I wanted to edit this review, because it made me sound like I reviewed while mad/upset. I have been working with this company for 5+ years, & I used to file single. Once I was married & we had complicated things to add, we made sure to go to Viet. I used to get to make an appointment with him in person & he answered any & all of my questions, before I filed. But sadly COVID hit & things changed to online. My husband & I have changed careers several times since 2022, & we had a baby, so there are several things to add into your taxes. This year, we spent over $15k in medical expenses, had our first child, & hoped we would get some kind of a tax refund. But unfortunately that didn't happen. When I asked about adding money to our IRAs, or why we didn't get to file itemized, or how else we can reduce our tax bracket, we were told it was a "paid question that required a paid appointment". Anyway, I think you can get your own taxes done for free or less than you're charged by this guy. He can't help you with basic questions without requiring money so... stay aware & ask questions! read more

I recently used Tax Services, Inc. for our 2025 tax return. Our situation was moderately complex -- multiple W-2s, HSA contributions across several plans, backdoor Roth IRA conversions, dependent care benefits, and 401k rollovers. Viet handled it all and was responsive throughout. When I caught an item that needed correction during my review, he acknowledged it and uploaded a corrected return the same day. Trang is also great with communication and scheduling. The TaxDome portal makes everything smooth. A few things to know: the $150 admin fee is non-refundable, all questions are billable, and full payment is required before you can review your return. I work around 40-60 hours a week and having been a full time single dad, I used to do my taxes on Turbo Tax for years and it was getting super stressful. I would get some random error and then I would reach out to Turbo Tax and they will try to upsell or give me some vague answer to my problem which would frustrate me even more. You upload your documents to a tax portal called Tax Dome and let them know through that portal that everything is uploaded and they do their magic. The app you use has all the tools to upload. I'm not usually one to leave negative reviews for a small business, but I wish I could foresee what a mistake it was to work with Viet at Tax Services. Although he was responsive, the "starting price" tripled upon completion of the work with no warning whatsoever. I paid three times the price of any other CPA I've ever filed with. If that's not enough - I just received a $1,000 penalty from IRS since I was not instructed by Viet to submit payment in April. Told me he filed for extension and not to do a thing. Reached out to see if he would make it right and now not only did I pay $500 over going rate to file my return, now I have a $1,000 expense due to his negligence. I chose Tax Services based on their positive reviews but unfortunately did not have the experience I hoped for. While I understood and agreed to the $150 non-refundable deposit upfront, I was surprised to find an additional $75 "admin fee" on my final bill, which had not been disclosed. When I asked for clarification, the explanation I received was vague and referred to as "administration expenses such as rent, software, phone etc." and Viet later cited the Engagement Letter's mention of the admin fee being a part of the "out-of-pocket expenses" I incurred. While Viet eventually removed the undisclosed "admin fee" he resent the invoice with a higher hourly rate instead. I believe all fees should be communicated transparently, just as the deposit was. Due to the confusion and lack of clear disclosure, I ultimately decided to file elsewhere. I ended up working with Rudy Cortes Tax Services, Iand found the process transparent, efficient, and thorough, with reasonable fees and no hidden charges. read more

I'm shocked and appalled that our tax preparer's assistant, Trang would seem to be finding joy, "too bad for you" in turning away a client (of several years) who simply asked how much of an increase we would see this year. We wanted a ballpark quote. Not the exact amount, but an idea since my husband had lost his job. It's apparent that this is not the most professional firm, the building is decrepit and often filled with cigarette or other smoke with a vagrant under the stairs, but it is close to our home so we returned. The dry wall was being repaired when we went with our documents and we were told by Trang we would be paying more because of the new software and rent increase and repairs to the property. My husband has met with Viet in the past and found him to be reasonable and professional. I'm not sure why he would allow the face of his company to be someone so disrespectful for absolutely no reason. We did not have a confrontation, we simply said we will see if we can get a quote from another company and when we couldn't, we were sneered at and not welcome as clients. I feel such a mix of emotions but the main one is disappointment. How could you treat us as if we have no value? I think the way you treat people is more important than simply being competent. I hope you consider this review seriously and do better in the future, if not, I'm sure karma will straighten it all out. Your response is a LIE. Unbelievable, there is absolutely NO WAY you will slander my husband and I. Your business will undoubtedly face more challenges as you reap what you sow. The experiences that we had with the Viet was amazing. My husband didn't turn in our taxes early enough that I was afraid that we will have to extend our filing. But Viet came through for us and was able to get us our taxes completed by the 18th. We were given clear instructions of what we needed to do from signatures to sending a check to the IRS. I am fully confident in the services provided by Viet. But I certainly learned that we needed to get our taxes done as early as possible to avoid anxiety during tax time.
