The staff were very pleasant and helpful. If you noticed something missing in the buffet they would go and make more for you which was nice. Table for two as my daughter and I were returning to South Florida. Almost $40 for a late Sunday afternoon meal. The unlimited buffet and two glasses of water. China Buffet is a bare bones Chinese restaurant in a strip center off of Interstate 95 in Waltersboro, South Carolina. The food itself is barely edible, terrible in taste, and seemingly overcooked. Table service was slow. The server had a simple job - keep the water glass full and the table clear of plates. She failed at this simple task as the water glass was never filled. I quit eating after a second plate and switched to the prepackaged ice cream. I ate two, "trying hard" to get my monies worth. Steer clear of China Buffet. I've been dreaming of a Chinese Buffet for months, in Ohio the Government effectively ran them all out of business!! This buffet is actually open and allows customers to pick out their own food! They made changes you must wear a mask and gloves while selecting your food, and the ice cream is now in individual cups or individual freeze pops. I think this place deserves a better rating than it has. As a Chinese person, I think the food was well done. The fried rice was good, not artificially brown like I'm used to. The vegetables were lightly stir fried, not swimming in in oil. The hot and sour soup had lots of tofu and mushrooms. The only thing I didn't like were the dessert items, which were so so. The waitress picked up my plates periodically. The bathroom was clean, which was nice since we were in the middle of a road trip. All in all, an above average Chinese buffet. read more

This place is horrible. The food is old cheap and tastes disgusting. It appears to be popular with obese African Americans who seem to just down the fried chicken wings, lo mein, and fake ice cream. Anyone else who eats here must not have taste buds or be so concerned with shoveling large amounts of food into their stomach that they just don't care. When i was seated, I had to ask for a menu. I know it is a buffet place but you should give a menu in case you customers don't want to use your buffet. My table and my seat was a little out of shape and the bathrooms aren't the most up to par. The food was good though. Yes, he is right about the waitresses being annoying and the kids ages. I have a 9 girl and a 10 year old girl, when they told their ages the waitress called my 9 year old a liar because she is a little taller than my 10 year old. The problem is I didn't hear about that until on the way home. I did think the waitress wag really rude quite a few times, like when I handed her a five for a tip and she said ( I need tip) I gave her another five and I will never ever eat at that place again. We are full time RVers and stopped here for dinner while passing through.By far the worst buffet I have ever eaten in my travels. The selection on the buffet was limited to mostly chicken dishes, if there was any beef I didn't see it. What was there was semi warm and everything tasted the same.Our drinks were served while we were at the buffet and the server never came back until she brought the check, but you can bet she was waiting by the cashier with her hand out when we paid. Go to Youtube and type in Walterboro China Buffet and there is a family on there that got treated badly. And to be honest, we got treated close to the same way. My mom came in and asked if we could sit at another table (we prefer booths). After that, the two ladies started chewing us out in a different language to each other and slammed the silverware down. My mom then said "we're not putting up with this" and the lady started begging us to stay and my mom told her the only reason she was begging was cause she knew she wouldn't be getting that money, which is true. Plus, they always begged for tips (which isn't a requirement but rather an act of grace). The food is good, but if you're looking for a family friendly place, go somewhere else. We stopped in here to eat something and got terribly sick from food poisoning. Apparently the chicken was undercooked and had some other items in there unfit for human consumption. Poor sanitation didn't really help either. Unfortunately I had to go to the ER nearby to get something to soothe my stomach. Do yourself a favor and just go to the Walmart across the street for something to eat so that you don't have to deal with getting sick from undercooked food.
