Ordered a door dash ' Ordered Gen Tso Chicken, it was very burnt and tasteless. Ordered various vegetables, which was drowned in what I think was water and not very tasty, When it was delivered the paper bag was sloppy inside and out, Some o the fried rice was coated in grease when I went to eat it the rice was cold. The service was excellent! The waiters and waitresses were very kind to our family. Because we have 7 kids, they opened the back room for us, which allowed us some extra privacy. The lunch buffet was available until 3 PM and the dinner buffet started at 3:30 PM. Both were very affordable. The restaurant buffet, the seating area, the bathrooms, and everything was very clean. We really enjoyed our meal on New Year's Day and would happily eat there again! read more

My husband and I eat here as often as we can. The food is excellent, always great, consistent, hot and tasty. My husband says they have THE best hot and sour soup he's ever tasted and always has 2 bowls. The cold shrimp is fantastic, fresh and crunchy. Not only do they have a dessert bar, which I typically miss since I'm too full, they also have a mini freezer with various ice cream bars. The staff is fabulous, friendly and courteous. It's a Chinese buffet so you think you know what you're going to get, right? You've been conditioned by prior experiences to think there will be tons of bland, unappealing, starchy, tasteless, mediocre food. Sure, but you can eat yourself into a coma if you want, right? Yeah, that's pretty much been my experience too - except the coma part. I have more self-restraint!! But surprisingly, this place is different! Who knew you could get really good food at one of these places??? I didn't. And I'm here to tell you it makes all the difference in the world! I've only ever been here for lunch ($6.50 is a bargain!) but I can say that starting with the soups, its all good and very tasty - I always grab a bowl of the hot and sour soup which is as good as you'd get in any sit down Chinese place. The buffet selection is superb and most everything I've tried from it has been above average - some WAY above average in fact. I'd be satisfied with most of these entrees if I had ordered them from a menu. In addition, they have a great selection of assorted fruits and salad items in a separate buffet station. By the time I've worked my way through, I'm so stuffed I don't even approach the fabulous dessert station which is filled with spectacular pastries, puddings, cookies, etc. Some of my fellow dining partners don't quite have the same control I do so I see them loading up their plates and mow through their dessert choices smacking their lips. It's a gem of a restaurant hidden in the plaza across the street from Wal-Mart in Mount Pleasant, and had I not known someone who once worked there, I would never have been party to its wonders. The food on this buffet is better than the food in most Chinese restaurants' entrées. I have never encountered a Chinese buffet with this standard of excellence, and while you'll pay more than you'll pay at not-too-far-away China Star, the step up in quality is worth it. I haven't been there is a good minute, but the staff at China Buffet as I remember it was also very friendly, though this could be because I was always accompanied by someone who knew them personally when I went there. If you want a Chinese Buffet that's a step above, and you're out that way, China Buffet is definitely worth your time. read more

I am sure there is some fault to be had with this place, though in the 12 years I have been going to China Buffet, I have never found it. This place far exceeds any buffet, Chinese or otherwise, that I have ever been to. The food on the buffet is painstakingly tended to by the staff. It is never mushy. They are constantly removing, refilling, and stirring items. You don't get the sense that food has been sitting for any length of time. Our favorites include: garlic chicken (spicy sauce with red pepper flake, soy sauce, and garlic coating thin slices of chicken, pepper and steamed broccoli) , walnut shrimp/chicken (the sauce is seriously one of the best things I have ever eaten anywhere- sweet, tangy, with a very mild heat - never tasted anything like it elsewhere), crab rangoon (husband's favorite - I have never eaten them, but they are very popular with my friends too), veggie egg rolls (not greasy, cabbage that is cooked but still a bit crispy), and the lo mein (never mushy with an excellent noodle to veggie ratio). They are the only Chinese Buffet I have ever been to that has pepper steak that is NEVER chewy or difficult to eat. There are a ton of other options, these are just the things that have kept me coming here for so many years. I have eaten at many, many, many Chinese buffets. This is by far the best -- the dishes on the buffet are of equal quality to entrees served at sit down establishments (if you're familiar with Pittsburgh, it exceeded Tsang's , which was, in my opinion, one of the city's best traditional Chinese joints before it went down hill and closed). If you don't know Tsang's, it is far better than anything I have eaten at a PF Chang's hands down. The service is wonderful. They take your plate away promptly and make a real effort to get to know their customers. They will remember you after you come in couples times. read more

Stopped in for a bite to eat with my family. The staff was really nice but the food was not great or good for that matter. The rice was not in a steamer and was therefore crunchy. The general Tso chicken seemed like it had bbq sauce on it. It was brown rather than the reddish hue you expect. Unfortunately this is one of the only Chinese buffets in town around Mt. Pleasant/Scottdale area. Everytime going to this restaurant the white rice is always hard like it has been in there for a long time and a lot of things are not filled, or get refilled in a timely manner to where you can enjoy them with your dinner. The cheese wontons are normally barely filled and you get 99% wonton, 1% cheese mixture. I would not recommend this place if you can go to a different buffet. The husband and I enjoy China Buffet and have ever since we started dating, over 5 years ago. The food is great---the lo mein noodles are better than every other Chinese restaurant in the area. We enjoy the mussels in black bean sauce, but were disappointed that they weren't on the menu during our last visit. Also, I could eat the hell out of their coffee cake. And I do. My only concern with China Buffet: During our last visit, aside from missing out on black bean sauce, the waiter who seated us was prompt and curteous until my husband stepped outside after paying the bill. He approached me and started babbling something I didn't understand (which is not normal for this restaurant) and finally I excused myself and left. We decided to go here for lunch because I like to try different entrees. This place is okay. Nothing special. It's cheap at $6.75 a person, if you get there before 3:30. Our waiter was rude; we wanted tea but he was gone before we had a chance to ask. There was an orange cake that was quite good and when fresh, the chicken teryaki is quite good. I also liked the walnut chicken. The food is fresh and hot, even at the end of lunch, so a plus for that. Probably wouldn't go here again, but I might if I lived in the area.
