Food is pretty bad. Don't even speak English. Service was slow as well as waiting for my food. Don't recommend :/

If i could give this place a zero i would. I went with my family and wanted to have a good time.. from the get go we walked in and nobody greeted us and we did not know if we can just sit down. I asked the girl behind the bar and she walked around and pointed us to a table and said just sit there. Lol. We sat and the waitress came and gave us filthy menus that had food on it. Crazy right. Then we ordered three margaritas and straight up got lime juice. Terrible, but we dealt with it. Then the waitress finally came around like 20 min later so we ordered our appetizers and entree and 5 to 7 min later she put everything on the table at once. Last I checked an appetizer should come out first but we just dealt with it. The waitress never came back AT ALL. we had to flag her down for a to go box and asked for the bill. She never came back again so we had to walk to the bar to pay and the whole staff got involved with my bill bc I had a freaking $2 off coupon.. I basically told them its not worth my time to stand here for 10 min while yall keep looking at me like u have never seen a coupon. They gave me a bill where as 3 people ate for $100 bucks!? Three margaritas and one coors light was $45. No wonder they didn't have them on the menu with the price. Absolutely terrible service and the food was not worth the money. Also, clean up the throw up on your entrance not a good site for a new customer although I almost made my contribution to the entrance after seeing how you ripped me off. The food was fresh and delicious. A good experience all around, and definitely the best Mexican we've found outside the city! Solid.

The guacamole was delicious. The camarones a la diablo was spicy delicious! My nose was running, my eyes were watering, but I couldn't stop eating them shell and tail. The tortillas were fresh and tasty. The first one fell apart on me, but sometimes fresh homemade ones do. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. read more

Would have received 5 stars if the service was friendly. I walked in and stood until otherwise told to find my seat. The cook/manager looked at me like I was stupid and gave me a look like "why aren't you sitting?". Delicious food and very affordable. Parking is an issue. Good, cheap, authentic tacos! What else could you really want? This place is a no frills taco join on Roosevelt and can easily be missed if not looking for it. I work around the corner and always complaining about the lack of good, local restaurants in the immediate area so I am pleased to have found this place. I got the 5 tacos for $8 which you are allowed to choose your meats. I wanted variety so I ordered 1 chicken, 2 pork and 2 beefs. The tacos came on corn tortillas stuffed with the meaty filling and topped with fresh pico de gallo and cilantro. They also had a pickled veggie bar which added great flavor to the already amazing tacos. I really liked the sauces they served on the side so you can decide how much spice you want to add. I was stuffed after eating 3 so saved the other 2 for my lunch the next day. The service is not bad, but its a taco joint so don't expect much. If you don't speak spanish expect that to also affect your experience. read more

If you like real Mexican food, this is the place to visit. Excellent food, fun environment and the service is superb. Went in last night. Waitresses are more concerned with how they look than waiting on guests.Our waitress took my drink order and walked away without asking my boyfriend what he wanted. I entered this restaurant blindfolded with four other blindfolded friends. To say we made a splash on our arrival would be putting it lightly. But you aren't reading this review to learn how my friends and I introduce each other to new restaurants; you want to know about this one. OK, so I will start with the most important thing: the food. It's great! This is very authentic Mexican food that is hard to come by in NOLA. Everything we had at the table was delicious from the appetizers to our entrees. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the tacos. They seemed pretty lackluster compared to everything else. There is a salsa bar that is a great addition to your meal if you are craving some additional spice. Now for the not so great things about this place. First, there are not too many English speaking people in this restaurant. The customer base, the servers, the bartenders, all pretty much speak Spanish. You should assume that you will have a communication issue at some point if you don't follow suit. Second, they seemed to be out of quite a few things. Ordering here is just kind of a pain in general. Third, no margaritas on the rocks, at least not to my knowledge (this could have been another communication issue thing). Lastly, they are in no hurry. So if you are trying to make a flight, skip it. Overall, great authentic Mexican food in an area that is severely lacking but it may be a little too authentic for you, gringo. read more

The food here is amazing.... the 2 stars is because I like to be treated like a person when I dine out. If you want some good food this is the place to go; if you are lucky enough to show up on the night the wait staff feels like working. Every time we go here its the same problems and we always say its our last time! But the taste of the food brings us back... but that can be another issue because if you come two nights in a row and order the same meal, well your plate may come out looking differently than the time before! Its frustrating when Im craving exactly what i had before and im told sorry we are out of that or this or we only serve that on weekends! Like why didnt you tell me before I ordered! Or if you are like me and have to have chips and salsa when you eat mexican beware on some days you get them and some days I guess they didnt feel like cooking any up! Ugh! So anyways this review comes because we went tonight, they were busy and we were prepared to wait.... a table came open and we were next and we asked if we could sit and they said yes.... as we are sitting there we see 2 more tables seated and orders taken... drinks, food, the works.... all while we sat there.... not even acknowledged.....and as I look around and see no chips and salsa on anyones table, i knew right away I had to get out of this place fast! This place is terrible, if I could give it 0 stars I would. I went to this restaurant last night hoping to eat some tacos and have a good time. The waiter Joanna I think her name was brought us 6 napkins for a table of 8, then she took forever to bring us our drinks. When she brought out the food she didn't bring us any hot sauce or even salt and pepper.(things that should usually already be on the table) she was nowhere to be seen the whole time we ate. She never once came to check on us. After we all ate we were just ready to go. But we sat there for like 20 minutes waiting on her to bring us our check. When finally came over we told her separate she said okay. And came back with one check. She told us AFTER that we could split the check. Then had the nerve to charge us a $17 gratuity. Which I brought up to her that she was a terrible server and I didn't not want to pay for this nonsense. She then directed me to the "manager". I spoke with her and she was even worse then the waitress!! She was rude and told me that I had to pay it and there was nothing she could do. She said she didn't care if we came back or not and didn't even care that we were treated very poorly . I will never come back here again. Do not come here unless you want to eat some alright food with some terrible service and even worse management. This place is a disaster. read more

