I was looking to replace a nonfunctional set of " faux" gas logs. They were extremely helpful in determining what type of RealFyre logs would be required and helped me decide on a set. The crew came in; removed the old set, prepared the firebox including painting the brick for a real nice look, installed the logs and tested the installation. Great Job!!!!' read more

DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Here's a list of things showing how terrible they are: 1. Spilled soot all over my house, including staining a $300 rug, then had to use our personal vacuum because they didn't have one! 2. Completely smashed an expensive landscape light and two shrubs where they apparently placed the ladder then stepped all over the landscaping. 3. Smeared soot all over the newly-painted white exterior of our house. 4. Asked for the check to be written to one of them personally rather than the company. 5. Smeared sooty handprints all over our foyer and front door. 6. Worst of all...apparently broke their tool inside our chimney THEN LEFT IT IN THERE. See my photo. We lit our first fire and couldn't figure out why the house was filling with smoke and plastic was dripping into the fire. Ridiculously dangerous. read more

Chimney Mischief - Here's how terrible...Left this piece in my chimney - Masonry/Concrete Near Me - Atlanta, Georgia

I called Chimney Mischief because I used their company when Jim was the owner. Jim worked on 2 of my fireplaces and did a terrific job. However he no longer owns the company, so don't rely on previous reviews. I called about 10 days ago and spoke with Jeannette, who was employed by Jim. She set up an appointment for a week later for Anthony to come to my house. She texted me the day before the appointment to reschedule. That was fine and we rescheduled for the next day for the time period between 4-5PM. At 5:05PM, I called her and she said, "Oh, he didn't come?" She said she would get n touch with him. 15 minutes later she texted to apologize that she was unable to reach Anthony. I texted her this morning and then called 3 times to see if Anthony was coming out today. No reply to text and no answer to the phone call. Save yourself some time. This is not the same company anymore. Find another company-like I did, for your work. These people will just disappoint you and waste your time. Their star rating is only as high now as it is, because of the high ratings when Jim was the owner. read more

We paid $250 for a chimney cleaning when we moved into our new house. They vacuumed out the soot from the bottom of our chimney but our surrounding wall bricks are still black and uncleaned. The serviceman turned our fireplace on and off at the end to show us everything worked and after he left we tried to use the fireplace but are now unable to turn the key. I'm not sure if he turned it back too tight or broke something but naturally we are hesitant to fix this ourselves and risk a gas leak. I contacted the office to have them send someone back out and after some back and forth no one has been back to help us. read more

I should have paid attention to the reviews for this company. I used this company back in the fall. Two guys came out for a cleaning and inspection but I was told that they had to come back out to complete something they were unable to complete at the time of services. I offered to pay but was told to when they came back to finish. 6 months later no contact to complete work except for constant reminders to pay invoice. Invoice paid for uncomplete work. Do your research before using this company. read more

We originally had Chimney Mischief install the custom English coal basket in 2016 just after Christmas. The installation was okay (having no previous knowledge of English coal basket installations), but it looked good enough and seemed to function alright. After a few uses it became apparent the coals were not laid out properly and our flame suffered because of it. One side of the fire was really high while the other was really low. After trying to get it repaired by the original installer for the past few months, I noticed that he was not with the company any longer and saw the bad reviews. I contacted Chimney Mischief recently to see if they'd fix our basket. Jeannette and Anthony spoke to me to see what the issues were and we scheduled a date and time to fix it. Anthony came out for the appointment on time and was very professional in addressing the issues. He even pointed out other cosmetic issues that I hadn't noticed and is addressing them. He walked me through the process and ensured that I was satisfied prior to leaving. Overall, I am super satisfied with how the issues were resolved and will not hesitate to contact these folks for any of my fireplace-related needs in the future. Glad to see professionals who take pride in their work. read more

Recommended by a friend in the area. All we needed was an inspection to see how the Chimney's are before we use them. It is an old house which is getting many repairs done. Inspector never showed after confirming appointment. The only contact number was via messages or voice mail they never answer or return calls. Go elsewhere I called another company and they came right out the next day. Disappointed with no response but I see I am not the only one from seeing their other reviews. read more

