I've eaten here a few times now and with this place being one of the few places in DL to get Chinese food I wish I could say that the food was good but honestly I'd rather drive to Fargo and eat at Panda Express. Now don't get me wrong, some of the food isn't too bad but the quality could be so much better. Me and some guys were looking for something to eat. we saw that the China Buffet closed in about a half hour. When we go there they were already cleaning up. Even though they were about to close they welcomed us with open arms and asked us multiple times if there was anything else they could do for us. Food is ... just ok. Food is often lukewarm and I feel like I need to drink a gallon of water after I am finished. Things like the green beans and the chicken dishes are ok, but if my friend didn't love the place I'd skip it. The hot and sour soup is like glue. Don't bother with things like pot stickers or egg rolls. Cold and gummy or crispy and hard. My parents, son and I visited July 5 for dinner. I liked the peanut butter chicken as I've never had before. It was real rich and a person can't eat much of it. The green beans were real good and salt and pepper shrimp and coconut shrimp which is called honey walnut shrimp at other places. The Jalopeno chicken, general Taos chicken and lemon were uninspiring and mainly batter pieces. The worst part was the snow crab legs. I even got them when they first came out. They were dry and over cooked and no sweet flavor. They tasted old. I love crab legs but these were the worst ever! The ice cream was not soft serve but a bunch of ice cream pails in this help yourself freezer. There was at least 2" of undefrosted ice on the sides. Plus the scoops were shared among other flavors and was a cluster mess. In general the food was good and food was replenished quickly but those snow crab legs were disappointing. read more

Nasty! The walls have stains on them. The wood floors are filled with white mysterious stains. The chicken wings are old. The egg drop soup is so thick that it should be called egg yolks soup. The crap salad has too much mayonaise, well I think that is mayonnaise. The crab cakes are made with something that looks like rice but it's too crunchy to be rice and it is on something that looks like French bread. When we arrived at noon, it's full. The boss is very nice. He is from Fujian Province of China and this restaurant has been opened for 20 years. Some guests come twice a day. If you are familiar with the chain Panda Express it was nearly the same quality only all you could eat and a drink was included in the price. Music was exceptional. There are quite a bit of choices at this buffet, including 10 different choices of ice cream. The food was still fresh, aside from the steamed rice, but they were out of coffee. I could expect nothing less at 9pm. I did not feel rushed during my meal and would definately come back. I highly recommend this buffet for the dinner price and staff attentiveness. I get lunch from here a couple of times a month and am rarely disappointed, but I try to go during the busiest part of the lunch rush when I know the food will be fresh and hot. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Lots of dishes to choose from. Great ice cream selection, but I usually pass on it because it looks like it hasn't been kept frozen consistently. Cleanliness is at an all time low here (not enough to make me not wanna indulge in the food though lol) including lots of clutter and wait staff doesn't wear a uniform or show any signs of professionalism. But none the less they're nice enough and the price is good for what you get forsure why they're getting four stars from my boyfriend and I. The food now, not a ton of flavor and not piping hot but it is buffet style so it's kind of to be expected. They're usually stocked well and it's quick and easy. Love the Chinese donuts and won tons and they have plenty of different dishes with chicken and beef forsure but literally only one noodle option. Will eat here again and again but would like to give the other Chinese restaurants in town a chance as I've seen their reviews are hit or miss. Wish DL would get a grip and make some changes to the Asian cuisine we have to offer here because I'd hate to see another business die. read more

We used to eat here all the time, but it was always dirty. The food was good, but the cleanliness was a solid "Meh." However, we recently heard it was under new ownership, so a few of us decided to try it out. Upon first glance, it was much cleaner than before, so we paid and hit the buffet. It was terrible. The food was cold, as in food poisoning temperatures. NOTHING was fresh. Even the cream cheese wontons were old. It seemed as if everything had been sitting out for at least a week, and tasted closer to a month old. The mashed potatoes were brown around the edges and looked like dry cornmeal. We tried a bunch of items and left too disgusted to feel hungry. I would never come back here. Ever. read more

This was definitely a one time thing. The lo mein was so bland and had nothing except onions in it. The guy cleaning the tables took a cup to get a drink from the pop fountain and put the CUP HE USED on the clean cups the customers use!! How gross is that!? When we got there, we paid first and they didn't even give us a chance to say that we heard a deal on the radio and when we did say it the kid running the register was like "no no deal" when I heard it earlier in the day. New to town we chose to try out China Buffet for dinner during the week. There were several other customers and we had read a review that gave the restaurant high marks. We were impressed by how cheap the buffet was for all of us, but that is where our good feelings ended. After sitting down and taking a closer look around, the place was filthy. Crusted food stuck to the floor and ground into the carpet... The tiled area around the buffet looked like it hadn't been swept for days (shriveled broccoli and other unidentifiable food items everywhere). The floors were sticky, the booths had large holes with the stuffing coming out. Don't even get me started on the bathrooms. Food was lukewarm, ice cream was melting (the freezer box wasn't plugged in). I cannot recommend this place & won't be back. read more

I've always had hope for this place, but each time, I'm more disappointed than the last. Let's start with the food, it's all half cooked and cold, also tastes nothing like they are supposed to. A prime example is the steak and broccoli, the steak tastes like chicken. Also, the rice is either mushy, or crunchy. No happy in between. The ice cream bar is disgusting. I personally saw a toddler use her bare hands to scoop out ice cream from the containers. Also, the place is very dirty and the staff doesn't care about what happens at the buffet, or any area of the restaurant. Good food and friendly staff. Things could use some cleaning like the ceiling fans and lights.

This resturaunt looked good at the start, but I see why they make you pay first. The tables and floor were sticky, the women's bathroom had no working soap dispenser, and the desert buffet had recycled ice cream (dumped in from the prior bucket I assume) in a cooler that you scoop yourself. Imagine how many germs have fallen into these open buckets with kids serving themselves. We are not planning another visit. read more
