Had a great time here! They have made some changes from the last time we went which was about 3yrs ago! But the changes were for the better! So much to do and really easy to pass the time there. They don't have the train anymore, no more shadow room, and you can't go up and explore in the upper level of a room. Which is probably a smart move to close that. But they have a magnetic room, craft room, big blue blocks you can build things with, a blowing machine with a tube above and they have lighter objects that float up and out which is fun and whimsical! It's a really fun place and worth the $5 bucks/each and drive in our case.

I was pleasantly surprise with this Children's Museum. Admission is $5, which is a lot cheaper than others we have visited. It is small, but they pack quite a bit in there. I loved that they are not very busy. It was very easy to keep an eye on my kids. The shadow room is really fun.

We have been to a ton of children's museums, and I feel like this one could be the example by which all other small towns design their children's museums! This appears to be an old house that was renovated to be a place for kids and families together. They have a lovely, large gathering room that looks to be for both arts and crafts as well as a central place for birthday parties. Throughout the remainder of the house are mini themed rooms that facilitate both running around and creative play. The place is awesome and works great for kids that are very young all the way to preteens! The rooms include a kitchen set up, a room focused on dental hygiene, a room with blocks, Lincoln logs and toys for smaller kiddos, as well as a room with a full climbing wall that lead to a small slide, a room with black lights and a wall with types with magnets on them that allow you to build tunnels for Boston go down. There's also a room with water and sand where the kids can build as well as a full outdoor set up complete with a small fire truck, a boatAnd a life-size TV. We came on a rather gloomy day in February When there were a good number of people here...and I have to imagine this place is absolutely crazy in the summertime! It was something like four dollars per kid to get in, and we spent a good two hours here exploring and playing. After spending some time here, we are absolutely in love with this place. It's not a fancy museum like you see in large cities, but it facilitates a lot of creativityIt was a great place for the kids to runoff some energy and explore a little bit. Next project, get one of these in our hometown!

Physician Marcus Whitman and Narcissa Whitman established the Whitman Mission in Cayuse (Native American) territory. The Cayuse initially welcomed the Whitmans, but as the increasing numbers of settlers passing by on Oregon Trail worried the Cayuse, tensions grew. It all came to a head when a measles outbreak in November 1847 killed half the local Cayuse. The settlers were also affected, but fared better. The Cayuse took it to mean that the Whitmans were responsible for the deaths of the Cayuse, as to them, the doctor was the cause of death. The Whitmans and 11 other people were killed, and others taken hostage, sparking the Cayuse War. It ended when five Cayuse men were turned in for being the perpetrators (without clear evidence) and hanged. The visitor's center is built on the site of the mission. The center has a gift shop, a movie, and a small museum to explain the events that occurred here. Outside, there is a trail that brings you to a memorial obelisk, and meanders past the foundations of the mission buildings.
