Randy was the bartender and he was awesome. They have a small food menu - frozen pizzas, sandwiches, and burgers. I knew I was going to have trouble finding anything vegetarian in a small town in Montana, but Randy whipped up the BEST makeshift grilled cheese and veggies on a hoagie and it was SO good. My partner got a burger and said it was delicious. Randy really put his heart and soul into that burger & grilled cheese, all well serving a decently full bar and slinging drinks.

I took my nieces (10, 11, and 15 years,) my mother (63,) and my grandmother (88.) We stayed in cabin two. We all absolutely loved it. It's situated conveniently between Nevada City and Virginia City. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The "breakfast" that is promised at every B&B was an actual breakfast (as opposed to a muffin or granola bar.) They brought it out and served us a hearty meal as we sat in the shade on the lawn. They even had a cute little rock shop inside, so the girls could get some geodes, crystals, and fossils as souvenirs. I would definitely recommend it, especially for families. It was like having our own tiny apartment to ourselves. It was cheaper than getting rooms enough for the six of us at a chain hotel. It was also cleaner, they had real soap in the bathroom, and they were much less stingy with the towels. It was a great experience.

When booking, pay attention to the room type-some of the rooms come with a private bath, others have a shared bathroom. There's a lovely seating area and coffee in the morning so you can mingle and chit chat with the other guests. After all, you probably bumped into them in your bathrobe on the way to the bathroom anyway. Might as well have a cup of coffee together!

Well then this is a historic hotel, located in the historic Virginia City of Montana,, where originally there probably was no indoor plumbing! So who knows what a historic standard room meant? This standard room without bathroom looked to be about 12' x 12', with two twin beds, one night stand, and wash stand nicely crammed into it. Perhaps there was room enough for two adults if they were munchkins who had only the clothes on their backs! So I asked Ronnie if there were any rooms with a shared bed with private bathroom. She immediately offered my sister and me a room (without additional fee) with a full bed, two night stands, an old-fashioned vanity, chair, and very small closet that had a private bathroom. While a vast improvement, there was still only enough room to walk in the room after we piled our suitcases on the vanity and luggage rack. My sister reported that her side of the bed sagged, probably due to previous guests sitting on the bed while dressing since there was little else to sit on. This room had so little walking space that we felt even the housekeeper wouldn't be able to clean our room without knocking over our preecariously-balanced belongings. With only one other party, I really don't understand why we weren't offered what we had reserved, let alone a free upgrade, in the first place. We would not stay here again.

If you need a drink, grab one at the bar inside, and bring it to the pool. The hotel bar will provide you plastic ware safe for the pool. The hotel also provides a nice continental breakfast that is included in the stay- on the breakfast bar there was cereal, yogurt, breads, waffles, and a variety of other breakfast items. The breakfast even included cold brew- fancy! Also the hotel features a restaurant and a separate bar. The restaurant features a full menu and bar. And the bar provides special cocktails, local beer and more. Plus you can get food at the bar too. The lobby is nice furnished. The lobby contains a beautiful fireplace and seating. Plus there is always coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby to enjoy. Plenty of parking in front of the hotel. Plus in the winter time, the hotel has shuttle service to the ski resort.
