is a great Chinese restaurant! Good value for your money. Try the green beans, they are to die for.

My boyfriend and I love coming here. There is not a huge variety, but what they do have is very good. Now don't expect it to be out of this world because duh it is still a buffet this food is made in masses and yes sometimes it has been sitting there untouched, but for the most part, it is all awesome. I love the sesame balls!! They are so delicious. The service is also really good. The servers are usually very good about refilling on time. read more

Waitress was nice. Managers/ owners are super mean,we found a cockroach on the plate. They apologized and after telling us sorry the manager told us what are you gonna do pay or we call the police. After we didn't make a big deal and told them discreetly they treated us super bad. read more

I normally don't do bad reviews, but I was truly disappointed in the way this restaurants treats customers. Haven't been here in many years so I decided to go for lunch. A little late but got there at 2:45. The food was good, but stayed a bit after 4 as we were talking away. Lunch is 7.99 and I had called before to confirm this. Because we left after 4, we were charged the dinner price. I was confused and called from my car to see if there was a mistake. I was hung up on by two different persons with an Asian accent a Lady and then a Man after being cut off from what I was trying to explain, but vaguely understood that if you stay after 4, you will be charged dinner price. Well okay, but I didn't appreciate the rude treatment and hanging up on me three time. So Beware. Not going back there. I'll spend my money elsewhere where the owners appreciate your business and treat you kindly and with respect. read more