They seem to know what they're doing, the problem is getting them to do it. The tech came out, cleaned our chimneys and gave us a detailed list of what still needed to be done. I've reached out to reschedule multiple times through their website and email but never hear back. read more

I had an appointment to have my fireplace looked at after discussing the issue over the phone. Not only did they not show up but I called twice on the morning of my appointment and left a text message and did not receive any call back. read more

I called them after getting two quotes from other masonry companies to tuckpoint my chimney. The other companies charged me $0 to come out and offer their bids. Chimney Mischief wants $125 just to come out and take a look. Sorry, no read more

I bought into the hype and had my chimney cleaned by a larger company with all the internet credentials money can buy. While the cleaning they performed was sufficient, the final report was scary: my chimney was a dangerous fire hazard that needed $4500 of repairs to be brought out of condemnation. Looking for a second opinion, I got in touch with Jim at Chimney Mischief and he came out for an inspection the next day. The inspection he performed was a very thorough and educational experience for me as a new homeowner. He spent about 45 minutes explaining what he saw in the firebox/chimney, why certain items needed to be addressed while others didn't, and what we could do to tackle the open safety issues. After we were finished, I was very confident in Jim's advice to make my fireplace 100% safe for the upcoming fire burning season. What started out as a $4500 complete overhaul ended up just needing some professional honesty, two small tubs of refractory mix, and a few hours of my time. As long as Chimney Mischief provides this kind of service with integrity, I will be a return customer every year. Do yourself a favor, skip the other solutions and madness, and just give Chimney Mischief a call. read more

These guys are a great company. Jim (the owner) was very helpful when making an appointment. Ben is the person who showed up for the appointment and he was very friendly and right on time, my wife spoke very highly of him. He was very honest with her about the condition of our chimney and super helpful. Would recommend them to anyone who likes to support local, honest businesses! read more

Updated 12/5/17: I received a call from Jim, the original owner of Chimney Mischief who spent 37 years building an outstanding reputation before he sold it to someone else, the guy who ripped me off. He refunded our deposit even though he was not the one who took our money. He said he just believes in doing the right thing. He completely earned my respect and trust. I hope others will work with him. Original review: We got totally duped. I don't know what happened with this company since there had been so many good reviews. We scheduled an estimate. Very nice guy comes out, an hour late but whatever. He looks at our fireplace / chimney and gives us a quote. It sounded right to us as we had talked to other companies as well. He takes a deposit check of $312 (made out to the company) and says the scheduler will be in touch. A few days later we get a call saying they misquoted and needed to come back out. And then....silence. If you call, you get voice mail and you can't leave a message because it's full. I finally sent a message on Facebook and got a response apologizing and saying someone would call me within an hour. That was 6 days ago and nothing. Now they appear to have shut down their Facebook messaging. I will be pursuing this via my bank. read more

Great experience with Chimney Mischief. Mike did our inspection and helped us pick out a gas coal basket for installation. Jim was very responsive for scheduling the job. They also cleaned out our chimney and replaced the cap. The installation itself was done very smoothly with excellent craftsmanship. Very impressed with the final results and look forward to enjoying our new fireplace! read more

Great company with great people. I know nothing about my chimney, and the representative that came out took the time to teach me a lot and provide great advice on how to take care of my chimney. He was honest about what I did and didn't need to do, and created a cap in less time than expected. Super easy to deal with - will use them again, and would highly recommend them! read more

I'd give these guys two more stars if I could. Mike and Jessie came to my house for a chimney sweep. They knew my name when I opened the door which is a simple but great start. They looked at everything and answered all of my questions before they got started. Once they got going they were quick, professional, and very neat. They put pads down before they brought equipment in the house and cleaned up after themselves. I highly recommend these guys for your chimney needs. read more

Do NOT under any circumstances use this company. They are completely unreliable and do not show up for appointments. We paid over $5,000 in August for repairs that have never been completed. They have repeatedly promised to install a custom chimney cap along with other outside repairs and have never showed up. We are proceeding with litigation to recover our overpayment, but do not waste your time with these people. I consider them dishonest and unprofessional. read more

Really great experience with this company. Couldn't get anyone else to run a gas line into my existing fire place that's about 100 years old. They came out and did a wonderful job and I'm thrilled! Excellent customer service and communication- they clearly care about their work. Joey went above and beyond for me on the installation. I'll be using them in the future for anything chimney related. read more

