This place is the only chicken place in town other than KFC. And that is the only reason it ever gets any business. The chicken is all but tasteless. It's as if the kitchen takes chicken straight from the freezer to the batter box and has no salt, pepper or any spices. It is VERY bland and quite expensive. I Live fried chicken but if I pay good money, I expect tasty flavorful food. I do live chicken livers and this is the only place that sells them within about 60 miles from me. But, they are so bland that I don't order them because they are tasteless. read more

Wow. Took 5 minutes to take a phone call.. it rang like 9 times before I got an answer. On top of that they took 15 minutes before I was even able to order in the drive through... and it already takes that long to get my food since I order the fish. ON TOP OF THAT the lady working the drive through on 3/15/2021 SLAMMED the door window closed while I was trying to ask for tarter sauce. Not as good as Popeye's as the chicken is rather bland, but still pretty good for fast food chicken. Certainly not a place to eat at regularly as I'm pretty sure they even fry the water here and I probably now have diabetes after consuming the vat of sweet tea they give you, but for a quick tasty meal you could certainly do worse when passing through Jacksonville. Pretty much what every other review says. 30 minute wait and then the report of an error and asked wait another 20 minutes over eight pieces of chicken. This food was so terrible we fed the deer on HWY 69 with it. Hopefully they enjoy cardboard chicken or liver chicken. Not exactly sure what's considered "chicken." My mom also had a roll. It wasn't too bad, don't really know how you could mess up a frozen roll unless you burn it. Seeing as we were starving at least that was edible. The mashed potatoes & gravy were just gravy. I think we could have used it to suffocate the chickens flavor. We will never return to this place. (Side note, it's not affordable.) read more

My husband and I were traveling and decided to stop at chicken express for chicken lives. The young man behind the counter was so friendly and even ask us if we would like a senior discount. I think his name was Clemente. The restaurant was so clean and everyone there was very friendly. I felt like we were at home. The chicken livers were delicious as well as the Cole slaw and fried okra. Will definitely recommend eating here. read more

The food is fine for Fast food, however the customer service and wait times are ridiculous. We enjoy the chicken and have limited options in town. I only recommend if you have time to kill and don't mind waiting forever and you don't mind dealing bad customer service. I hope they can get proper management that Reinforces quality customer service. I don't mind waiting when the staff actually cares for you time and apologizes. I left a one star review for Chicken Express a little over a year ago. My disappointment last year was the constant delays in cook time and lack of customer service. Again, I tried to order my elusive fish dinner only to be told to that they didn't have any fish and it would be a while. Again, I asked for a refund. I will say the refund was issued promptly and with a smile. So the moral of the story, I always feel like they are happier to see me go rather then to provide quality service when I arrive. read more

Always good food but service is not good during lunch. I visited ay lunch today, 4-18-17, and waiting at counter when forst in line for about 5 minutes before someone coming to the counter and taking my order. The clerk did not seem tocare whether I was there or not. She did not greet me, and did not thank me. She probably needs coaching or to work away from customers. Always hit or miss here. The strips are good, most of the time. I always tell them to cook me fresh Chicken Livers. The fries are uniquely good!!! and the tea will send you into sugar shock. The fish, well it's ok, and the Fried pickles are great!!! read more

Workers could not get the order right, simple order nothing special to it. Were very rude when trying to correct order. Very slow, 20 minutes and was still waiting on order. My family stopped there while passing through town. The staff was friendly and our meals were fresh and hot. I'm hooked on CX unsweetened iced tea. We as a family have eaten at several chicken express so it came as quite an surprise when ordering chicken strips that you must now pay for each individual dipping sauce for them. I would totally understand a limit of so many per order of strips but having to pay for each one is ridiculous. The only one that has ever tried to charge us for them is the one in Jacksonville, I am not sure if there a franchised chain or not. Just wanting to give everyone else a heads up.
