We reserved for the day a ten-person capacity pontoon boat at Chic's Marina a few weeks prior to our visit to Lake George. When we arrived, we found parking to be a challenge. Marina was busy since we visited in the busy summer months. The staff were truly knowledgeable and friendly staff. The boats from what I can tell in excellent working conditions and prices are reasonable for a popular resort town. Since we were staying at the Sagamore Resort, if anyone of our group was motion sick, we could easily drop them off. We had a full day of fun which included tubing, swimming, and lakeside restaurant dining. A message to others that rent a boat from Chric's Marina. Be sure that your area is attentive to all the contractual commitments before signing. We were uncertain about the weather before, the day of our rental since it was raining slightly. But fortunately, it was the best day of the week. Canceling for rainy weather may not be an option. read more

My family reserved a boat with a captain last week. The online form was extremely easy to fill out and I was contacted within minutes that my reservation was confirmed. When we got there, they had paperwork ready for us to fill out which was quick and effectively. Dan was our captain and he was wonderful. He was knowledgeable about where to go and things to do, but kept asking us what we wanted and he was happy to accommodate. The boat was beautiful and clean. I brought my 2 year old son and 3 month old daughter and Dan checked both life jackets to make sure they were coast guard approved, and had a new one for my son since his wasn't. I love that he prioritized their safety! My family and I have been going to Lake George forever and have used Chics many times - with and without a captain. We rented a pontoon from this place for island camping . They knew there was a bad storm brewing but we are not from the area so we would not know if the lake water was rough. They never mentioned anything. They allowed us to pay for the rental and go out in the storm almost not making it to the ranger station. A couple of things on the boat were barely being held together! We just made it to our campsite and at first light the following morning the water calmed enough (though still very rough) for us to get back to the marina to return the boat. when we arrived at the marina, they were informing customers the water was too rough to send them out and it would be at their own risk. we literally lost out on over $1,000. I will not be renting anything from this place and i suggest you try any other boat rental buisness. read more

We had the pleasure of doing business with Chic's Marina over the summer on a trip to Lake George. Check in, even with Covid was a breeze and they had us up and running in no time. We were able to trade up at the last minute to a larger boat which was even better. All the staff were friendly and made us feel comfortable with the features of the boat. A full day on the water full of fun and relaxation was just we needed. From start to finish our entire check in and departure were handled professionally and with courtesy. You'll pay for the fuel used during the day at check out and even that was a snap, so you even have peace of mind with that. We have a trip booked at a nearby resort for the upcoming summer so, of course we will be back. read more

Showed up Friday morning no res as it was first come first serve. The young lady got us the boat we needed w a tube for three adults and a child. She had the paperwork done and passed us off to Chase who went through boater safety and had us on the water in another five min. Park to water in 15 min on a busy summer weekend was great. They have a good system in place with their boat rentals. I'm not sure how they compare to other locations as I've only rented from here, but I feel that it's reasonable. Just wish the gas was included in the rental price. The boat we rented this time around was not the newest (broken speakers, lighter didn't work for blowing tubes up, ripped seats, wheel pulled right and had to actively hold to keep up straight) but it did the job for our bachelorette party of providing enough space for the girls and all our things and it was clean. Online booking is quick and easy, check in was quick and easy, and the way they take a second boat to come meet you at the end to dock for you is my favorite part (docking with that many other boats can be difficult) read more

We did a three-day pontoon boat rental from Chic's. The boat was a brand new 2021 model with barely over 100 hours on the engine. The anchor lines don't have chain, so it's a bit difficult to get the anchor to hold on windy days. But we enjoyed the boat and had a good time. However, after paying $1800 they stuck us with a $20 fee for "dock usage". Really?! Just add that to the rental. It's an insignificant but infuriating fee. It's like when hotels add a "resort" fee for parking your car. Just add it to the cost and don't piss off your customers. This would have been a 4-star review if it weren't for the insulting $20 charge. read more

