Nice greenage for an early spring golf course.
    Stuart S.

Never realized just how popular this course was, since it on the other side of the northern OTP. Close to Lake Lanier. Upon entry for our 11:45 tee off (played with 4 threesomes) the clubhouse was a welcome sight to get nestled and getting some libations for the course. They have an outdoor makeshift grill with drinks and other snacks for those who need to grab and go "on the turn" We played the MILL and the Villages courses. This club has 3 nine hole courses.(27 holes). Mill course opened up to a par 5 which is a good start. Since it was early spring the foliage really came out and it's was a gosh darned beautiful day. 75 to 80 degrees, slight winds, most of the fairways were in decent shape. Some tee boxes needed some work and as well of some fairways, the greens were fast in the morning but surprisingly slowed down quite a bit as the day wore on. This goof course is defiantly challenging but user friendly. I think all levels of golfers would enjoy this.

I rarely venture too far away from Atlanta for a round of golf. This course is definitely worth the 40 minute drive. This course is amazing. From tee box to green, the course conditions are impressive. You have to give kudos to the crew for striping the fairways, rolling the greens, keeping everything lush, green and golf ready. Definitely well staffed, several marshalls on patrol, and the cart girl came around at least 5-6 times. I have never seen the cart girl twice in my other tracks but this place knows hospitality. I jumped into the club at the turn and I got my hotdog and drink , in and out in less than 3 minutes. For the golfers out there, know that the fairways are wide and bomb ready. Channel your inner Bubba and send that little white ball that you love and hate screaming down that pretty fairway. Mind the greens tho.. they aren't the fastest , so don't baby that putt.

TL:DR - If you're an avid Atlanta area golfer, you MUST play Chicopee Woods. Our group of three played the Village and Mill courses on a brilliant late September Saturday. Both 9's were excellent and from the looks of what we saw, the third 9 on the property (the School course) is just as good. For sure, the 9th green on that course, which you can walk to from the clubhouse, is fantastic-looking. - Superb greens - smooth, flawless, fast and varied contour. - Superb fairways - hard to find a bad lie in the short grass, not many tight lies. - Very good bunkers - not hard-packed like at many courses. There was one fairway bunker that was in poor shape, an anomaly. - The course has a really nice layout with lots of hills and slopes. Not many water hazards but water is in play on a few holes. Very scenic. - Good beverage cart service. She came around frequently. - Nice clubhouse, and the folks in the pro shop are a hoot. Chicopee Woods is not the toughest test of golf but it's certainly challenging enough for most handicappers to enjoy. We played the white tees, so it only gets tougher from the back. It's a very fair course design. You'll be rewarded for good shots and suffer a fair penalty for poor ones. I'm annoyed when I hit what I think is a great shot only to find ball rolled into some unseen hazard I was unaware of. This is the nicest course I've played in the Atlanta Metro area with the possible exception of Bear's Best. Coupled with the relatively inexpensive greens fee, it easily rates 5 stars. And if you think I dole 5 stars out to just any golf course I play, check out my other reviews.

The course was in good shape player just need to fix ball marks on the part 3s. The Marshall was super nice as well as the cart lady. No complaints here.

A very nice golf course located in the southern part of Gainesville, GA (right off of the expressway). They have Three 9 hole courses, which are pretty challenging courses. If you choose to play 18, you'd get assigned 2 of those 3 courses. The course is priced relatively nice, whereas a 'twilight game' starts at 4pm, and is only $22.00 for 9 holes. Inside, they have a pro shop, and a food cafe that serves burgers, sandwiches, sodas, beers and all are priced well. The golf courses are well manicured and you don't have any dead grass or garbage laying out on the courses. The rangers drive around quite a bit and help speed the play around. "Coach", one of the course rangers, is a expert gunshooter, and an amazing golfer. At various times on the course, he has helped me with my swing and gave me some pointers as to why I was not hitting as well as I could have been. The course is visable from the expressway (985), and as you drive by, you can see how well it is maintained. During bad weather, they cover up the greens. During extremely hot weather, they water it well to keep the grass green. They mow the course well, and overall, take very good care of the course. The holes are moved often enough to make the course challenging and feel like you are playing a different course every time. The golf carts that are used are electric and have great power behind them, enough to get up some of those big hills. They are always clean and well maintained. There is a 90 degree rule in effect (most of the time), so that helps maintain the course as well. For a local 9 hole course, they run it well, like a well oiled machine!

