Alber's Fireplaces - This SimpliFire Inception fireplace adds the charm and ambiance of a real fireplace without the mess and cost of a gas installation.

Got custom fireplace doors for an original brick fireplace (I.e. non prefab, random size opening)…read more The results were great, measurements were right on, the finish was good and the welds looked professional. Packed well too. Sure, a big box store door would have been cheaper but then we wouldn't have been able to pick the size, finish material, handles etc. Plus this frame is THICK - all welded barstock, not a bit of sheet steel to be seen!

If you are going to install anything yourself or have someone other than their installer do this…read moreAVOID these people. We bought a ventless gas log set from them. I wanted to support a local business and had naïvely felt that they would stand behind what they sold so I did not mind paying the extra money. I would have been way better off buying it on Amazon or another site online! I already had the gas line so I just needed to replace the old log set. First of all, when my wife picked it up you must sign a waiver that says you have a total of 24 hours to inspect everything. Then they have a clause in the waiver that states it may need "FINE" tuning. They also claim they do not do the installation and support they have contractors that do it, but their website clearly states they do installs and service. I installed the unit and it would run for a minute and turn off. I went to the manufactures website and found out you cannot contact them or get support; you must contact the dealer you bought it from. I called to find out how to get it fixed under warranty. Now even though the website is covered with service and support options I was told they don't do the service or support I needed to call their contractor and schedule a service call. When you call the contractor it sends you back to Albers to schedule the service call ?????? Oh, and that is $300. The tech came out and found out the thermocouple was not near the pilot light, and he needed to take it all apart then move the pilot light and the thermocouple, so they got next to each other and aligned. I have a checkout sheet with the unit that states who built it and tested it, it all says it was all tested and passed. So, I called back again to see how I could get credit for the fixing the manufactures defect. I was now told that since they did not have to replace any parts it was not a manufactures defect in workmanship it was a "FINE TUNING" and therefore it was not covered, and I had to pay the $300 myself. So, I should not expect to pay over $2000 for a gas log set and then expect it to work out of the box. Imagine if you bought a fancy gas stove and one of the burns did not light so you called Maytag and they fixed it and handed you a bill for $300 tow day safter you bought it. Albers sees no problem with this. If I had just bought it from Amazon or another online vendor I could have packed it up and got another one that was manufactured correctly. Instead, it cost me extra to by it and then $300 extra to get it to work.

I rarely leave negative reviews , but this has been frustrating and just completely disappointing…read more Be aware! I was asked to do a 75% deposit back in Nov 2025 to be able to rush the fireplace for a Christmas install. After i made the deposit communication nearly disappeared. I had to physically show up to their showroom to get answers. Christmas install never happened. They promised January install, again, did not happen. They offered a discount for the one last chance on doing the "right thing" we gave them the benefit of the doubt and agreed to a February install... then again, no show no call! After that, i was promised a full refund within a week. No refund within the week occurred, after sending a certified letter, they returned half of the deposit... We're in April and a significant balance is still outstanding! Despite multiple follow-ups and patience on my end, this has not been resolved. I've now had to move forward with formal action to recover the remaining funds. I'm sharing this so others are aware and in hopes the company will resolve the matter promptly.

Beware of this company!! Back in September, my husband and I purchased a gas fireplace/install in…read morewhich Marta told us it takes 4-6 weeks for the fireplace to come in. We put a $4,300 deposit down on our CC. After 5-6 weeks, we were wondering the status of our fireplace and after calling, Marta stated that the fireplace was in. We wondered why she didn't call us to inform us? She gave us an install date of 11/18. When they didn't call the day before to confirm, we called them and they said they told us it was for the 11/25. That was not true but we weren't going to argue. The 25th rolls around and once again we did not hear from them and called them to confirm the day before. After numerous phone calls and leaving messages, we finally got in touch with Marta who informed us that they couldn't do it again they were backed up. She then gave us another date for Dec 5 and said it would definitely be done then. Once again, we did not hear from them the day before and we called them to confirm. They did not answer the phone. We called several times and then decided to call from a different number and surprisingly Marta picked up the phone! She made an excuse about phone troubles at the office. She then cancelled the install AGAIN! She said they were having a problem with their main installer and didn't know when they would be able to install our fireplace. She gave us the option to receive a refund which we were going to choose but then said she would definitely know the next day when and if they could install our fireplace. We said ok and agreed to wait until the next day to find out. She promised she would call the next day but never did! So there we were 3 months later, with a hole in our wall ( we did the demo) and $4,300 in the hole. Days passed and weeks passed, no call. Whenever we called, they never answered. We left messages with no call back. We were never able to get in touch with them. They ghosted us! We ended up disputing the $4,300 deposit with our CC and got our deposit back weeks later. Unfortunately, we still have a hole in our wall and no fireplace, no phone call, and zero contact with the company. I can't believe that this company is still in business with such poor customer service. If they couldn't do the job, why couldn't they just be honest? We wasted 4 months waiting for nothing and now have to find someone else to do the job. Save yourself aggravation and go elsewhere. Embers was actually recommended to us by two friends so I'm surprised they would conduct themselves in such an unprofessional and unethical manner.

Up on the Roof Chimney Sweep - Chase cover replacement

After having roof work done by a roof contractor I discovered a leak in my ceiling by the chimney…read morechase where it penetrates up and out the roof. Calling back the original roof contractor and informing them of the leak they said I needed to replace the siding of the house in the area of the chimney chase at the tune of $4000!! I then began calling other various contractors for this repair and was told all kinds of BS, from having to rebuild the chimney chase, having to wait as they were too busy, too cold (it was December) and told to wait until spring, etc. It was a bad leak and causing damage to my home not to mention the stress caused on me being at the mercy of contractors. So... I kept on searching contractors and came across Up On The Roof Chimney Sweep during I'm sure their busiest time of the year like everyone else's. However Up On The Roof Chimney Sweep promptly returned my call, took my information, promptly came to measure the chimney chase and came back with a reasonable price and did not take advantage of my situation! I scheduled the job with Up On The Roof Chimney Sweep and could not be happier with the quick prompt service and results that were received! It has been a full 2 months with some heavy gusty rains and no leak so this job was given the test of time! There is barely any worse feeling than being at the mercy of contractors when you have a situation that needs to be correctly fixed in a timely matter and not at a contractor's convenience. Up On The Roof Chimney Sweep not only fixed my chimney leak but relieved the awful stress on me from the start with their integrity, price, answering all my questions, and all the way to the finish product which looks great too! I highly recommend Up On The Roof Chimney Sweep and will definitely use again!!