After a long morning of flying, I was desperate for some real food (not airport prepackaged junk). I found this place on yelp so, the three of us headed over. Yup, its a hole in the wall and looks like nothing special from the outside. When you walk in, everyone is speaking Spanish, the kitchen is open, and the staff is friendly. The margaritas were tasty. The chips were crisp and the salsa was warm and delicious. I ordered a chicken salad with the carnitas taco on the side. The taco was tiny with big flavor! I could have eaten a dozen of them easily. My salad was large and delicious. I wasn't expecting a layer of refried beans on the bottom. I'm not a fan of refried beans at all. I was hungry enough to just attempt to eat around them. I doubt I could have sent it back because of the language barrier. Overall, good meal, good service, lots of options, but not much to look at. read more

Walked into this place and felt like I was in Little Mexico, loud Mariachi music playing, a real high energy vibe and restaurant was filled with (mostly) Latinos. AWESOME! This is a good sign! We stood at the door until a big lady in a booth (Mama?) motioned for us to take a seat. We were he told us that a waitress would be out to help us. So we waited. And waited. We made eye contact with Mama and the guy sitting across the booth from her (Son? Manager?) who were both talking to people on walkie talkies. The thing is, other people were getting waited on, even people who came in AFTER us. Finally, about 10 minutes after sitting down, the man (across from Mama) approached one of the waitresses and then escorted her over and she took our order. English was not that strong for either of them, but we told him (very nicely) that we had a plane to catch and would like to place our order, as we were ready almost immediately after sitting down.The food took a while but we were happy munching on our appetizer guacamole which was excellent, the complimentary chips was a nice idea except that we had to wait about 20 minutes between baskets and we were a hungry family trying to sop up our guac! The salsa was warm, which was odd in itself, and tasted pretty much like tomato sauce. That was really disappointing. Ordered chicken tacos and a burrito which were just ok, not particularly flavorful. We ended up being there an hour by the time we got our bill (which took at least 10 minutes to receive, and another 10 minutes to get picked up). I REALLY wanted to like this place - I love finding holes in the wall and especially authentic ethnic cuisine, but to me, it was just OK. The customer service was the worst part. It almost felt like reverse discrimination as we were the only non-Latinos in the place and the staff seemed to be hustling to serve everyone else, except us. Overall, a disappointment. read more

My co-worker and I where in the mood for some authentic Mexican food within walking distance of our hotel. Yelp led us to this place. Walking through the parking lot I was a little worried. The place looked pretty run down.....but what the heck....I did say authentic didn't I? We seated ourselves and the waitress was soon there with chips and salsa. Very pleasant girl and fun to talk too. I asked about the salsa bar and was told to help yourself. We took several samples and all where great! Now with all those salsa's I had to have a Margarita. I didn't ask price, just ordered the large on the rocks. It was good, not great, especially at $7.50. I had the grilled chicken with all the sides. I could tell the chicken was flat grilled and not open flame. It was still juicy and tender. My partner ordered the mixed fajitas. A very large serving showed up. He was very happy with his choice. Horrid food and not true Mexican cuisine. Sat at the bar for our to go order, ordered margaritas blended and they served them on the rocks. Requested chicken - pollo and was served beef. Was informed they were out of cheese and was absolutely fine with that and indicated I did not want queso, smothered my dish in cheese anyway. Confused to say the least. $32 for bottled margarita mix and one cheap shot of tequila. Never offered or received complementary chips. Do not recommend this place unless you want to chew grisle in your beef. Refried beans were liquid and tasted like dog food. I would not consider This even to be Tex-Mex. read more

Went in after a long day of filming on a tv show. Got there at 10:15 and had looked up closing time which was 11. They did not want to serve me and my friend but finally after speaking in Spanish to one another for 2-3 minutes they allowed us to sit. The waitress could not or refused to speak in English and there was an incredible amount of what seemed to be racism stirring around the place. Went in for lunch today and both my husband and I ate very well for a combined total of $16. We both ordered tacos. Best tacos I've ever had in my life. We were upset that the drinks were just too expensive and that the staff's English was pretty limited. However, how much more authentic can you get? I will be back probably once a week! read more
