I've been ordering food from this particular Chile Verde location for quite some time, as a matter of fact, I use to order from this Chile Verde when it was located on Knox Ave in Torrance years ago. Food is always fresh & hot(temperature-wise) and tasty. Staff is friendly and will accommodate most requests when it comes to substitution of items. Restaurant has about 7 or 8 tables for dining in. Parking can be difficult during its busiest hours(lunch) and there is no handicap parking space; however, there's one HP parking next to another business next to Chili Verde. We use to eat at Chile Verde at least once a week on their Taco Tuesdays when it was $1.49. Now, 2 years later the Taco Tuesdays is now $2.49. However, We did not go for tacos on Tuesday, in fact now the tacos are $3.99 each on a Friday. So,no problem, let's try it again. So 2 years ago the shrimp tacos were amazing! This time, they said with cabbage, pico de gallo and chipotle. I was ready to enjoy it like the last time I had it. IT WAS SUPER SPICY. I have ordered this before with no issues, and sadly disappointed that it arrived like it did. So, I told them if they can make it not super spicy and they said it has chipotle sauce which makes it spicy. Perhaps, in other taco joints, their chipotle sauce is smokey mild. If you like it burning hot and to me it was. Perhaps people enjoy this kind of spicyness but I don't. It took them perhaps 5-10 mins to make me a less spicy version. To my dismay, they removed the cabbage and pico de gallo?! Wow! Why on earth would I just eat 5 medium size shrimps in a soft taco shell taco? I shook my head, sadly to eat just the shrimp. I gave them 3 stars because they did fix the issue. However, make sure to order it without chipotle sauce and keep cabbage and pico de gallo. Being super specific with the order. We drove by this fast food Mexican restaurant nearly everyday. It's on a busy corner near the freeway entrance, which makes it a good take out place for dinner after commutes. Place seems popular for lunch too. More authentic than fast food chains. Staff and patrons speak Spanish. Near a carniceria. Really has all the underpinnings for a home run. But not quite so we have other places we like better. Burritos have a good scoop of beans - pinto, if that's your thing - but the texture is somehow nearly all beans. Meat or green chile were hard to taste independently. I wished for more acidity and variation in texture. The salsa bar isn't open during Covid so maybe that's where the magic fell short. After driving off the freeway and seeing but ignoring the place for years, Chili Verde has become our weekly go-to Mexican spot! My daughter loves the chicken taquitos with rice and beans. She just loves it plain but loves the flavor and the crunch! My son usually goes with a Carne Asada burrito with no sauce. He is always a happy guy after eating one of those and he eats all of our tortilla chips that come with our orders. I get a 2 taco plate, beans n rice of course, plus a 3rd Ala Carte taco and of course a Modelo Negro. $25. Egg $20 would be better but I'm sold on those chicken taco, with a fried shell. It's probably my 10th time. You come to the register and order, then, (if asked) they give you a small tray w/ chips. The salsa a jalapeño s are right behind you. To go or sit down. . I live out of state (Las Vegas), but lived here 15 years ago. Whenever I come to town for family or friends visit, this is my go to. The best Ground Beef Enchiladas I have ever had. I am here for 4 days and will eat them at least 3 of the 4 days. I have been writing to corporate trying to get them to open one in Vegas for 15 years. So far no luck. I went yesterday and will again today (Easter). Service was awesome though I was the only one there when I arrived. Food was quick and delightful. Stopped by Chile Verde for the first time. Typically I see a line of people ordering here, presumably on lunch from nearby industries, so today I was curious to try it myself. *Spoiler alert: I won't be returning. After quickly reviewing their menu of typical authentically dull American versions of international foods, I settled on a wet burrito to go. How bad could they screw it up, right? Here's how: a wet burrito with salsa verde comes topped with a mixture of cheddar and *American cheese. (American cheese is not actual cheese.) It was the mixed bag of generic cheese so I couldn't request any alternatives. So no fresh ingredients. That's strike 1. Strike two, the burrito itself is internally composed of phony Spanish rice, refried bean paste and the protein of your choice. It's served with a smattering side of lettuce, tomatoes and what seems to be a minuscule portion of guacamole; all of which is actually supposed to go INSIDE the burrito. But I guess it would put them in the red to observe such basics. Strike 3, while there I also went to their salsa bar to accompany this meal with a fresh green salsa. Halfway through this dismal plate I reached for my salsa to pour over this dish in a desperate Hail Mary play. To no avail. The too sour, non-spicy green salsa did nothing to enliven the doomed burrito, but rather forced me to give up three fourths into the meal. Say one positive thing? I finally on a whim, tried it thinking I'd get a quick cheap meal. I did get what I expected, but MORE ! The food was cooked fresh, cooked to order, so it is not fast food. The quality and quantity has a good price to portion relationship, so I found it to be very fair. I'd come back here again, and I recall seeing they do coupon in the residential neighborhood FSI (free standing insert) mailers and coupon guide books distributed to everyone as sort of junk mail advertising, so now I'll pay more attention to their offers. Today i came and got my normal 2 hard tacos and taquitis on the side and they either putting all the leftovers i the tacos and frying them up thinking were stupid and cant tell, or they made a hube mistake that could have really hurt me the taco had fish in it,,, all the girl said was you want a refund????!!! Health dept was contacted and i onow for a fact my tacos had fish in them!!!!!!! People are alergic and this is not a good thing and hire cooks who speak english we are in California and its unacceptable.
