I spoke to Chika on the phone regarding my issues with my taxes for 2016 and 2017. Chika was incredibly pleasant on the phone and immediately followed up with an email and invoice with instructions on how to get my documents to her. I really appreciate her punctuality and kind attitude. My only issue with this particular service was the fee she was going to charge me: $750 for 2016 and $650 for 2017 taxes! After our call I did some research and called several tax services in the Bay Area, and every estimate I received I was quoted under $350. I felt like I was being weaseled and that made me question many other things. $400 difference is ridiculous! I have no doubt that Chika is incredible at what she does. Chika is a fantastic accountant. I have a pretty complicated tax picture (foreign income, real estate transactions, etc), and she has managed my filing process seamlessly for 3+ years. She uses simple online tax portfolio software (Canopy), which makes uploading documents easy and millennial-friendly. If I throw an scenario at her that she hasn't handled before (e.g. capital gains from a Canadian real estate transaction), she researches it, finds the answers and handles it. She's highly communicative throughout the filing process, and sets expectations for when you'll hear back on next steps. I also appreciate that she proactively reaches out throughout the year to ensure my withholdings are on-track. I needed my taxes from a couple years past redone on short notice as my previous CPA bailed on me. Hi, My name is Jonathan. I'm from California, but for the last 9 months I have been living overseas. I worked in America up until last August (2015). During this past working year, 2015, I worked at a regular job and also drove for Uber. So, when it came time for "Tax Season", I knew it was going to be a challenge for me.
