Yes. I read that one star review too. But I can honestly say that was not even close to my experience. I've walked in (without notice and saw the teachers and teachers aids interacting with my misbehaving child(he was taking toys away from other children and screaming at them) in a way that made me 100% assured this was the best place for him. I didn't stop it bc like you I was curious how they would react. They were firm, but not harsh by any means, they were gentle and loving. I'll be honest, it is the tenderhearted nature of the teachers and aids that really have impressed me. The teachers and teachers aids in the 2 and 3 year old program (Ms, Buschra, Ms. Mehwish and aids like Ms.Comfort have been nothing short of amazing. I am honored to have had my son in their classroom.) Seriously, they are the most patient, gentle and genuinely loving teachers and teachers aids who have always treated their students with the utmost respect, patience and kindness. They are effective teachers and have even helped us with potty training. The administration is just as incredible. They know each parent that comes into the day care personally. They address them and say hi when they enter and leave. They know your child's name. They are some of the friendliest people in the DC/MD/Va area. I have friends who have their kids here under other teachers, and they tell me they don't mind driving from College Park to Burtonsvile, just to send their kids to this school. They too, could not be happier or feel more secure about keeping their children in Childway. This is the perfect place for your child. So before you get scared off by the one star review, check out the place and meet the teachers. Watch them interact with the kids. DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILD HERE‼ The price is the most reasonable in th area for a reason. They do not clean up or sanitize the infant and/or toddler room. My son was constantly sick. My husband picked my son one afternoon and my son dropped a toy banana. The follow morning the banana was left in the same area. My son attended for 3 months, but was out sick for a total of 5 weeks intermittently. They aren't sanitizing properly. The owner is not genuine and allows more children than MDSE AND COMAR allows in the class. That means your child can not be properly supervised. Almost every staff meme we is not fluent in English, making it extremely hard to commit your child's needs on the daily basis. ***** My child was severely attacked at school and the admin assistant MELISSA called and LIED stating he was injured on the playground when he was clearly attacked by a bigger child in the TODDLER room, that he should not had been in‼ If you care about your child look away from a Childway Burtonsville‼I've called and make neglect and complaints against this facility. This has to be the weirdest group of individuals. They won't give pricing information or packet unless you agree to bring your child there. I do not recommend this daycare at all. My kids were mentally and verbally abused here, and the aids and teachers never mention anything to me regarding incidents or issues. It was always my kids and when confronted they would say my kids were lying and that they were the bad ones. One incident I confronted the teachers about a group of order kids Jumping my child it was 4 against my child. and their response was tell her to stay away from them then. REALLY?!!!! When my child explained the situation it turns out that these kids were will known for bullying younger kids. and my child had enough and defended another younger child, which resulted her getting phyically jumped. There's never any teachers around when any of these incidents were occur. The teachers and aids are terrible at communicating they do whatever to avoid any confrontation and avoided telling the parents anything regarding their child to avoid the state getting involved. Many teachers and aids are ordered by the director to not say anything to the parents. IF they mention anything the teachers are treated like a bad person for pointing out a wrong doing. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. EVERYBODY IS THEIR FOR THE PAYCHECK. NO COMPASSION OR EMPATHY WHAT SO EVER TOWARDS THE BABIES OR KIDS. Behind closed doors the kids informed me how they mistreat the other children and babies especially the ones with some sort of behavioral problem. After researching a lot online and visiting multiple daycare centers, I was convinced that Childway Early Learning Center would be a good choice for my one-year-old. The staff is kind and friendly and the management team is very open and willing to help in any capacity. The center gives you the family-oriented vibe which was especially important after my husband and I were expecting again shortly after enrollment. The teachers working at the center care about the children in their designated classrooms and others throughout the center. Education is also a priority throughout the center. It has only been 6months since enrollment and already my son can recite the alphabet, numbers, and his animals. I feel extremely comfortable with the quality of care my son is receiving and never have an issue with him going to school day in or out. The bonus is updates throughout the day where parents can see what their child is doing. Truly grateful for the quality of love and care my son receives from this center and will be sending my newest addition. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! If you love your children at all you will keep them away from this "daycare." My son went there for 2 years for PreK and Kindergarten. His first year was wonderful, his teacher was Ms.Annette and she embodies everything a teacher should be. Because of his wonderful teacher the first year, we enrolled him in their Kindergarten program. He got the only Kindergarten teacher there, Ms. Murdess. Ms. Murdess constantly berated the children. On one occasion another child locked my son into the bathroom and refused to let him out. When the door finally opened my son threw the door open (he was afraid of the dark) and it hit another student. At this point Ms. Murdess grabs my child and throws him into a time out chair. My son came home with bruises on his arm in the shape of a hand and fingers. I almost called the authorities, looking back I wish I had, this was abuse of my 4 year old! In addition the classroom aides there are TERRIBLE. One little girl hit my son in the stomach and when he went to tell on her he was told to hit her back so they can both be even. She admitted this when she was confronted and she said she said that because "she was tired of them arguing." In another incident my son got hurt on the playground, he sliced his head open badly and all they did was put a paper towel on his head. When I took him to the ER it required 6 staples in the top of his head and they didnt even so much as put on a bandaid or disinfect it! The staff here is negligent and mean (with the exception of Ms. Annette) They are abusive to the children in my opinion. They come at a cheap price for something considered to be a "private school" but you get what you pay for. They are dangerous and shouldnt be allowed to deal with children. read more

