This place was recommended to us and we would highly recommend it!…read more It's located in a cute market square in downtown Knoxville, TN - lots of booths and some tables. We dined on a Sunday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Service was excellent and fast with many folks checking on us throughout our meal. The menu has sandwiches, fried chicken, chicken fingers, ribs and more! It's definitely more focused on chicken. We ordered the fried chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries, grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, 3-piece chicken tenders and kids chicken and fries. Food arrived very quickly and was extremely hot and fresh! Chicken tenders were fresh and thin - a perfect combination. Fries and sweet potatoes were crunchy on the outside and soft inside. We also had the greens and grits, which my husband raved about. A great southern fried restaurant was big portions and delicious food.

We had the Chicks in a Blanket appetizer which was really good. Loved the bacon dipping sauce. I…read moreordered the bone in Dark meat w mashed potatoes and tomato pie. The chicken was hot and fresh but the tomato pie was cold in the middle. When I say COLD I mean it was cold but the outside was hot, which was weird. I didn't even bother getting a replacement because I think things were taking too long. My cocktail never came out even after waiting 20 minutes. I guess the bartender just was having a rough night even though they weren't busy. The chicken was excellent though and had a great crust!

We came on a very busy Saturday night (weekend of Dogwood Festival, theatre night, and prom night)…read more Thankful to have a reservation, we were promptly seated while others with no reservation were being told three hour wait times. I loved the vibe of Tupelo, the hanging lush green plants on the side of the bustling kitchen, the cheerful staff and the lively music. Lizette was our server and she was just a darling. It was our first time here, and she was so helpful with her all of her recommendations. One of Lizette's favorites was the "Peach, don't kill my vibe" sangria. Which I just loved. I nice mix of peach and pineapple in a sangria. For our mains, we had the grilled harvest chicken and the chicken tenders. Both mains came with two sides. With my grilled harvest chicken, I got the mashed potatoes and the braised bacon green beans. The green beans were to die for, even my hubby was saying he should've ordered that as his side. The harvest chicken I loved--especially the sautéed spinach, red peppers and tomatoes on top. But if you can't handle spicy, this dish does have some heat to it. And we ended my birthday celebration with the heavenly banana pudding. It was heavenly in every way. Made in house, and so delicious that even my hubby ate it and he never cares for this dessert. If I could've licked that little bowl, I would've. We already cannot wait to come back and try some of the brunch items on their menu. We loved everything about Tupelo and hats off to Lizette for making our night even more special!!

Took our son and two of his dorm mates. All freshmen used to cafeteria food. One said as we sat down, "the food here smells great." Ambiance gets nice scores. Service is top notch. And the food was nothing short of outstanding. We decided to go with the chef special plan. A fixed menu that everyone at the table has to go with to do. Not sure that was going to work with three college guys. But they each picked something that likely stretched what they were used to. Standouts were the starter ribs and oysters. Everyone liked their second choices so no clear winner there as all finished in first place. My wife loved her trout nd I got a taste and had to agree it was terrific. They boys - no shock here - all went for the steak. I did too and can report it was perfectly cooked and wonderfully savory. The peanut butter chocolate dessert was rated the best but I also enjoyed my blue cheese cheesecake. When I say service was impeccable, it was not only due to our waitress who was attentive, informing and fun. But every time dishes were cleared a group of servers appeared like magic and cleared dishes like a well rehearsed ballet. Really enjoyed the experience if you cannot tell by now. Highly recommended.

We were very well treated, and surprised with a birthday treat and candle at the end of our meal. Tomahawk steak, potato puree with herb butter, colorful green beans, beet salad, and dessert of chocolate banana trifle meant we took some leftovers home too. There's a thoughtful selection of wine and we had a glass of a fine Cabernet with our steak.

I ordered the 6 piece with crinkle fries and slaw and a 32 oz. Drink. $19 for this. A little expensive on my opinion. The tenders were not big, they were a little below average, had a bland taste, very tender, juicy but needed spice. I did like the southwest sauce that came with it. Slaw was ok, nothing to brag about. The crinkle fries were dry and thin cut, hard and crispy. Everything was hot and fresh. Would I eat here again. Uhhhh, maybe. I wasn't overly impressed.

Disco Chicken proves the days of dry, grainy, gritty gluten free fare is over!!!! The biscuits are the Star, IMO, along with the donuts. The fried chicken isn't a slouch, by any means, but the biscuit is just that amazing. My other favorite thing was the frozen lemonade. Crisp and fresh, super cold and just the right amount of sour. I will definitely be back but maybe on a slightly less busy day. The parking was insane as there was a World Cup match on the evening of our visit. So glad the food hall is popular though, but just be aware of local events. You might get relegated to parking at the top of the hill and have to walk down (and then back up).

It seems that the menu was changed somewhat recently, so maybe it was an improvement. Anyway, the entrees are new takes on Southern classics. There's nothing earth shattering, but everything tasted fresh and it was all REALLY good. My friend and I split the fried chicken and the shrimp po' boy, which were both crispy and hot. The pimiento Mac n' cheese was fantastic. The "Bright as a Button" cocktail was a great accompaniment - fresh and not too sweet. Service was good. At 8:55 each night, you can have a (generous) sample of a speciality cocktail, and then get 50% off another. (The cocktail was another Bright as a Button and I loved it so much I ordered it two more times!) The atmosphere is inviting and cozy. There isn't much seating but it was never crowded. Bacon was crispy and sausage was cooked very well. The coffee was above average. The pancakes were a bit gritty and tasted like they could've been mixed better. The eggs were lacking a bit of seasoning and the potatoes, although mostly good, were also inconsistently seasoned. Some had no seasoning whatsoever and others had so much they were almost inedible. Not too poorly priced. There's enough food in the samplers to split between two people, but you may have more of a morning appetite than me.
