Driveway could have been completed in June but we asked if driveway can be delayed till August/2023, we had a whole bunch of landscaping needed to be finished first. He said ok call him when I'm ready. We were scheduled to plant 16 Maple trees down our driveway when we found out the property stake was incorrect we were on our neighbor's lot (empty at the time) and according to our city ordinances you have to be 10ft away from our neighbor's property line. We now have to move the driveway, can't plant trees can't put irrigations driveway is lay with class5 rocks it had to be dig out. (All conversations posted on Yelp) long story short driveway was moved, driveway went in first week of September, two weeks later got an email balance needed to collect for driveway. (Loan closed driveway included) First email from Tiffany, an invoice for rebasing/digout/weeds. Second email from Justin, billing not for those reasons. Here comes the ugly side of Justin when I said I will not pay. You should never call your customer "dishonest" how are you going to bill me after my loan has closed. Yes we have talked about a bigger driveway which I was never quoted for, no change order was signed off by me like all previous upgrades. 1 year warranty was approaching I emailed over the list and this was the response I got (email Oct/23 MUST READ) they responded quick when I reminded them of state requirements. (Nov/4 email) Took awhile for everything to be scheduled. Jan/2024 I was still waiting for paint, emailed couple time no response. Finally received a email saying all warranty required by the State of Minnesota has been completed. Pay the $1200 and we will come finish the job. (In other words Feb/8/2024 email) I would never recommend TJB to anyone. A builder supposedly been around for so many years would be this petty over $1200 over mistake they made themselves is mind boggling! I would've just finished the job and move on to the next! Last few photos are how they left my home looking after they sanded down ceilings and filled in the wall cracks. The audacity for leaving a 2 million house looking like this. TJB "Luxury home builder" this is what luxury finishes looks like! I only wish I did more research and homework. We love our home and our neighbors, too bad we ended with a shitty builder. Not a reputable company in our neighborhood will continue to warn others!

In March 2017, I hired 2nd Generation to clean and inspect my chimney, as I had been experiencing a…read morebackdraft issue. Tyler and Mathhias came to my house. Immediately upon entering my house, they told me to stop using my fireplace because the refractory panels were cracked. I was quoted $1000 to replace the panels. I had been having a backdraft issue since my townhome association had the chimney caps replaced on all the homes in my association. So we discussed possible solutions. I was told to crack the living room window which I had never, in 9 years, had to do before. I had a fire after they left and cracked a window as suggested. This didn't solve the backdraft issue. Fall 2017 I had another company come to my home to look at my refractory panels, and discuss the backdraft issue. The company owner told me he could patch the refractory panels for $50. First problem solved. After discussing a few things regarding the backdraft issue, and inspecting everything it was concluded that the chimney cap was the issue. It wasn't installed to code, and did not allow room for proper ventilation. I had a new cap installed, second problem solved. I am dismayed as to why 2nd Generation didn't catch that the chimney cap wasn't installed to code and that the tiny holes intended for ventilation were actually causing smoke to come back down my chimney. I'm pretty disgusted that they offered me a $1000 solution to a $50 problem. I'm very disappointed with 2nd Generation and wouldn't recommend them.

You can find all sorts of articles about David's youth as a chimney sweeps son and his top hat moment. I had just bought a house with a chimney, the home inspector had recommended a sweeping, and I had never used a wooden fireplace before so I figured you couldn't go wrong with David. At $269 for an inspection and cleaning, it was more expensive than the other companies, but it was almost Spring time so they were offering $40 off. I filled out a form for an appointment, gave them flexible times, and asked for David. Rather than saying David could or couldn't come out, they said they would do their best to send him out. They gave me a few times and dates, and I told them "whatever works best for David." I said they could reschedule if needed. They signed me up for the next morning and David did not show up, but a crew of 3 (Tyler, Troy, and Mathias) did in a huge truck instead. They said usually just one person comes but they had a bigger job that morning (chimney relining or something like that) and they stopped by afterwards. One of them had 5 yrs experience; he stayed inside with me and explained how to use and maintain the fireplace. Another had 20 yrs experience; he went out and inspected the crown. Another had 1 yr experience; he ran the videoscope. They were all certified sweeps. One had certifications in other things such dryer vent cleaning as well. Tyler showed me a couple of spider cracks at the back of the fireplace and asked me twice if I wanted to replace the back fireplace panels for $1000. I said no, they were pretty small at the moment, and he said he probably wouldn't do it either but it might need replacing in a year or two. The only question he had trouble answering was about the brand and model of pre-manufactured fireplace. Initially he said he didn't know but it looked like the "Home Depot Special" which he said is cheap but generally well made. Upon further prodding, he looked closer and was able to find a badge. He said he didn't know much about the brand (Superior), other than he sees it a lot. A Google search showed it's owned by Lennox and the model is still made today. I was able to find a manual online. Buying the whole firebox new would cost $550 (plus installation). They offered $59 to clean the dryer vent since they were already out. A separate service trip would've costed $170 which is in line with coupons I've seen on Angie's List. I had been meaning to do it anyway since clothes were taking awhile to dry and the previous owners didn't do much maintenance. It turned out to be the best $59 I've spent on this house. They pulled out bucket loads of lint. It took them an hour or two to clean it. The dryer vent had also come apart somewhere around a light fixture. There's a chance it came apart while cleaning it but they fixed it either way. That lint filled dryer vent was a fire waiting to happen. They were knowledgeable, qualified, hard-working, and personable. The price was high for the inspection and sweeping, but low for the dryer vent cleaning. So I'm giving them 5 stars. They might want to brush up on brand knowledge though, that is a big part of repairing prefab chimneys. If David came out I might not be saying that though.

Sealant was applied in July. After five days, it had not dried and thin spots appeared where it was…read morerunning off any higher areas. I put a blower on the driveway in an attempt to get it dried. The blower created waves in the sealant, which obviously had too much water in it. I contacted Seal King Somerset and was told it was because our driveway is shaded. They came back to reapply and this time it dried in a couple of days...more evidence the sealant in the first application was defective. Looked good until Spring, when it started flaking off in large pieces, eventually turning to "mud", and finally a fine black powder that was tracked everywhere, including inside the house. I contacted them again and they said they would do it a third time, but at this point I did not trust they knew what they were doing. I asked for at least a partial refund and was told they do not give refunds...an example of their version of customer service. We had another vendor come out and they said they had never seen anything like it and SK's claims about shade were false. They said the first application was likely defective, which prevented the second application from adhering. Ended up hiring the other company and it dried in 24 hours and looks great. AVOID SEAL KING SOMERSET!

Their prices are competitive and industry standard but i am coming back to Seal King after trying 2 different companies over the last 2 summers because in my opinion, the sealant that they use is definitely much better than the other providers in the area. Service was friendly, they were professional and cleaned up the worksite after themselves.