I called the company after no one showed up for my appointment. "He's running a few minutes late," they said. "Well, I wouldn't call 45 minutes 'a few minutes late,'" I said. After a long period on hold, they said he was running very late, would I like to reschedule? I said no because I've already taken time off work for this appointment. Then they told me that I HAD to reschedule. He was apparently late because of a gas leak at 2 pm. I asked them why they didn't call me at two, so I wouldn't have had to miss work. "Well, we're supposed to . . . " read more

Review Updated: Chimney Mischief apparently went through some ownership changes but has now returned to the original owner (who I believe is the one who earned the original 50 5-star reviews). So my original experience under the new ownership was not great but The original Chimney Mischief stepped back in and completely turned things around. Jeannette walked me through the process and worked with me to get my Chimney repair scheduled and at a price I could afford. Anthony came out and worked nonstop for hours to get everything squared away and the finished product is perfect and he came in several hundred under what I was originally quoted. They were both extremely helpful, friendly, and a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend using this company for any Chimney repair needs! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Scheduled my first appointment with them and they never showed up. I rescheduled with them for the following week, and they never showed up. They never called for either cancelation. They gave no advanced notice. Just didn't show up. Both of these appointments were for 2 hours, so entire afternoons I had to take off of work to meet them. I'm sure there are plenty of other options for chimney services in Atlanta. Any of them would be a better option than Chimney Mischief. read more

After a missed appointment, which was cancelled by them, I tried reaching them about 5 times. They never called back. Very unprofessional.

Several years ago, we were told by another big-name chimney company that our chimney had a hole in the flue that would require a whole new flue to be installed, and that there was a hole between the smoke chambers on the upstairs fireplace and a downstairs fireplace that made it unsafe to use and would require the entire chimney to be lined. We were given a quote but at that time decided not to do the work. In November 2015, we decided to have the chimney cleaned again, the chimney problems fixed, and to have a cap made to stop the rain from running down the chimney. Mike came out promptly, told us the chimney didn't need cleaning, that there was no hole in the flue, and that the hole could be patched without the need for a chimney liner being installed. He had our (very large) custom cap made, brought it out, installed it (it's beautiful and no rain comes down the chimney any more), and patched the hole in the smoke chambers, all for $800. Less than half of what the other company quoted us several years earlier just to fix the "hole" in the flue and line the chimney (without even including a cap). We were very happy and have recommended this company repeatedly. read more

DON'T FRET! It is back under the good "old" management again!! Our fireplace was unusable for about 10 years due to several cracks in the flue that would pass through to our basement flue and flood the house with smoke! We finally decided to get it repaired and called a couple of well known companies in Atlanta (yes, those!). They told us we had to completely destroy the inside of the fireplace and replace it with a liner. Their quotes were insane. I found Chimney Mischief. Apparently "the big guys" tell that constantly to people. Jeanette walked me through the entire process beautifully and Jim (the original owner) and Anthony came out immediately for a second opinion. Although our flue had several large cracks, they repaired it with a FireGuard application. Anthony also repaired several other cracks in our fireplace, replaced our very old chimney cap, AND our gas starter that had a leak. Yes, it was in that bad of shape! All that work was MUCH less than the other company's quotes! Our family is so ecstatic that we have a working fireplace again! We have been lighting fires almost every other night. We are thrilled with the service they provided!! Jeanette, Jim, and Anthony are our fireplace hero's. THANK YOU!!! read more

I made an appt with Chimney Mischief on 7/26/17. When no one showed up I called and was told that they had no record of my appt. I spoke to a woman named Jeanette. She was apologetic and said that this had occured with other customers and that scheduler was no longer employed there. I rescheduled my appt for 9/28 and called the day before to confirm. Quess what? I was again told that there was no record of my appt and that Jeanette was no longer with the company. The young man even got a little snippy with me an insinuating that maybe I actually never really made an appt. I was furious. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he informed me that he was the supervisor. I hung up and called back later and requested the name and number of the owner. I called several times, left a message and did not receive a call back. If you need any chimney work don't bother wasting your time calling this sorry excuse for a company. read more
