The worst chimney contractor I've ever dealt with. Here are the details of my experience & I'm currently looking into legal options. Keep in mind they are one of the handful of chimney specialists in the city & to narrow it down even more... that serve my area. - Initially called this company on September 21, 2020 around 6pm. Scheduled something for the following week. No call, no show. Nobody would take my follow up calls or return my voicemail. - I called again on October 1st, 2020 at 3:42pm. An inspection of my chimney was scheduled for 11am on October 5th, 2020. No call, no show. - I called once again on November 11th, 2020 at 1:23pm. Scheduled a chimney inspection for December 1st at 11am. They actually managed to show up... several hours late, but at least they showed up. They cleaned & did the inspection, deemed it an extremely hazardous situation then said a quote would be sent for the repairs. - The quote never came & for the past 4+ months I've been calling as well as emailing trying to get it sent over. Everytime they either ignore my message or use some sort of excuse about not being in the office, that it would be sent when they (the office manager) comes back on whatever day of the week, but then...nothing. At this point I'm considering it negligence since if you are having technical issues, you could have easily just printed it out & mailed it or dropped it off. My email is fine. They sent the inital receipt for the inspection which I received & someone actually replied to one of my follow up emails so technical things are good on my end. Today I called because the chimney finally collapsed because of high winds or something hitting it, leaving my roof & yard a mess! The office manager had the nerve to say "we don't do masonry until spring anyway" today when I called her when I've been trying to get this done since Summer 2020! Update 03/19/2021: Let's address this company's lies. 1. I work in IT. Chimney USA uses a basic Gmail account. Nobody has control over Google servers, but...Google. Also, a unique email from a chimney contractor, especially with a gmail account has an extremely low chance (almost zero) of getting filtered to spam/junk. They also never mentioned any server issues in any previous conversations. 2. Chimney USA never mentioned any reason as to why they were late. I called several times after the time window to see if they were even coming. The office manager eventually called me back literally when the crew arrived maybe an hour after my last call to let me know they were on their way at which point I let her know they were there. She said 'oh ok' then hung up. read more

Our building in the area of Damen and Division, a two-flat, 4 apartments, has the gabled roof shape, which is two sides with steep angels. Other contractors, either did not want to rebuild the chimneys or wanted to build a side structure just to get to the chimneys. Gabled roofs are the most difficult to get to the chimney. Chimney USA did very practical and workable approach to get to the chimneys. They gave us a great quote, did the job promptly, and the chimneys look fantastic. They took tons of pictures so we saw exactly what they did. I hope that they do other stuff around a building as I would choose them every time. Oh, their quote for the job, including the inner tubes to protect both chimneys was the lowest of all contractors we called. This company is a hot mess. We've been waiting over two months for our scheduled appointment. I called one month ago to confirm the date. I called last week to confirm the date. I called TODAY, the day of the appointment, and was told that rather than a "window" they would call me 30 minutes before the chimney sweep arrived. Then NOTHING, crickets. No call no nothing. We were here all day. We've been here all day every day for months. No one even rang the doorbell. Terrible communication and terrible customer service. When I asked what time they'd be here, as it's only 6:30pm, and they're open until 11, all I got was "Well....." Not professional. There are many other companies to work with. Cut to 8:00am the following day, a message on my voicemail. Something about a co2 leak, or whatever, and I should call to get someone out this morning. No apology. Nuthin. I called Chimney Monkeys, who got right back to me with a quote and an open appointment. Four more weeks of waiting. I'm so pissed with Chimney USA. We just moved here to a house with a wood burning fireplace. It needs repair to the damper and outside brickwork. They had an opportunity for a good customer, and blew it. read more