I love it here. My 8-month old is in the infant class and they are wonderful with him. What really turned me on about this school is you don't need an appointment or call ahead to visit. Other daycares required an appointment which makes me think they have to "get tihngs straight" before the parents come. I know they borrow items between the children which is fine with me. If another child needs a diaper or forumula but is out, I have no problem with them borrowing something from my child. I know they have done the same for my child as well. I recommend Childway to anyone. read more

Please do not go here if you have an infant. I took my child out within the first week of being there because of so many red flags. I had a daycare provider snatch my sons bottle out of my hand and when I came to pick him up. They feed your children things without asking you which makes me wonder what else they are doing without asking me. Every time I would come to pick him up he would be in a chair or at the table. I never saw my son being able to crawl around and play with toys. I wish more people would have made reviews so that I wouldn't have to experience what I did. read more

This is our first -ever daycare experience. Our son started here when he was 1 and after spending his first year with family members only we were very worried about leaving him outside of family and how he would do. However, on day 1 of his care he stood up and started walking! what an amazing start of the journey. He got familiar with everything and everyone pretty quick. Never did we receive a call that he was crying and they were unable to keep him entertained, active and happy all day. And it actually has been. Having spend only a couple of months in infants' room, he moved on to the toddlers' class, and is in his 2-year-old program right now - and oh, how lucky we got with our teachers. Ms. Sabiha, Ms. Rahila and all your assistants who help carry all your duties all day long - you are the most caring and wonderful people we have ever met. They care for our son as if he was their own. We would also receive a daily report and an occasional call if there was anything that needed to be reported. They also have a very convenient parent portal - an app that you have access to messaging with the teachers directly as well as pics and videos of your child and the class. They never closed last winter during the school closures. Closed for major holidays (but open for Veterans Day, President's etc). With a heavy heart we are getting ready to move and that means that we will have to take our now 2yo away from this amazing place. We are grateful to everyone and lucky to have found you and have been with you this year! Highly recommend and can definitely vouch for the teachers we have been lucky to have. read more

My daughter has been coming here since she was an infant and I could not be happier! This center is extremely organized, and exemplifies excellent cleanliness. The director and assistant director are extremely helpful and accommodating. They are eager to answer any questions and communicate with me about my daughters learning and growth every step of the way. The teachers are always actively monitoring their classrooms and are always fully aware of what's going on. As a parent, it is extremely comforting to know my daughter is in a safe environment while I am at school or work. Ever since my daughter has joined Childway, I have noticed her social skills and habits have grown tremendously. The staff is extremely proactive in engaging the children in fun learning activities. I would highly recommend Childway to any parent searching for a safe, clean, and friendly day care facility. read more

Called to inquire on who the owners were of this day care to bring my child. When I called I was answered by a gentlemen who refused to give me the name of the owner. A few minutes later I received a call from the business from a woman named Melissa on another number to inquire who I was. I advised her that the gentlemen needs customer service skills and she was not to contact my phone asking who I was. I am not a business you are and I requested information that should have easily been given but the secrecy has completely changed my mind on giving you my business. I will never take my child somewhere when I can't even ask who the business owners are and be given a answer. Melissa responses by cursing at me. A horrible first impression. My daughter attended Childway for three years before we moved her to her current preschool. The school was okay, but my husband and I weren't completely satisfied. The children were never mistreated. We were just not happy with the quality of learning as well as other things. 1. Communication was definitely an issue. Whenever I asked a question about my child or an event, I would not get a clear answer. I would have to ask several times before I got a clear understanding. It would have been nice to have weekly newsletters from the director, or even email accounts for each lead teacher. When I pick my daughter up from her new preschool every day, her teacher tells me if anything happened, whether she had a good or bad day, etc. I never received that type of communication from Childway. 2. They do not have extra clothing if children have accidents. Of course parents should pack extra clothing, but what if the child has multiple accidents? The school should be prepared if situations like this happen. 3. There were no teacher bios. I would have liked to have known each provider's educational background and years of experience. My daughter had two teachers that could not spell. 4. It would have been great if the daycare had secure access. Anyone could walk into the buildings. read more

This center is all about the money. If you are late one day with your payment the director will have the teachers deliver a message to the parents instructing them to come to the office. Who is the student? Parents are now being instructed to 'come to the office'. Shouldn't the teacher be tending to her class instead of passing along messages? You have a file with parents contact numbers. Why don't you call the parent and ask them to meet with you instead of passing messages through the teachr. These people run this center as a business instead of a child care center. They look at your kids and see dollar signs. Get it together! read more