Look at the all the negative reviews - RUN from this business. There are plenty of reputable boat rentals spots in Lake George, this one is super shady and chooses their own profitable over their customer's safety. I had reserved a boat for my family of two small children, but when a dangerous thunderstorm was forecasted (see picture) the Marina would not let me cancel. They charged me $300 just to cancel despite it being dangerous to go out on the water. When I called to negotiate a reasonable fee, the manager Kristen DePace hung up the phone on me. I rented a boat at Chic's this past weekend and it was a real good experience. Price I guess was reasonable little pricey but it was just me and the lady so it wasn't like I was splitting the fee with anyone. Filled out the paperwork and watched the six minute safety video and I was on my way. There was a nice kid working on the dock that gave us the rundown on operating procedure and what not, very helpful. The boat ran well all day and we were up and down the lake. Thought the engine might have been making a weird sound for a minute or two so I called in to ask and one of the mechanics told Me exactly what was up (prop not all the way down into the water). Came back in around 5 pm and they helped us dock and get our stuff off the boat. A few minutes later we were on our way back to the hotel. Definitely would go back the next time I want to rent a boat on Lake George. read more

This was a bad experience for us & our friends! We rented a boat for almost $700 a day to discover in the middle of our trip that it's malfunctioning. We were stopping the boat to eat and when suddenly it's started to rain we wanted to go back to the marina but the boat didn't work!!! We were calling Chic's office to let them know we are stuck in the lake with broken boat and 3 babies!!! Two - 2 years old and a 6 months old and a pregnant woman!! Guess what!? They never came to us!!!! Our boat started to get closer to the stoned&trees and we realize it's been more than 30 min since we called them. There was no other choice for us but trying to find a shelter, as staying on the boat wasn't safe . We had to go inside the water - WITH THE BABIES ! And then climb the hill to find shelter. We were so lucky there were a family who lived there who could hear us and gave us some towels and then a police boat came for us- AND NOT CHIC'S BOAT!!! When we got to the marina, no one even bothered to ask if we or our children are ok! They ran to check their boat as soon as it arrived back. We asked to talk with the manager who was extremely rude, not even listen to what we have been through and his answer was "things can happen"!!! Seriously!!!???? If it would have ended differently would he say so also?? You are talking about our life here! Our kids life!! Instead of apologizing and checking your boats before you think this legitimate to have this things happen under your responsibility??? We are definitely going to sue these guys! The last thing they care about is safety or people's life. They only care about money. We are still recovering from this experience and we are all got sick due to what we've been through. Such an amazing time here this past weekend! Prices were reasonable, boat was running smooth, and the office was incredibly helpful when we kept calling them every 20 min about something. Could not have asked for a better day. We were almost an hour late due to being lost (rookies), and they did not charge us for that extra time or gave us a hard time, which we really appreciated. Had a good experience renting overall. Chic's has their act together much more than most boat rental places I've used in the past, with an organized and friendly front office that was helpful on the phone and an easy online reservation process. Prices are quite reasonable, although you need to pay extra for a tube/wakeboard/waterskis. We rented the 115HP Carolina Skiff - I believe all of the non-pontoon boats Chic's has are this type of boat, and I wasn't much of a fan. It rides very low in the water compared to your typical power boat and is very susceptible to waves/wakes with a VERY unstable ride on a choppy day (which it was for us). Additionally, not sure if this was because of the horsepower or the hull design, but the boat wasn't powerful enough to pull a tube or a wakeboarder to a speed that would be exciting (and we only had 5 ~150lb people). If you know what you're getting into with renting a Carolina Skiff or a pontoon they are definitely a professional and well-run company. read more