If I gave Country Land Golf Course three stars (by the hair of its chinny chin chin, by the way),…read morethen I have to give neighbor Hampton Golf Village four stars. It would be an injustice, otherwise. It took me over 16 years to make it back out here. I'd completely forgotten everything about this course, so revisiting it was like playing a new course again. I think I first played this course circa 2001-02. However, unlike my previous round here in 2005, which I had recorded for handicap purposes at the time, I have no evidence of that first round. Hampton Golf Village opened in 2000. Off the top of my head, I can't think of many public or semi-private 18-hole courses in metro Atlanta that opened in the 2000s or later. Echelon and The Frog, two of my favorites (especially The Frog), come to mind. For most metro Atlantans, unless you live in/around Alpharetta and north, Hampton Golf Village in Cumming is a hike. From my home in Midtown, in light traffic, this course was a solid 50-minute drive each way. Is the drive worth it? Sure, every once in a while, I wouldn't mind playing this course. However, in the same price tier, there are plenty of other courses I'd rather play that are within a 50-minute drive of my home. Unlike Country Land, though, Hampton Golf Village is "worthy" of being put in my golf rotation. We were charged $64 per person for our weekend morning tee time. I also paid $4.67 for a small bucket of range balls. After 7% tax, the total was $73.48 for a round and range balls. For the quality of course, service, clubhouse, and amenities, I thought this was "par for the course" and reasonable. Medium and large buckets of range balls were available too. For the range, you could either pay in the clubhouse where they give you a pin number or swipe your card at the range ball dispenser. During my visit, the range was mats only. The range balls were a grab bag of range ball brands. In general, the balls were pretty worn out and are probably due for replacement soon (if it hasn't happened already). There was a large practice putting green (good size) and a separate chipping green. There is not a practice bunker. If you're booking a tee time here, I would call the golf shop to book. If you book online via Hampton Golf Village's website, you'll have to pay a nonrefundable fee. When I looked, the nonrefundable fee was $2.49 per golfer. So yeah, definitely call to book and that way, you won't be charged any booking or convenience fee. Scott took my reservation over the phone and he was nice. Shaun checked us in. Good service from those guys. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the food and beverage cart girl. Out of the hundreds of rounds I've played in my lifetime, I can't say I've ever encountered a cart girl like the one I last had here. She had a bad attitude and didn't seem to be interested in her job. Maybe she was having a bad day and/or getting turned down by group after group. Some times she drove by, literally paid no attention to us, and kept on trucking. After the first time that happened, we didn't want to buy anything from her for the rest of the round. I realize this was probably a one-off experience, but I had to mention it. The clubhouse has a spacious dining room as well as an upper level patio that overlooks part of the 18th hole, the pond ("Reservoir 59") in the distance, practice green, and driving range. The golf shop is small, but gets the job done. The men's restroom - and clubhouse, in general - have a "nicer" feel to it, but this is by no means a fancy country club or anything like that. I don't think there are any locker rooms. I think the cart barn is underneath the clubhouse. During our visit, the cart fleet consisted of basic Yamaha EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) carts. They did have simple GPS old-school LCD screens attached to the steering columns. They provided accurate front, middle, and back yardage distances to greens, so that was definitely a plus. As for the course itself, I thought the layout/design and fun factor were decent. This is a very hilly course with lots of bridges, some neighborhood snaking (but not much), and zero water hazards. The lack of water contributes to this not being the most scenic course, but there are a few nice mountain/hill views and the tree-lined Hampton Park Drive, that runs parallel to hole 11, is beautiful too. The par is 71 with yardage and rating/slope 6,903 yards and 72.8/137 from the tips. We played from the whites: 6,051 yards, 67.9/128. The conditions were fair for a daily fee course in this price tier. There were lots of ball marks on the greens, which was disappointing. Some of the tee boxes were pretty beat up, but the fairways and bunkers were in good shape, overall. There were no sand bottles on the carts, but there were sand buckets with shovels on the par-3 tee boxes (which probably most golfers here do not use; I did). On a busy Sunday with a stacked tee sheet, our pace of play was brisk at 4 hours 20 minutes.

