This is a local Filipino family owned and operated tailor shop. Conveniently situated on Hampton Blvd about a mile from Norfolk Base. It is the main go-to tailor shop in the area, besides the big NEX. From my many experiences having my uniforms done here, they do excellent work, you can expect speedy service and it's easy on the bank as well. Parking is very tight in that tiny strip mall, but it is what it is. There's some side street residential parking available within easy walking distance too. Besides, that, Chief Mac is great and definitely my go-to spot for anything involving uniform tailoring. Highly recommended! A few things to point out for sailors to keep in mind: - Dry cleaning is done off premises via a third party vendor, so keep in mind, especially during dress uniform seasons, don't expect your uniforms to be done in a day or two; it'll probably take at least 4-5 days. - If you're in a rush, you can ask them if they can hook you up. These people are super rude. I came in with my roommate's stuff and it was 20 minutes before they were closed and the girl told me she couldn't take it, even though it wasn't dry cleaning and I already had written what needed to be done. Her and a man begin arguing in a different language, and then she rolled her eyes and said "yes, we can take it." If it had been my stuff, I would have walked out of there and never returned; however, my roommate has used them for a while. After I told him what happened, I doubt he will use them again. If you are open until a certain time, then you should accept the items on your board until that time. I was needing a few patches and other items sewn onto my ASUs, and searched the web for reputable shop in the area. My number one concern was finding a shop in this Navy town that would be able to quickly alter my uniform within regulation. The location of this shop is a bit odd, the parking is incredibly tight, however you can park on the street in the neighborhood behind it. When I arrived late last Saturday afternoon there was a line almost out the door. Service was quick and I was told to return in 4 days. I went to pick up my uniform around noon and was asked to come back later. Overall the additions are satisfactory, but I'm not blown away by the service. It cost me $25 (cash only) to have 3 patches sewn on the jacket and gold braids added to the pants. For the amount of people they service they seem to have a good system in place to get people in & out quickly. I probably won't return for drop off services, but they might be good for on the spot alterations though. read more

They should just call it In-and-Out Tailors, their services are faster and cheaper than the NEX (don't tell the NEX I said that). Most of their work is done same day or within 3 days with no hassle what so ever. They usually carry patches, rockers and the usual sew on uniform necessities. I've also had a few civilian pants tailored there and they've come back fitting like a glove. One thing I appreciate too is that they'll gladly tell you if they're not able to tailor something (my leather flight jacket was too thick to be sewn with their machines) and they'll offer suggestions on where you could go alternatively. I am the ultimate procrastinator and this place caters to my problem. I historically wait to the last minute before I start to think about uniforms. I had to go into Moody's Seabag, which is two doors down and I thought that I would check this place out. It isnt much to look at, but who cares about that. I gave them a pair of Navy working Uniforms that I needed patches and name tags sewn on. If I had them with me, they would have done them right then, but I thought they made them too. The nametags looked great and they were cheaper and faster than the Navy Exchange. They had everything ready the following day. And if I had waited, they would have done it right there. For them to make the nametags and sew on 8 different items, I ended up paying about $24. I was very happy with the hrs, the price, the quality, and the timeliness. I will have to now try them for alterations next. Only small issue I had is that they dont take credit cards. But with the cheaper prices, I had enough cash on me. read more

Chief Mac's services are without a doubt the best I have ever received of any dry cleaning/tailoring shop I have ever been to. With the massive volume of service members they cater to, I am perplexed as to how they are capable of offering same-day service lol.
