I am a brand new golfer, and have been incredibly pleased with how quickly I've developed under Jun's direction. I was apprehensive when I began taking lessons because I was intimidated with the complexity of the game, but Jun started with the basics and broke everything down so I could understand what the swing is supposed to look like. The best part about Baraban's is that all of the motions are videoed while you practice, and the instructor can play each swing back on the monitor so you see what you did right or wrong....and can show you what needs to be corrected. I can't imagine hitting balls on the range and just guessing what needs to be fixed if something isn't working right. I've found Baraban's Academy to be very affordable as well - they sell packages of lessons which work well for my situation. They also have club fittings, and many other services. An all around 5 star experience!!

Whether you're a veteran golfer or someone looking to get into the game, PGA Tour Superstore has…read moreeverything you need (and don't need). This is a big box retailer with multiple locations across the country. We're lucky enough to have three in Georgia, all of which are located in suburbs north of Atlanta, each roughly 30+ minutes from the city. I've been to all three PGA Tour Superstore locations in Georgia: this one in Lawrenceville, Kennesaw (https://www.yelp.com/biz/pga-tour-superstore-kennesaw), and Roswell (https://www.yelp.com/biz/pga-tour-superstore-roswell). I even used to go to the one in Buckhead, now closed (https://www.yelp.com/biz/pga-tour-superstore-atlanta). As this is a chain, all of the stores are very similar. They sell everything from the latest golf equipment and sportswear to swing analysis, lessons, and club repair. These stores are truly one-stop shops for all things golf. If you're a golf enthusiast and it's your first time, you'll feel like a kid in a candy store. This location in Lawrenceville is located just off I-85. If traveling northbound from the city, you'll take exit 105 (SR 120 - Duluth, Lawrenceville). If traveling southbound, you'll take exit 107 (SR 120 to SR 316 east / Boggs Road - Duluth, Lawrenceville). It's close to Sugarloaf Mills (shopping mall) and TPC Sugarloaf (one of the best golf courses in metro Atlanta). Compared to the PGA Tour Superstore locations in Kennesaw and Roswell, I believe this location is the smallest. That's okay though because they still have everything the other locations have including a putting green to try out putters and hitting bays with simulators and shot trackers to demo clubs and do custom club fittings. I had a great experience at this store. I had my entire set regripped at the Kennesaw location. I went out and played a round and noticed the grips on three of my clubs (5-iron, 9-iron, and pitching wedge) weren't installed correctly. The grips weren't fully pushed down the shafts so there was play (bending) at the top of the grips. It was annoying and particularly bad on my pitching wedge. Since I happened to be up in Duluth (near Lawrenceville) at the time, I decided to get the incorrectly-installed grips replaced at this location. I called the Kennesaw location to confirm that I could get these grips replaced at another PGA Tour Superstore location and they confirmed I could. Ideally, I would have taken these grips back to the Kennesaw location so they could see what they did wrong, but it was out of the way for me. I walked into this store, immediately to the club repair counter, and explained what happened. I handed my clubs to the club repair supervisor and he inspected them. As he bent the grip back at the top of my pitching wedge, his eyes widened and he said, "Yep, that's bad." He took a quick look at my receipt from the Kennesaw store and approved his subordinate to regrip my clubs at no cost. He told me it would take about 20 minutes and his estimate was correct. As a walk-in customer on a Sunday morning, my clubs were ready in only 20 minutes and they were regripped properly. I played the following weekend and never hit my 5-iron better. Seriously! (Though also perhaps a coincidence.) While waiting for my clubs to be regripped, I checked out some of the latest Honma and TaylorMade drivers as well as some new putter models. I also looked around in the apparel section and noticed the store carries the latest line of Under Armour golf shorts (Showdown style) which I had been ordering for myself online. I like that they carry current lines with modern fits.

Another year, another Cadillac Innovation Golf Clinic. I was invited again this year and the…read moreclinic took place yesterday at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta. Last year, the clinic took place at TPC Sugarloaf in Duluth. This year's Tour pro instructor was 2008 Masters champ, Trevor Immelman. The crowd seemed bigger this year. There were three sessions we could sign up for, two in the morning and one in the early afternoon. Complimentary breakfast and lunch were provided, buffet-style, underneath large white tents outside the back of the clubhouse. There were so many people that most of us had to park at an auxiliary lot off-site on Windward Concourse and be shuttled over to the clubhouse. Registration took a bit longer this year since there were more people and since we came in droves to the registration stations. The walking clinic with Trevor Immelman and David Leadbetter took place on the 9th hole, about 100 yards or so out. Immelman walked us through many different aspects of the game from setup and alignment to grip, aim, and strategy. Like just about any Tour pro, all of his shots seemed effortless. He even tried to do some trick approach shots by bouncing them off the stone wall behind the green. This got a good laugh out of the crowd, in addition to Leadbetter's many quips. One example is when Leadbetter chose a random person out of the gallery to show us his swing. After showing us his not-so-good-looking swing and telling Leadbetter he was a 12 handicap, Leadbetter said, "you must be one hell of a putter to be a 12 handicap!" Immelman and Leadbetter then walked us through bunker shots, shots from just off the green, and putting. The entire formal instructional session went well over the allotted 1-hour time frame -- it probably ran 1.5 hours. It was a great and very informative, enlightening, and useful lesson. After presentation was over, we separated into smaller groups and went through a series of 5 "clinics." They were: 1. Driving - with video swing analysis 2. Learning - about the latest Cadillac vehicles (they were on-site) 3. Hybrids - learning about and hitting hybrid irons 4. Putting - putting with various putters including belly putters 5. Chipping - chipping from sidehill lies onto a green All golf clubs and balls were provided by Callaway (drivers, hybrids, wedges) and Odyssey (putters). All the latest model Cadillacs were also available for test drive. The hybrid, putting, and chipping stations were manned by a local golf club pros who provided additional instruction. We all got to take swings, so a lot of personalized advice was provided. Overall, it was another very fun-filled and well-planned day on another great golf course in Georgia. I look forward to attending more Cadillac Innovation Golf Clinics as long as they keep inviting me. Thanks, Trevor Immelman, David Leadbetter, Callaway, Odyssey, Cadillac, and the Golf Club of Georgia.
