From the very beginning, I knew my babies were safe, loved, and genuinely cared for. Life took an unexpected turn when I lost my job, and I was so scared of what that would mean for my kids and their daycare. I had no idea how I was going to pay my balance--but in a moment that still brings me to tears, a silent partner stepped in and paid it all. Because of that kindness, my children were able to stay in the place they love and feel comfortable. I can't thank the Kids R Kids staff and teachers enough for treating Iyla and Jonathan like they were their own. The love, patience, and care you show every single day means more than you'll ever know. You didn't just care for my kids--you supported me during one of the hardest moments of my life. I will forever be grateful.

The Goddard School of Waxhaw undoubtedly makes their best effort to care for all children by providing them with everything they could need while in the schools care. If I could give Zero stars, I'd happily do it, but let me delve deeper into the infuriating ordeal…read moremy grandson endured at Goddard School in Waxhaw--it was nothing short of a living nightmare. Picture this: my innocent three-year-old acting out in class for weeks on end. And what insightful solution does the school offer? Suppression clothes and a suggestion for a professional evaluation. Fair enough, we were contemplating those options. But then, out of the blue, they drop the bombshell--kicking him out on a Friday evening, no less, at the ungodly hour of 6 PM! Can you even fathom the recklessness of such a decision? It left us in an absolute frenzy, scrambling to find last-minute childcare while also threatening the stability of a newly acquired job. When I chose to confront them about their callousness and request a copy of my grandson's file, what did I get? Disrespected and dismissed, with Sherrie having the gall to slam the phone down on me! Let me make it abundantly clear: my grandson has been a part of the Goddard family since he was barely old enough to walk. And yet, after just a solitary month of behavioral struggles, they cast him aside like he means nothing! The audacity of their actions is beyond belief! I'll be honest, as the only African-American male in his class, when I suggested the importance of building his confidence and strengths to prevent him from feeling isolated, I was unfairly labeled as a racist. Despite our request for him to be moved to a more challenging environment being denied, we persisted, determined not to see him left behind. Initially, we thought the Goddard program, being a 5-star school, would be an excellent fit. But in Waxhaw, it's clear it's not suitable for everyone. The resistance we faced in advocating for our child's needs highlighted a troubling lack of inclusivity and understanding. I would not recommend this school at all it you don't want to play the popularity game and buy into these dynamics in order for you child to have equal access to opportunities for advancement DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILD at this school.

I want to be clear that we had many wonderful teachers during our time there. Unfortunately, the issues with administration, staffing, communication, and consistency ultimately made us uncomfortable continuing to send our children there. Over the course of the year, there were four directors and multiple assistant changes. Our daughter had six different teachers and assistants. Children were also frequently moved between classrooms due to staffing issues, making consistency nearly impossible. Communication from administration was consistently poor. We were not informed when both of our children's teachers left on the same day, and we frequently received little or no advance notice about staffing-related classroom closures. Families were repeatedly asked to keep their children home because of staffing shortages, sometimes with notice as late as 9:30 p.m. One evening, we were not informed that our daughter's classroom would be closed until after 6:00 p.m. We are still waiting for our refund for this day despite multiple phone calls. On one occasion, administration sent a message stating that drop-off was being closed because there were not enough parent volunteers. Rather than taking responsibility for the staffing shortage that led to the closure, the communication placed the blame on families for not volunteering. Regardless of the circumstances, we found that approach concerning and reflective of the larger lack of accountability we experienced. Communication regarding illness was another major concern. We became aware that staff had been informed of both a case of croup and a case of strep in our daughter's classroom, but those exposures were never communicated to us. Classes were also routinely combined at the end of the day because of staffing shortages, including after illness exposures, resulting in children from different classrooms being grouped together exposing more children. Our experience with our son also raised serious concerns about basic attention to detail. Within his eight days attending cadence, his bathing suit was sent home with another child and took approximately three weeks and repeated follow-ups to get back. His labeled bottle was sent home with the wrong child, and a different bottle was left in his cubby. Most concerning, his feeding plan was lost. For approximately two weeks, he was not being fed according to his plan because there was no consistent person in his classroom after his teacher left. For a childcare facility, I consider losing a child's feeding instructions and not following them for two weeks to be an extremely serious issue. I understand that staffing challenges happen, and I do not expect perfection. I do expect transparency, consistency, and confidence that the people caring for my children know their individual needs. Unfortunately, we did not have that confidence at Cadence. I would not recommend Cadence to families looking for a safe, consistent, attentive, and well-managed childcare environment. We ultimately decided that the lack of stability, communication, and accountability was not worth continuing.

For the most part, we've had positive experiences with many of the staff and teachers at Oakcrest…read more There are some wonderful individuals who truly care for the kids, and I want to acknowledge that upfront. That said, this review is not directed at them--it's directed at the organization, leadership, and ownership behind Oakcrest. We've had two children enrolled here since 2022 and have paid over $83,000 in tuition--never missing a single payment. We've supported the school, told other families about it, and truly tried to be good members of the community. Recently, our youngest was accepted into a new program, and we gave 35 days' notice that he wouldn't be returning. Unfortunately, I missed the "re-enrollment deadline" by 12 days and was hit with a $200 re-enrollment fee. I take full responsibility for missing the cutoff. But what shocked me was the complete lack of empathy or understanding from leadership. No flexibility. No conversation. Just a cold response quoting a handbook. I wasn't asking for special treatment--I was asking for basic human decency after years of loyalty. To make it worse, the communication around this policy was minimal. We received only one reminder in March--no follow-ups, no texts, no push notifications through the app. And yet, they'll call or message multiple times if your child has a mild illness. So it's not a tech limitation--it's a priority issue. Oakcrest brands itself as a "preparatory academy," but at the end of the day--it's a corporate daycare with a polished image. They're quick to run book drives and food drives (which families support), but when it comes to truly valuing long-term families--they've made it clear where their priorities lie. If you're a family comparing child care options, I'd encourage you to look deeper than the branding. Our experience has been a harsh reminder that no matter how much time, money, or trust you invest--you're still just a number on a spreadsheet to them. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it.

Unfortunately, we experienced several issues during our short five months at Primrose School of…read moreSouth Charlotte. This week, our toddler was left outside alone on the playground for 8 minutes and was only discovered when another teacher happened to look out a window and see him. That's right--his own teachers didn't even realize he was missing. Who knows how much longer he would have been left alone if another teacher hadn't happened to see him? Watching the video of him crying and banging on the door to be let inside for nearly 6 of those 8 minutes was absolutely heartbreaking. Both the owner and director acknowledged that his toddler classroom teachers failed to complete the basic name-to-face procedure required whenever children return inside from the playground. The explanation provided by the teachers as to why the didn't follow procedure was deemed unacceptable by both the director and the owner. In our personal view, this was the result of two lazy and incompetent teachers. The school's staffing challenges are concerning, but they do not excuse failures in child supervision. To make matters worse, we were offered a free week of daycare following the incident and the teacher responsible, who was within her 90 day probationary period, remains employed. We made the decision to immediately withdraw our son. No parent should have to worry about whether their toddler is safe or even accounted for while in someone else's care. We hope other parents take this incident seriously when considering enrollment. One additional point of context: Primrose recently emailed parents asking them to leave positive reviews, with teachers receiving compensation for each review that specifically mentioned them. While I'm not suggesting those reviews are necessarily dishonest or that parents' positive experiences aren't genuine, I believe prospective families deserve to know about the incentive behind the recent influx of teacher-specific five-star Google reviews when using online reviews to evaluate the school.
