Tried the one in Hickory which was one of the first to open in the area. Had a line but traffic moved at a good pace. Ordered the Double Meat Whataburger and I must say that it was very good although I prefer my Onions sliced and not chopped. Meat patties were cooked very well and were flavorful. Tomatoes and lettuce were fresh and not wilted. The Combo came with fries and a drink. Fries were crisp and properly salted. Most burger chains in the area skimp on the salt. All in all, very satisfied and will definatly come agin.

The food is always hot and fresh- and if it's not (such as fries or onion rings)then they will replace the fries or onion rings with hot fresh ones. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Their app is also very easy to navigate to place online orders. Whataburger is family friendly and casual. My fiance really likes the whatawings, and patty melts. I really like the spicy chicken sandwich and the honey butter chicken biscuit. I definelty feel like I get a good value for my money- they constantly offer deals on the app and if you order in person and keep your receipt you can get a free Whataburger with purchase of a medium side and a medium drink- so you can end up getting a combo meal for about $6.

One of whom did not have any shoes on. I wanted to leave, but my wife had her heart set for Popeyes. Once we completed our order on the app, the shoeless homeless woman entered the restaurant and was greeted by an employee. This employee obviously knew the woman and they began to socialize. His Popeye's t-shirt was very dirty, and he wore clothing that did not suit a restaurant environment and was not clean himself. Another employee stated that dirty employee was a cook/maintenance person. After socializing, the dirty employee went back into the kitchen without washing his hands. The bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned in a while. There were no paper towels. The door handles of the bathroom and restaurant were dirty. The table was not particularly clean. There were homeless people who were allowed to come and go in the dining area and the bathroom. Once we got our order, we immediately left. Upon exiting the restaurant I noticed a machette leaning against the trash bin. I went back into the restaurant and alerted the manager. She had an employee retrieve the machette. I also let her know about the dirty employee, and alerted her to the fact there were multiple homeless people in her parking lot. She did not seem surprised and did not seem to care. I further alerted another employee (Nathan) to the fact that there were additional homeless people hanging out in the dumpster shelter, and suggested they call Hickory Police to take care of the issue. Nathan actually seemed to care about the condition of the area. I expressed to the manager that I did not feel comfortable eating the chicken that we had purchased. She offered a replacement, but did not offer a refund. We chose to leave the location and expressed that we would not be returning to this location ever. At time we are reluctant to return to ANY Popeyes. We left the restaurant without eating our order. When we go home, we observed that the chicken appeared to be stale and overcooked. I had eaten worse and was very hungry, so I took a chance, and ate it. I pray I don't get ill.