Unacceptable Customer Service - Rude, Discriminatory Behavior…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. I had the absolute worst customer service experience at Lanier Legacy Golf Club, and it was nothing short of humiliating and infuriating. On March 8th, I booked a 3:00 PM tee time for my wife and her sister. Due to heavy rain, I called the pro shop, and a kind and professional male staff member issued an 18-hole rain check, which I appreciated. However, when I called today to use that rain check, I was met with the most unprofessional, rude, and outright hostile treatment from a staff member named Leah Stephenson (spelling may be incorrect). From the moment she picked up the phone, she was aggressive, dismissive, and condescending. She: Constantly interrupted me while I was speaking. Raised her voice at me for absolutely no reason. Refused to listen or assist me properly and instead transferred my call without helping. Treated me with an attitude that felt blatantly discriminatory. It's truly disgusting that a golf course with such a good reputation allows this kind of horrible customer service to take place. I couldn't help but feel that I was treated this way because I am Asian and an international guest. This was my first experience with this level of rudeness and discrimination since moving to Atlanta, and I am still in shock that a business like this allows such behavior to continue unchecked. If Lanier Legacy Golf Club actually cares about its reputation, they need to: Implement serious customer service training so this NEVER happens again. Ensure all guests--regardless of nationality--are treated with basic human decency. I will make sure that everyone I know hears about this disgraceful experience. I will also be reporting this incident to management and any relevant authorities to ensure this club is held accountable for discriminatory and unprofessional practices. Avoid this place if you expect even the bare minimum of respect. If you're not a local, prepare to be treated as if you don't belong.

I don't know how many people use yelp to find a golf course but Lanier Islands Legacy golf course…read moreis definitely one of the best courses in GA. I absolutely love this course. The quality of the course, staff, practice facility, carts, food is A1. First off, I ain't gonna lie it's expensive! But good news is you do get range balls with your greens fees and unlimited snacks/ soft drinks!!!(my favorite). Yes I said unlimited. I'm sure if you go in there and fill bags up with stuff they might say something but you get it. Second off, driving range and putting green = phenomenal. Third off and most important , the course..... is so beautiful. I'm a serious golfer (4 handicap) so my feelings might be different than others. The actual layout of the course is pretty difficult but the scenery is grand. In order to score great on this course you do have to play smart and have a strategy. I suggest to pay attention to everything before swinging! Keep in mind the greens are FAST. Last suggestion, if you're not the best golfer bring lots of balls because there is a ton of water on this course and get some practice in before hand! If you truly play the course a lot of shots will require you to get the ball in the air. Fourth. Besides the snacks and the absolutely beautiful golf course, I LOVE the way they start you out. Basically most courses just give you the keys to the cart and tell you to get. Here, the first hole is a distance away from the clubhouse so when the starter feels as if the tee box is cleared he will explain the course / rules with your group, give you the keys to the cart, and tell you to get on with it. And I absolutely loveeeeee that. It allows your group to be at the tee box without anyone causing distractions.Love it!!! Last time we were out here the course was quite backed up. The Marshall was constantly trying to get the people in front of us moving and he kept stopping by to apologize to us. The quality of service at Lanier is awesome. They truly make you feel special and that's why I love going back and throwing my money at them. This is by far my favorite course I've ever played at in GA and other states. I hope the review was helpful for the one person that might read this ! If you go play, good luck!

