Soon after this project I needed new stairs put in for my main entrance onto my deck. The stairs I had were old and not built properly. Allen came in and took the existing stairs out, and not only built structurally sound new stairs but added additional steps to make it easier to go up and down. I rely on Boss Construction for all my projects, whether big (building the screen house and stairs and installing flooring) or small (painting, installing doorknobs, and hanging things around the house). The men are so highly skilled. We continue to be happy with our beautiful deck. Therefore, we asked Ruy to install a Timberteck stair rail at our front doors, which also has withstood the test of time. We'd been concerned that installments like this would compromise the brick, whereby requiring a total rebuild, but a rebuild wasn't necessary. He also advise us on an easy and effective fix to divert water from flowing from the gutter and freezing to ice on those brick steps in winter. Based on the outcome of these projects, and our experience in their progression, we highly recommend this company.

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. Would take weeks and, more than once, even months…read moreto get them to come back and do any work (see screenshots of my text interactions with them -- note the dates). They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

Design was the areas I was most nervous about and I think that was the part they did best- so many great suggestions for "problem" areas that I was unsure what to do with. They were very patient with me when I asked for numerous drawings of the layout before I was able to decide on the final version. I had a project manager (Dave) who was an excellent communicator. He was there when he said he would be and texting me regularly with needed updates. He was always ready to answer any questions I had as the project progressed. I found him extremely capable of fixing construction issue and then he also coordinated the more specialty workers (electrical, tile, etc) to make sure everything was done in order and the project moved along. Also of importance to me is that they respected my home. They put plastic down to protect the floors and cleaned up debris regularly. They did their best not to impact the rest of my home despite them doing a master bath on the second floor. My only complaints were that the project took longer than they promised. Honestly, mostly not their fault because it was a terrible winter and my project was Jan- April. Home renovations are very emotionally fatiguing so when it dragged out a few extra weeks, I was ready to lose my mind. I would highly recommend them and plan to have them do our kids bathroom in the near future. I am quite surprised by the negative reviews here. My project was completed in 2018 and some of these reviews seem to be older.

The biggest centerpiece of the job being a full kitchen/dining room renovation, but also including fixing up a porch, half-bathroom, and installing a new custom-sized basement exterior door. Jim and his crew were great to work with. He was a very thoughtful planner, always thinking of little things to make our designs better (ex: "What if we extended the wainscoting around the corner to carry the flow?" and "We should use a larger handle on this cabinet so that it doesn't put stress on the wood.") He definitely has an eye for detail. He ran a tight ship, making sure that his crew cleaned up at the end of the day and organized all of their tools, as we were living in the house during the project and the last thing we wanted was a messy and hazardous area.