Although we had a lovely day on the lake, I am disappointed about a few things: 1) When we originally booked, two of the people in our group got Covid. When we called to let them know, they told us that because we were within the 7 days of our trip that we would be losing our $300 deposit and could not reschedule. They also said we could not come with Covid, which I get, but then you can't not give me my money back. Fortunately, after going back and forth (which should have never been) they reluctantly let us reschedule. 2) After leaving the marina, we realized that our radio was not working. I called and they said "oh yeah, most of our radios do not work and you could have rented a blue tooth speaker for $20." First off, they should have told us from the get go that the radios did not work and we would have brought our own Bluetooth. Also, when you spend $640 to rent a pontoon, you would think that they would include a Bluetooth speaker. 3) I brought this to the attention of the woman at check-out and she was unprofessional and rude. I thought maybe she could comp us for the tube, which by the way is an extra $50 to rent, but that was not happening. I will never be renting with this company again. Chick's put us in a pontoon boat with no thoughts for our safety. After 30 minutes out, soaked to the skin and adrenaline in overdrive, we decided that we were in way over our heads. motored back as fast (very slowly) as possible. I explained that it was treacherous out there and would like to be charged only for the time out. Nope... charged for the full two hours. If I could give 0 stars I would. I had made a boat rental reservation and upon filling out the contract I noted a few things. The 300$ deposit and the no refund on that deposit for credit card users within 7 days. I had asked both woman I contacted that day one younger and one older, is this an updated form; what is the policy on refunds. To which the first responded saying that refunds can be issued as long as they are not within a 24 hour period. Now feeing skeptical I proceeded to ask several more times if this was accurate information. I figured maybe with COVID their rules and policies changed. After filling out the contract and submitting it I called back to verify it was received. This time an older woman picks up the phone. We talked for a short bit about the rental process and the contract itself. To which she responded the same info as the first. If it is within a 24 hour period then the refund can be issued. Time goes by and I still have 3 days before the rental to which I call to cancel and exercise my right to a refund which I was promised. Now I am being told a whole different story by another young worker. She seemed polite at first but gradually got more irritated as the conversation went on even though I was more than polite and calm. Simply asking for the issue to be escalated to a higher up. To which I was told " yea there isn't really anyone here right now" I asked if she was the acting form of management to which she responded yes. Claiming that since it was in the written agreement I am legally bound to that. I said well forms change all the time to which they are not updated with the most current standing policies and explained how not one but TWO people explained the 24 hour policy. She stated that is for the captain tours only. I said that is all fine and good but they were aware of the fact I was RENTING the boat and staring at the contract I signed still telling me their policy is 24 hours. I asked 10 TIMES!!!!! Rented a 115 HP boat for the day. A great way to see the lake. The support staff was very helpful getting us out in the morning. The tube rental is a must do and was very enjoyable. For lunch we pulled in and stopped next door at the Algonquin. While I had no issues pulling in my way, there was a salty man barking at me to sit down and steer. Claimed to be the owner of the boat. Went here for jet skiing and we had a blast. The only reason I took away a star is because they only have a 30 minute jet skiing option. By time you drive out to the area to ride, the time goes very fast. My boyfriend and I thought about going again but then would have to ride back out to the area- would've rathered just stay out there longer. Maybe they would accommodate this if we had asked earlier? Regardless, we had a blast and would definitely do it again!! After we got back we ran to the car and got tip money for the guide but couldn't find the main guide we wanted to give it so we gave it to one of the others - hopefully they share :(. read more

