Today I ordered the Ekōlu 3-choice plate through Uber Eats with katsu chicken, pulehu chicken, and more katsu because...katsu is my favorite. I did manage to completely misunderstand the side-selection process. I knew the meal normally came with 3 scoops of white rice and a side, so when I selected "SUB - Macaroni Salad," common sense probably should've told me that meant substituting the rice for macaroni salad. Greedy me, however, thought I was replacing ONE scoop and would still get the other two. Nope. I picked up my order to find NO rice and enough macaroni salad to last me through the week lol. Completely my mistake, but thankfully I checked before leaving! I was also surprised not to see the usual cabbage underneath the meat. I know they had previously stopped serving it because of the produce recall, but since that recall has been lifted, I asked about that too. Since I was still there and hadn't touched my food, I explained my rice/mac salad misunderstanding and asked if I could swap some of the macaroni for rice and get some cabbage. Per usual, the customer service at this location was great. They were friendly and accommodating, told me not to worry about it, and simply gave me the rice and cabbage on the side. I really appreciated that, especially since the ordering mistake was mine. Now, THE FOOD. The katsu chicken has always been my favorite, but today I tried the pulehu chicken for the first time, and I'm SO glad I did. It is GOOD! The best way I can describe it is barbecue chicken without the barbecue sauce--smoky, seasoned, grilled flavor that honestly doesn't need sauce at all. I'm officially hooked. Restaurant is always clean, Great food and consistently friendly customer service keep me coming back--and now I've found a new favorite in the pulehu chicken. Next time, though, I'll be keeping my rice and leaving well enough alone.

No graciousness, no kindness. I did not feel welcome to be there. I placed my to go order on the app I went in at the appropriate time and they did not have my order. They had to search for it and then finally after we went through and I showed the order she took it over to the service line where they promptly informed me it would be 20 minutes to make the chicken. I wasn't in a big hurry and the woman who was in the line doing the serving was also very kind and had a nice smile and she make me feel like it was going to be taken care of properly so I waited. You can also tell the person working The Grill on the line was experienced. After about 25 minutes, my food did come out, but my order was wrong. I paid for a substitute to get the salad. I had to go back in and let them know. I was missing the salad. The same girl at the register then handed me a salad with the blue cheese dressing and walked in the opposite direction. I don't recall hearing an apology or anything kind or come back welcoming. Just the opposite. The salad that she handed me was disgusting! It was about halfway full, and most of the lettuce was brown and wilted. there were no carrots. There were no tomatoes. It was just sad. It looked like it had been served and then put back. So I'm sitting in my car and looked at this and decided I spent extra money for this and I wasn't going to accept it. I went back in and let her know that the salad was not appropriate and showed her what it looked like. She immediately threw it into the trashcan, but did not offer to look for one that was fresher when I asked if there was one that looked better. So I stated that I would just take the grilled vegetables. At that point, she said that's going to be another 5 to 7 minutes. At this point, I've been There nearly half an hour between waiting for my order and waiting in line to get my order and then waiting to return things that we're not right in line. So I. told her no, I wasn't gonna wait another 5 to 7 minutes for vegetables when I've been there that long. I started to walk away and then she said well what if I have another salad? She reached in and brought out a perfectly good, nice looking salad the difference was night and day! I have no idea why they served that junk that they handed me the first time. Again, no apology no graciousness. Just handing me the salad. I'm sorry but this place needs management training. Serious management training. The chicken itself was tasty. In fact, it was good, but I have a feeling that the macaroni was too warm as I've had it before. Based on my experience, I don't feel safe coming here in the future. Too many problems and too many opportunities to get sick or be given something which isn't right. Sadly, I when it's right I love the chicken, but it just isn't worth the drama.
