The guy behind the counter barely looked at me while he was serving, let alone talk. I understand that they are catering to people stumbling out of Koko but there's no reason not to smile. It wasn't busy and you can understand why. The two piece meal that I had was small and predictably dry. At about £5 it's similar in price to KFC but not as good (and I'm not lauding the colonel there). Bottom line, if you've had a few beers and are hungry, brave the queue in Woody Grill, you'll regret coming here.

On your journey home from work when you get off the tube, it can be all too easy to find yourself ordering a cheap basic chicken burger to tie you over. We all know fried chicken isn't good for you so I won't make claims that it is. If you need a quick snack or you cannot afford food with some nutrients in then this place is great. It is greasy, tasty, artery clogging comfort food that hardly makes a dent in your wallet.

It was pretty quiet for a sunday which was good for us. We got a large booth which was perfect, I hate sitting on small cramped tables. I went for the buffalo wings, side of fries and black cherry float. My friend got the green chilli nacho burger. The buffalo wings are the best thing on the menu!!! Succulent, juicy, falls off the bone real easily, the buffalo sauce is what makes it even more special! The fries are a bit meh, but who cares when the chicken is just too good!!! The black cherry float was amazing, like a milkshake but lighter if that makes sense. True cherry taste, i need another! My friend really enjoyed her green chilli nacho burger, it was humengous but definitely worth it, she polished off her plate. The service was top notch, even got extra buffalo sauce on the house. It has become my new favourite place :)

Nando's are ubiquitous here; I swear I saw almost as many of them as Pret A Mangers, which is a good problem to have. I had the half chicken combo, adding the superfood (salad) and minty peas; he had the chicken thighs combo with chips and rice. Service is on-point here, so friendly. They brought out the food to our table and it looked as good as I remembered. I ordered the Extra Hot spice level "Like tackling a ferociously fiery dragon" it said, but the dragon was sleepy that day. Condiments to the rescue! NINE condiments on the table. I preferred the Extra Hot and Lemon & Herb sauces but you know I tried them all ;)

Yet trundling down Kentish Town Road today I noticed the swishiest, cleanest and most upmarket fried chicken shop I have ever seen. Take a bow Sam's. I almost wanted to smarten up my appearance to go in. Looking a little like a classic McDonalds establishment, it was light years away from the grotty, sticky outlets I frequent when I've only got £2.50 in my wallet. It is amazing how smart décor can affect the mindset of a customer. I convinced myself that fried chicken was suddenly healthy. All that saturated fat suddenly didn't matter. I had to purchase something. The shock factor continued. It was incredibly cheap. How about this? Two chicken fillet burgers, four pieces of chicken and two lots of fries for... (I must pause here for effect... Just a little more! All the above came to a credit crunch defying £5.99. AWESOME! This smart outlet, with ludicrously cheap prices, serving the same old stroke inducing but oh so good greasy chicken we all love, is a winner.

The shop itself is light, clean and modern and while the chicken won't win any awards, it is passable and ludicrously cheap. This is a great place to visit pre or post a gig at the HMV forum, or for when that post work drink turned into five. I have no doubt I'll be asking Sam to sort me out again very soon.
