There is always a couple hour walk in wait, so an appointment is seats recommended unless you have time to walk across the street to Temple coffee for a cup of coffee to chill and wait. Went here with my wife for her body piercings based on Yelp reviews and my fellow Yelpers did not steer us wrong! Funky environment in the upstairs of a typical midtown two story building. Felt a little self conscious about being the oldest folks in the place but staff were kind and gracious. Brit immediately made my wife feel comfortable and set us both at ease. She was very knowledgeable, competent and appropriately confident in her abilities. Very clean shop but my ONLY issue is the staff wear gloves everywhere and you never see them actually change them between handling objects in the front of the house and dealing with clients (Brit was understanding when I asked her to don a new pair of gloves). Brit was a fantastic piercer who was incredibly kind and the piercings themselves didn't really hurt! They kept the mood very friendly and comfortable. Brit has an incredible sense of style, I knew I could count on them to lead me right with jewelry and piercing placement recommendations. When it turned out that I have the wrong anatomy for an industrial bar, Brit recommended a faux rook and helix piercing instead, they explained I could link them with a chain once healed for a similar look. I came to Chief to get my septum pierced in October and it was an incredible experience! I had to RSVP a couple months in advance because Katrina was booked out... but it was for good reason and she was worth the wait! I've wanted a septum piercing for a long time but have felt pretty anxious about the pain and healing process. I chose to go to Chief because their website was encouraging and empowering and soothed a lot of my fears. I was able to read a few blogs with healing tips and information on what to expect. On the day of my appointment, I was so happy to see that the whole shop felt so peaceful and serene. It definitely took the edge off. The receptionist was kind, helpful, and disarming and got me all set up with my release forms and a bag of salt to take home for saline baths. The piercer, Katrina, was gentle, patient, and kind as she explained what she'd be doing. She let me ask as many questions as I needed to so that I'd feel comfortable and safe. She was committed to practicing exceptional hygiene with her tools and wore a mask while piercing me. The piercing itself took all of one minute. It was so fast and didn't hurt as much as I expected. I was really surprised. It was more like a pinch than anything, and even though my eyes watered a little bit, I didn't have any lasting pain in my nose the rest of the day. Just a little stiffness and a bit of tenderness at the point of my nose. Katrina put in a piece of retainer jewelry tucked up and hidden from view and we scheduled my jewelry choosing day for December. Healing was quite easy. I did the recommended salt bath every day and used a dab of coconut oil to keep the area moisturized, and that helped with any irritation. The retainer was pretty comfortable, although it was a bit hard to keep my nose clear (totally expected). I healed really well -- it was even easier than my earlobes! In December I chose my final jewelry. This shop has lots of great options, and although some rings are pricey, they are GORGEOUS and high quality. I ended up choosing two rings because I loved them so much. I asked if I could hold a mirror and if Katrina could explain the install step-by-step so I could learn how to do it myself, and she did that so patiently. My piercing looks incredible and I'm so happy. (It's so much easier to blow my nose now with the regular piercing installed instead of the retainer.) And they charged us $90 .. 4 days after I kissed my bf it fell out and I came back to tell them !
