The only reason I didn't give this less stars is because the plaza location is so relatively new everything still looks nice and clean at this point. I was here the other night and got a fried rice and vegetables with rice. I felt the food was very subpar. The fried rice consisted of yellow rice and frozen vegetables with the meat. Other take-out Chinese places I've been to had real fried rice with sprouts, Green onions, regular onions, etc. in it. The back story to how I found this place is simple. My favorite place in town/Tampa has closed down and I promised to go to a Yelper's house with Chinese food. I was headed to Riverview and found this place on US 301 near a new Publix. If it's near a Publix, I feel it's safe. The service was very fast especially since I rolled up there last minute. I ordered orange chicken (not spicy), kung pao chicken, chicken lo mein, and crab rangoon. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. This place is for fast service and take out. Although there are a few tables, it's not a place for groups. OK, on to the food. The crab rangoon was quite tasty. It was crispy with a delicious slight sweet flavor. I have to say that was pretty solid and I was hoping the rest would hold up but sadly it didn't. The other fare was just OK. The way the chicken was cut small and indistinguishable as found in many Chinese restaurants. It tasted how I would expect it but sadly nothing was outstanding about it. Riverview, I wish you good luck with this place. It's solid but don't go in with high expectations. read more

Hands down! The best Chinese 'fast food' place everrrrr!! I'm so happy I found them and decided to give them a chance.They make the food right on the spot so it is fresh all the time. Usually Chinese food from other places or like food courts mess up with my stomach and I end up feeling bloated and disgusted, but this is the second time I eat at China 1 and that doesn't happen, the fried rice it's like it's not fried! No grease (at least not that you could see). I'm so happy with their food, prices are very reasonable and they do serve lots and lots of food, AND they are super fast! Came here for the first time a couple days ago. Upon walking in, there was a young man on the phone with a customer who was obviously impatient and frustrated with the customer trying to order. That should've been the first red flag. I went to a really sweet, patient young lady who took my order. She was amazing. No issue there. However, as I waited for my food, another woman walked in and started joking with the young man about how he's always yelling at people. And that should have been another red flag. When my food was done, I went up to get it from him. I checked my food, and noticed that there was yellow rice instead of white. At previous restaurants, plain rice usually meant white so that's what I thought when I ordered. I explained to him that I wanted white and he instantly got aggravated and went back and forth with me before then talking about me in his language to the other workers in the kitchen. He came back later with my order, and I checked it before leaving. The food was great. I could give the food 5 stars, but after the incredibly rude treatment by that gentleman, I will not be giving them my money or time of day any longer. read more

This small Chinese restaurant is pretty traditional and offers the same food you will find at all restaurants like this. That being said, not all Chinese food tastes the same and I have been consistently pleased with how the food tastes here. I usually order the sweet and sour chicken and the vegetable lo mein. It is always made to order and tastes very fresh, even for take out which is the only way I've eaten here, even though they do they have a few tables in the small space. The service is fast and always friendly. I ordered take out recently and the order was the wrong size, but the cashier caught it immediately even before I looked in the bag and had it fixed in minutes. Consistently is important and they have never deviated in taste or service. Price point is spot on for this type of take out. You could easily feed 3-4 people for under $15. read more

I ordered from China 1 today and it was wonderful, they were very nice and when I was determining what to order. They got my order done in less than 10 minutes and it was wonderful. Their Mixed vegetables were amazing, full of a great assortment of vegetables, not completely full of bok choy as some restaurants pass off as mixed vegetables. There was broccoli, waterchestnuts, carrots, and the bok choy in a very nice sauce. Their rice was cooked perfectly, as you hop from most Chinese restaurants but do not always get. I had plenty of leftovers to make a couple of lunches. I will happily return here to purchase again. Highly recommend this at least for the veggies and rice. read more

They need to advised their cooks when you are sitting up front while it is slow using your cell phone and have one of your flip flops in your hand, go wash your hands before you go cook my order. There are a few times in my life while eating in this area where I reminisce about food from back home in New York/New Jersey. This place always reminds me of home. The ownership moved here from ChinaTown, NYC and are fast and efficient when I order. While, my favorite dish isn't very Chinese at all (Chicken Wings with French Fries), the rest of their menu has been eaten by my entire base of friends and family. The only negative is that they don't deliver. But other than that, awesome food at a good price. read more

I stopped here on my way to class today. They have great lunch specials, $5.35 for an entree, rice and soda or an egg roll. I ordered the honey chicken which was excellent. The portion was quite large as well. The rice on the other hand was terrible! They give you tons of it but after a couple of bites I tossed it. How do you screw up rice? This place has its ups and downs depending on what you order. I'll start by saying I love their honey chicken. The egg rolls are good and the lo mien and dumplings are good too. We didn't like their specialty chicken (general tso was bland and the sesame was garlic-y for some reason). I was most disappointed with their fried rice, it was yellow rice which is so weird. This location is in a great location but the food and service are sub par. I've tried to give this place a few chances but the food never seems quite right. It's either over/undercooked, has little to no taste and sometimes the staff treats you like you're bothering them when you walk in. My husband and I are new to the area & for the last 7 months we've been trying to give this place a chance. The food is decent. However, it's the service thats horrible. First and foremost the young guy at the counter who answers the phone & takes orders, sounds depressed and like he hates his life. The many times I've been in there as a regular customer to pick up food, both himself and the young lady he switches with arent very friendly at all. There's been a few times when they gave me the wrong order, made me wait for another 15 minutes, after I had called in my order 20 minutes a head, or even were rude enough to question a customer..... "why don't you want a lot of wontons in your soup.. you don't like it ? you don't need to call ahead to order soup." After noticing the dirty looks from the cook in the back, I had to literally explain to this kid that I could only have the broth due to surgery. I shouldn't have to explain how I want my soup....I'm a paying customer!!! Not to mention that I do need to call ahead for something as simple as soup because everytime i order anything they don't start filling my order until I get there. For a place that doesn't offer delivery service, you would think they provide better customer service, not mix up the orders, have the orders ready in time, and cook their frozen peas and carrots all the way. Needless to say we're looking for a different Chinese restaurant in Riverview, any recommendations? If not we'll have to stick to the Yummy bistro on Hillsborough Ave. read more

Expensive Chinese food. I ordered two lunch specials and it came out to 15. Mind you they don't deliver either. I use this Chinese restaurant because they had a $5 lunch special just to find out when I got there that they jacked up the price on dec 1st. Very disappointing, I told the lady this is my first time doing business with them and choosing there restaurant instead of the other 10k Chinese restaurants in this area and she didn't comp me for the price that's on their menu.