Have used. Chics several times over the last 5 years. They usually have competitive prices and reliable boats. We get pontoons and usually go at the end of the summer. So we wanted a sciff 90 HP boat for the day for 2 hours- The boat was falling apart. I highly recommended renting elsewhere if you have small children! The cushions in the front of boat DO NOT snap properly. NO MATTER WHAT. Our son flipped over while being held while husband was driving the boat because the cushions ARE NOT secure. I called the marina while we were out there about it and they did not care- they also gave me a hard time when I complained to the manager when we came back. Reserved a boat weeks in advance because on my first try I was told to reserve weeks in advance. Did just as they said. Come the day of the trip, I was feeling awful and living 3.5hrs away I was just not ready to make the hike. Called in to ask if they could postpone my reservation for a week later and I was told because I called too late they could not accommodate. Granted, it's on their page plainly stating that no refunds or rescheduling was possible, surely I thought $350.00+ could have some gravitas to their business. No. They said that there was nothing they could do and I had 30min left on the rental if I could make it on time. Thirty. Minutes. I understood that it was against their policy at the time, but the snarky woman that shoved it all in my face happened to be extremely rude. Obviously no one at this establishment has taken a hospitality course!!!! This is called a reservation. NOT FIRST-COME FIRST SERVED. Needless to say we STILL BOOKED! Paid in advance. Showed our license and came back 3 hrs later. We were not informed to bring our licenses a second time. The check-in attendant was so frazzled, so unfocused, so unprofessional. Not a surprise this was the end result. Not only were we willing to sign a waiver. We also said they can call hotel because they have a copy.. (same hotel who recommended them). THEY DIDN'T EVEN TRY TO MAKE IT RIGHT OR DO SOMETHING FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SAKE. Especially since THEY NOW SAW OUR KIDS TWICE AND AND DISAPPOINTED THEM TWICE!!!! We were on vacation in Lake George for 3 nights in the peak summer vacation period of August . Boating was on top on the bucket list but we had booked a last minute vacation so we did not have a booking for the boat rental. All the big names near Bolton Landing and Diamond point said that they were a booked for a week and some even for three weeks and the once near the Lake George Town were a total ripoff with twice the normal rates and only a six mile range allowed . We phoned Chic's Marina and the nice girl on the phone said they had a walk-in boat available if we came down soon . We hired their 60Hp small boat since we were only two of us . I used this place to rent a boat while visiting Lake George. The prices here are less than the rip-off rentals located right in the main town of Lake George- the rentals looked to be in better condition as well. The process was actually quick and easy and we were on the water in a rather quick amount of time. The Lake itself is gorgeous but since they rent to any Tom, Dick or Harry you kind of have to watch out for the other knuckleheads out there plus there are also these big Lake George cruise ships going back and forth. We rented the Pontoon boat for 3 day rental ($1.1k) to stay in the islands camping. I did the reservation a few days in advanced and the boat was ready when we arrived. Watched a safety video for 5 minutes and on our way ! EXCELLENT customer service since rental, to front desk to deck hand (helped us load and unload the boat with our camping gear) Gas was enough to go back and forth to the marina ( some family members arrived after we were already settled) and took a tour of the lake. I was shocked that a customer facing business like this can operate in such a rude and obnoxious fashion. There was a blatant disregard for basic humility. I would encourage any potential visitor to AVOID AT ALL COST or suffer from a similar experience. If you spend the time to read some of the reviews below, you will see a similar pattern of rude customer service and unethical business practice, THESE REVIEWS ARE 100% TRUE BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE. We had called several days before attending the establishment, asking for a two hour rental. After providing clear instructions, the operator on the other end said "to fill out the form online" and that we would receive a call back shortly thereafter to confirm. When we did not receive such call, we reached out. Apparently, we had been given incorrect instructions, but the business said we were on the hook for several hundred dollars. After we calmly explained the situation, the employees starting SCREAMING at us and DEMANDING money. It was such a strong and caustic reaction! I was able to talk to the business owner, who acknowledged his employee may have mistated instructions. However, despite understanding there was miscommunication, the business owner went ahead and STILL CHARGED US FOR SERVICE, even though we never even were provided a boat and it was rented elsewhere! My boyfriend and I came to rent jet skis this past week. Instructors were great, customer service was absolutely horrible. We had a young girl help us check in and take our information and license before jet skiing. We had such a good time on the lake that we happened to forget to pick up the license once we were done (they hold it while you are on the lake). We went for the 4 pm slot, left the place around 4:45 ish and realized we forgot to pick up the license at 5:15. They of course close at 5 so we called 3 times no response. We messaged them on Instagram no response. My boyfriend called early in the morning the next day and they so happened to just apparently lose his license. How does that happen? The girl took his license at 3:45 and they close at 5. They said they would look for it and get back to us. Never called back, we had to reach out again and still nothing. My boyfriend spoke to multiple people and the owner all so rude and disrespectful. No where to be found and they "looked everywhere". No care in the world at all, meanwhile you just lost someone's ID behind the front desk, seriously how does that even happen. At least be sorry for what happened. Maybe look at the cameras? Maybe have some repercussions for the person who lost it? Maybe give us a sincere apology and offer us something for the mistake they made. I understand we forgot the license but don't you think they would call you when they realize you left without your ID? They had our names and phone numbers. Not a well run place, don't bother coming. The staff at Chics is great. My review is solely focused on the wave runners experience on lake George. Don't do it. 1. Due to a wave runner accident years ago, very strict rules exist on lake George for wave runners and jet skis. There's only 1 designated area Chic's will take you to play around. And you're guided there in single file with 8-10 other wave runners. Escorted like children in school. 2. The area of the lake that Chics escorts you to is across the lake. So it takes 8 minutes to get there. Not fun while getting to the area in single file. 3. It's a 30 minute rental. So 8 minutes out, and 8 minutes back only allows for 15 mins of play time on the runner. 4. The lake is choppy. So it's very rough and tough to control at mid to high speeds. Two of the runners capsized on my trip. 5. Again due to strict rules by Lake George, at least 1 person on the runner must be 21 or older. No exceptions. So my 20 year old daughter who is able to drive a car with a stick, is not allowed to ride alone on a runner on George. My suggestion is to rent a boat instead. read more