I was very lucky to find this company as they were out on my block giving another family an estimate. I really needed this service as my heating professional advised me to get my chimney cleaned as my boiler was shutting off and this means blockage in the flu. The professionals of this business came to my home immediately and looked to see what the problem was. They gave me the exact same advice that my heating serviceman had stated and was able to discuss more technical advice with me about my chimney and how it works and the importance of cleaning. My home was built in 1898 and this company knew how to work with an older home. They were very informative regarding how to care and protect my chimney and boiler. Mirna and Rafael were wonderful as the contact people that came out to the home. Rafael is very pleasant and walks you through everything that needs to be done regarding the chimney cleaning. Rafael went on on the roof and examined my existing chimney and diagnosed what needs to be done to have my chimney safe, work better and last longer. I was very satisfied with the job and the customer service. They will be back to squirrel proof my home as Rafael could see the places that squirrels may have been digging. I waited on a response from Merna who runs the company on the price of a Liner and she has never responded back to me which is sad there prices are very expensive. My chimney was cleaned back in September 2021. The first review that I gave the company was a 4 star as you can see I lowered it. I have a very small yard that is close to my neighbors - they took the initiative to ensure her area was protected as well (beyond our expectations). The job was done with the utmost attention to detail and explanation as they worked. I could not have had a better experience. Ok, a little backstory before my review. My furnace went out right after Christmas 2019. The repairman told me that I had to have my chimney inspected and cleaned. This was one of the companies that I called (on a Sunday), and I will admit, I was very pleased with their responsiveness and professionalism. They did come on time and ready to work as scheduled. My chimney was cleaned and relined and did tell me the importance of maintaining the chimney. They also did inform me that my chimney was in danger of collapsing and suggested repairs/rebuilding. I asked for a quote and was told one would be sent, but if I hired them to take care of the rebuilding, they wouldn't do it until Spring. I was fine with that, but still wanted a quote before I agreed. Mind you, this was in 2019, as of today, I'm still waiting for a quote from them. I've called, texted, etc. numerous times, and still no quote. In the end, I decided to go with another company. The way I look at it, I'm not going to beg a company to keep my business. Although the work for the cleaning was good, I don't know if I'd recommend them for anything else. To just totally ghost a customer is not the way to do business. read more

We notified this company over a month ago that we needed a chimney cap replaced, under contractual obligation for house closing. After examining the chimney, recommended we clean first. Team came 2 hours late and had no chimney caps, our closing is now a week away. We explained our situation and requested that we get some guarantee of completion of requested service , would pay for service after caps put on. I don't write reviews but had to write one in this company. Our boiler recently stopped working so we had a heating company come out who said we need to have our chimney checked for blockage before he fixes our heat. I called Chimney USA AND Mirna explained to me that they were booked until Sunday but "I hear a baby crying in the background so you might want to call some other companies to see if they can see you sooner." I kept my Sunday appointment just in case, and she ended up calling me back a few hours later saying they are able to send someone out today. She was concerned about my newborn and our house having no heat. The guys came out, all three so nice. Saw a huge blockage in my chimney, called me down to show me the problem, fixed it quickly and efficiently, cleaning up the mess. THEN they offered to try to turn my heat back on, and it works!! I will still call an HVAC guy to make sure everything is working properly but I was just so impressed with how honest (telling me to call other companies), caring (hearing the newborn in the background, turning my heat on) and efficient this company was. And all for a lower price than I expected! They really turned my stressful day into a happily productive one. read more

It was difficult to find a reputable Chimney Repair company on the South side, I was so happy I found them. Mirna was knowledgeable and polite. I was also prepared with my list of questions and conducted my own research on chimney repair. The only reason why we did not use Chimney USA was because we have a contractor in our family. I own a 3-flat in Wicker Park/Ukrainian Village. My 3rd floor tenants reached out to me saying that their furnace shutting off at 60 degrees even though they had it set at 70. After having my normal furnace repair guy look at it, he said it was fine, but the furnace flue/chimney was clogged with debry, so I had to call someone that works on flues and chimneys. After doing some research and talking to a few places, no one could come out on short notice, which was a big prolbem, because my tenants barely had heat when it was below freezing out. Merna at Chimney USA said they could have someone out within an hour which really was a life savor. I liked that every time I called, Merna would answer (instead of having to leave a message). Ralph arrived and figured out that a squirrel and her babies were living in our flue vent! After getting them out and sweeping the flue, the furnace was back up and running again.