I would never recommend this place. It is very outdated and there is constant turnover within the staff... My son's teacher quit because of how unprofessional the owners were and I was never informed that there would be a new teacher assigned to his class until 2 weeks later, when I asked. The final straw for me was when my son, who suffers from Alopecia, was told that he was "ugly" and that "his hair looked stupid" by one of the teachers who filled in for his class. He was 5 at the time, so lucky he was able to tell me how he was treated. I went right to the school and demanded answers as to why my child was made to feel poorly about his appearance by an ADULT that was suppose to care for him and nurture him. I never even met this teacher! When I asked the other parents if they knew this particular teacher, their response was "the slow lady?". I had no clue who this lady was, but when I finally saw her, I was shocked that she was in a position to care for children... and I was even more shocked that these parents knew her and still let their children go there. She looked very off and absolutely looked like a person with special needs, who did not have the mental capacity to be working with children. I immediately pulled my son from that place and never looked back. I did file a complaint with the state, so I am not sure what the outcome was, or if this individual is still employed there. Their main goal is to save money, so they invest very little into their operation, and hire staff that are either desperate for work, or not competent enough to get employment elsewhere. Please do your little ones a favor and go elsewhere! These innocent babies deserve much better care. read more

Finding childcare is so stressful. In a scramble, I was fortunate to find availability for my three young children at Childway's summer 2019 program. I met with the director who was extremely professional and gave me a tour of the facility. Childway has a lot of building space which gives me a lot of confidence in their ability to handle the pandemic during this unprecedented time. Before making my decision to enroll my children I evaluated Childway's standards for safety, cleanliness, care for your child, outdoor time and enrichment. The moment my kids started at Childway I immediately felt comfortable most importantly secure knowing my children were safe and looked after by caring, warm teachers and childcare providers. In fact, we drove 30 minutes out of our way one way for dropoffs/pickups because the facility we chose was that much worth it to us. Since then our two year old has been with Childway and I couldn't be happier with how much she's grown and already has a great building vocabulary. The staff there truly cares and treats you like family. I recommend Childway to anyone! You will be happy and comforted knowing your children are under excellent care. read more

I should have posted this review a couple of years ago but was so busy moving I forgot. My son went here back in 2015. Another child approached my son asking if he could come to his house. So I told the little boy to ask his mom because we lived in the same apt building. The next day I drop my son off at school and the parent is banging on my car window asking what I said to her child. The teacher's told the parent that I told her child I didn't want him in my house. I would never say anything like that to a child especially when the parent isn't present. She threatened to kick my a** and kicked my car. So I called the police. I sat down with the police and gave my statement. When the police left the OWNER informed me that they didn't appreciate having the police called in front of their place of business and that some of the parents were concerned. I then told the owner they should be concerned because your teacher's aid is spreading false rumors and caused all of this. They then stated they would talk to the teacher's aid. So I come in for a scheduled meeting and of course the teacher's aid denied everything. They said they stand by their teacher's aid 100%. At that point I was extremely disgusted. I kept getting harassed by the other parent and eventually pressed charges. I took my son out of this daycare. This daycare is unsafe for parents and children. I would look elsewhere. The owners are very rude and condescending. My husband even had to step in and they were still rude. This place needs to be closed down. read more

I do not recommend this center. You can barely understand the accents of the teachers and a lot of the staff is rude. I walked into my daughters classroom to pick her up to find her shirt soaked with drool when she had several bibs the teacher could have put on. The teacher proceeded to change her shirt when I noticed two fresh bright red scratches on her belly. When I asked what happened, I was told that she came to daycare that way. I lotion and dress my baby every morning and definitely would have noticed these scratches that almost broke the skin!! I also had an issue with one of the teachers whose whole demeanor changed for the worse just because I requested my child to be in another room. My daughter only went to the daycare for a few months but missed several days because she was always catching bugs from daycare. Then the center has the nerve to require a one month notice to withdrawal your child. I do not have a good feeling about this center and due to the fact that they could not tell me how my daughter got hurt, but insisted she came to class that way is mind boggling. My baby will not be returning and I am seriously debating on filing a police report. read more

My child attended this daycare for pre-K. Most of the staff members are really nice. I only encountered one person I truly didn't like because of her attitude. My child's teacher was so sweet and caring. The facility is awesome, clean and they have so many activities for the kids. I only had one minor problem that was resolved. Before putting in my 2 year old (he is 3 now, my Son has been there for a year now) i read mixed reviews and checked out nearby schools, found the Childway in the Burtonsville/Silver Spring are seemed be more clean and organized than others we visited. Luckily for us we our Son was put in a Class where the teacher went the extra mile, our Son is a very picky eater, Ms. Bushra spends extra time with him during lunch to feed him, we really appreciate the extra time she puts in with our Son. When Ms Bushra was gone during vacation, our Son would bring his food home, we were happy when she returned. Since he will be moving to another class we are hoping that other teachers will be as helpful, we asked for recommendation on 3 year old teachers classes, and also went to their open-house to meet with all of the different teachers and their curriculum for the next year. I would say that overall the daycare is clean and they have a cleaning Staff come to clean it Weekly. As any school, it is deepened on the management and the teachers they provide. read more