Probably would have gotten more stars if the girl scheduling the banana boat rides didn't mess up. 2 in our part wanted to actually go on banana boat. The other 2 wanted to watch. We made this very clear by telling the woman we didn't want to get wet which she laughed. It was a 4 person minimum anyway. When it came to getting on there was an issue with too many people eating to watch and not ride banana boat. When the man came over to figure everything out she stated she had 4 for banana boating she didn't know. So one of us could not go and our party was split up. We did get a refund but I am all about honesty. The employee flat out lied and that doesn't sit well with me. Probably won't come back here. I'm sure there are other places just like it. read more

Reserved a $750 pontoon. $300 deposit. The weather was not good for boat day Sunday(90%rain and chance of on and off thunderstorms). Their cancellation is to cancel 7 days prior for full refund or you will lose the $300 deposit. I had asked if they will let me use the $300 towards a boat next year since I live 5 hours away and will not be coming back this summer. They said no. Monday came and I thought I'd ask them to use the deposit towards the jet ski since it was my last day there. They refused, nastily said no, when they said they would let me use it this summer. They keep trying to say that I canceled it and forfeited it. If I didnt, we would have been charged the full 750 for the boat. Again, I've rented numerous times from them, sent family and friends their way, and generated thousands in revenue for this place. They couldn't simply let me use the $300 I had put down towards the jet skis? Apparently all because I didn't call them in time sun night to tell them? Pocket the money and basically say good riddance to such a loyal customer? I already have my aunt canceling her boat in august. Telling all my family and friends to AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and they tried telling me their policy is the same at places across the lake, false, we called a company, and they allow carry over for next year. There's a reason they are 3.9 and all other boat rental places in Lake George are 4.5ish and higher. Also I dug deeper as I am absolutely disgusted. They are far away the most expensive. I rented a boat on 6/18/2023. Horrible weather but my 10 year old son and I showed-up to try to make the best of it. I barely got the boat off the dock and into the lake. Immediately, I realized I had no control over the boat. After 20 MINUTES on the boat, I was charged $550!!This is the cost for an entire rental day!! The wind was blowing the boat left and right, waves were splashing all over the driver's side, and the water was so choppy that I couldn't go any faster than 5 miles an hour. Turned the boat around and waited for help from their staff to get the boat in. I talked with the managers Rory and Kristin DePace and they couldn't be bothered. I asked them to work with me, charge me a couple hundred bucks for an hour, but they refused any refund because this is their "policy" and I signed paperwork agreeing to it.