While I wasn't a fan of the course layout, the conditioning wasn't bad and the value was good ($37 for an afternoon weekend tee time). Also, the staff was friendly, from our starter to the cart boys. If you go into Country Land with tempered expectations, you can have an enjoyable round here. If you've played here before, then you'll have a much better idea of what to expect, which helps. One of my buddies can attest to that. I played here with him. For him, it was his third visit. For me, my first. We've played golf together at dozens of courses all over metro Atlanta. He described Country Land to me as an "acquired taste." He enjoyed it more his third time around than his first two times. We think the yardages listed on the scorecard and hole markers are wrong and thus, the ratings/slopes on the scorecard are probably off too. A couple of examples include holes 1 and 4. No. 1 is listed at 315 yards from the blue tees, but it can't be more than about 275. No. 4 is listed at 460, but it can't be longer than 380. And so on. My friend heard the course was modified at one point, so maybe the yardages were for the original layout. There are three sets of tees: blue, white, red. The scorecard says the blues (tips) measure 6,025 yards with a rating/slope of 67.2/112. I played from the whites: 5,510 yards, 65.6/117. Not often I see a higher slope for the whites than I do the blues. Regardless, this is supposed to be a relatively easy course. The course is a par 70 or 69 depending on which tees you play from. Par 70 from the blues and whites and 69 from the reds. Hole 6 is a par 5 from the blues/whites (540/520) and par 4 from the reds (365). On paper, I think this course is more challenging than other courses I've played at similar yardages and ratings/slopes and with similar terrain. In my opinion, a few reasons why are: 1. The course has a tight, compact layout. It feels like they had to shoehorn all 18 in, so the fairways are narrow and it's easier to hit shots into other holes. I think RiverPines in Johns Creek is a great example of a "compact" par 70 course that has just enough space between holes, along with wide fairways. You don't get that here at Country Land. 2. The course is exceptionally hilly and less forgiving with less opportunities for good lies in the fairways compared to similar courses. Don't get me wrong - I'm well aware that hilly courses are the norm in Georgia and the South. They're all I mainly play on. However, Country Land is one of those courses where you'll find yourself on uneven ground and/or a sidehill lie more often than other hilly courses. Me sucking at golf has something to do with it, of course, but other hilly courses at least have bigger, more receptive, and flat landing areas. I found it more difficult to find a good lie. Also, part of that might have had to do with it being my first time playing here and being unfamiliar with the layout. 3. This course has an above-average amount of blind shots, not only off the tee, but approach shots into greens too. Blind shots are one of my golf pet peeves. Obviously, blind shots aren't as bad if you're familiar with a course, but if it's your first time, it's not ideal. Regarding #1 above, due to the compact nature and, at times, awkward nature of the course layout, I think there is a greater chance of getting hit by wayward tee shots here. Regarding #3, there's at least one hole - No. 4, I believe - where you can get hit by the group behind you because the drive landing area is blind, down a hill. Country Land doesn't have any sort of "safe to tee off" notification system like other courses. Another awkward thing / quirk about the layout is having to drive on the property's main driveway twice, to get to the tee boxes for holes 2 and 10. While not a big deal, again, it's just not ideal and contributes to the "shoehorned" feel of the layout. Some of the tee boxes were in terrible shape, such as No. 5, a par 3 over water. That tee box was mostly dirt/sand. The greens were mostly in OK shape, at best , though they had their rough patches as well. Most notably, the 12th green had some sand-filled divots like those you'd see on a fairway (!). Speaking of which, this course has no sand bottles. Was it not in the budget or do people not use them or what? I think sand bottles are a must at any course for proper care and maintenance. Country Land has some great views, particularly when you're at high points of elevation. Examples include the 9th and 18th greens near the clubhouse. There are also some scenic pond views around 5, 6, 12, 17, and 18. It's important to note there is no driving range, only a practice putting green and I think a practice chipping green. The clubhouse has a grill with indoor and outdoor seating. There was food and beverage cart service. The carts were gas-powered E-Z-GO carts in decent shape.
