Pottery, jewelry, wood and glass work... trinkets and statement pieces adorn the quiet gallery shop shelves and walls. Beyond that, the space opens up into the gallery itself. A single, brightly-lit room that showcases the work of local artists. It's run by the Allied Arts Association who states that they seek to provide "art development, awareness and education for the Mid-Columbia region of Washington State, including the cities of Pasco, Kennewick, Richland and surrounding areas." Currently, they are running a show themed: Urban Sketchers: Tri-Cities and David Wyatt. The work was well-displayed, with room to breathe -- I should think that any artist would be honored to have their artwork displayed there. The Allied Arts Association and Gallery also have adult and children's workshops, and host an annual Art in the Park festival. Overall the entire gallery was filled with many paintings (from floor to ceiling). I was here for a friend exhibiting, and I do have to say his White on White pieces totally stole the show and stood out the most. But yeah, I am a total fan of art. The Tri-Cities can use more of places like this. I believe most of the paintings on displays were for sale, and were made by local artist. So if you are in the mood for styling up your place with coolness and color this might be a place for you to check out!

Seriously, if you want to find a quirky piece of art or a vintage chair, then this place is for you! My husband and I visited over 4th of July weekend and this little shop made my day. After picking our way through a few of somewhat junky and cramped shops, we decided to take a look in the shop with a jaunty painted Bob Ross Sign. We ended up having a great chat with the owner and found a perfect piece of art by a local Pacific Northwest Artist, Heidi Ellington. It matches our home so well, it's like it was made for us. The shop, with it's unique collection of art and kitschy gifts and its kind and friendly owner are worth the drive if you happen to be near the wonderfully Andy-Griffith-Like town of Prosser.

Update: gallery closed…read more A new contemporary art gallery located in the front portion of a new graphics /media business known as Cold Coffee Media. Gallery is run by the local arts collective Waypoint Studios. Satellite is still very new but is very promising--- with strongly curated art exhibits featuring not only local artists from the community, but Eastern Oregon art students, nationally known artists, and open invitationals.
